CHAPTER 2: Joke!?
"aaaaAAAAAAAAAaaaah!!" Sana's loud voice echoes throughout the room.
It was like music to Desmond's ears.
He repeatedly sent electric shocks into her body, watching her convulse and wriggle like the little insignificant worm she is.
Her eyes were rolling into the back of her head, as saliva poured down her neck from the stimulation.
The Overseer was an immortal. No amounts of torture can effect her.
However currently she was in a mortals body. Her mind will not break, however that doesn't mean she can no longer feel any pain.
The pain she is feeling was in full force. It hurts, so of course she'll cry out.
She's just thankful this is happening to her. She can handle this torture. However that little boy Sin, his mind would've surely broken.
Once more, another electric current is zapped into her body. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!"
Her screams were shrill, almost deafening.
Sana closes her eyes from the pain, as Desmond's laughter floats into her ears.
She really wants to kill this man.
However she cannot, unless she wishes to fail again.
Running away?
No, that might divert the world's plot, as the character Sana, is another obstacle in the FL's way.
She can neither run away nor kill him.
That leaves her with one option.
To endure.
She will endure this all.
And at the end, when the FL has found the love of her life, will she finally fight back and kill this man.
Not only will she make him suffer as he has to her, however she'll make him wish he was dead.
Once more another agonising scream tears her throat apart. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaah!!!"
The man grins as the smell of urine invades his nostrils.
Sana had peed herself.
Disgusting. "You're a filthy animal just like your mother."
The Overseer could hear his words loud and clear. Her mind was clear.
However her sensations discombobulated.
The world was spinning around her. Her breathing was harsh, hurting her throat.
She could taste blood.
This body is on the verge of collapsing.
Even if the Overseer took the risk to kill this man, this body of hers would soon deteriorate after, following him to his death.
For once in the Overseer's life, she knew what it was like to be powerless.
She didn't like it.
A mere mortal was climbing over her head, torturing her.
It was a joke!
And yet...
She really couldn't do anything to retaliate.
Having had enough fun, the man pushes Sana off of the table.
Sana falls to the ground hard, looking as flat as a pancake. She had bumped her chin on the ground, the pain waking her up a bit.
The man pulls Sana to her feet. He begins to whistle a jolly tune making Sana's body shiver from fear.
He then opened the door, and threw Sana inside. "Behave." He growls before locking the door.
The moment Sana had collided with the floor, was the moment Sin had crawled over. "Sana!!" He yells. "Are you okay!? What happened? Answer me!!"
He held her tentatively on his lap, making sure her head wasn't resting on the dirty floor.
The Overseer had to take a few moments to blink her eyes. Things were still spinning. Her whole body felt numb.
She couldn't move a muscle. "I'm....okay." She struggled to even speak. Her throat was raw from all the screaming. Her lips dry and cracked.
She was sleepy. Beyond sleepy.
These ailments were all a new sensation to her.
Sin carefully strokes her scarred cheeks. "It's okay. It's all going to be okay. We can survive this together. I promise I'll protect you." He hugs her head in a tight embrace, rocking back and forth as if trying to comfort them both.
The Overseer knew however...
He wouldn't survive.
Her heavy eyelids finally close. The warmth around her made her feel safe.
Safety.
Security.
These were new emotions to the Overseer.
She never needed anyone before.
No one in this world is a match for her. And yet...
Here she is, being comforted by a mortal child. Being protected by his feeble arms.
The Overseer wanted to laugh but she couldn't.
The despair in his eyes, she'll never forget it.
The desperation he showed, she'll never forget it.
This boy...
For some reason was a strange existence to her.
He was so weak, and yet he spouted so many big words.
It's really all one big fat joke!
When the Overseer opened her one blue eye again, she found her clothing had been changed.
Sin who was curled up in a corner immediately knew she was awake. He gives her a small smile. "They came in, cleaned out our buckets, and gave us new food. Come, eat. I saved you your favourite part." His voice was strained, it held an almost unnoticeable shiver.
The sun had gone down, so it was too dark to see him clearly.
However using her nose, she knew she could smell blood.
Fresh blood.
He...
Was he taken away when she was asleep?
She frowns, almost imagining his painful screams in her head.
No!
She shakes her head, trying to clear her mind.
Don't imagine it!
Who is he to her, for her to care about?
All she cares about is the fl!
She was the most amusing game piece here!!
The Overseer was slowly able to crawl over to Sin with her aching body. She snatches the food from his hand and gobbles it down.
It was bland.
She forgets that mortals need to eat to survive, as she usually only ate to enjoy it.
However this time she wouldn't be fussy like how she was with Zia. This time she ate everything with no complaints, because she knew, she needed the energy.
She was enduring everything as a mortal.
So she had to play by their rules.
Sin kept stroking her hair soothingly as he watched her eat.
Because they were sitting so close together, even under all this darkness, Sana could see his painful smile.
His silent tears, as they slowly fell down his soft cheeks.
He was trying, with all his heart to smile. However...
The pain he felt was obvious.
The Overseer felt a stuffy feeling invade her chest.
Enough!
She angrily stuffs some bread into his mouth.
His brown eyes widen with surprise. He hastily spits it out. "Sana! What are you do-"
"Shut up!" She yells back. Her throat was scratchy and dry. "Eat and be quiet."
Judging by the portions she knew he hadn't ate.
This weak little boy wanted to take on the role of protector!?
Fine!
But first he needed to have strength in order to do so!
Sana quickly begins to pat him down, looking for his wet wounds in the dark.
She easily finds them. His clothing had tears where he was whipped.
She furrows her brows, biting her lips looking distraught.
He'll definitely catch an infection!!
He'll die!
For once in her life, she wishes she was in her original body. Because then she would be able to conjure up some medicine.
However now...
The only chance she has is,
Her eyes drift over to the door.
Out!
She needed to go out, and retrieve some medicine.
Her determined gaze locks on the door handle.
The man usually doesn't lock it. He was very confident that they wouldn't run.
He would've been correct, had the Overseer not taken over Sana's body, as he had already drilled obedience deep into their bones.
Sana stands up, however before she could walk over to the door, a warm hand latched onto her wrist. "Stop! Where are you going?"
Sana turns around to look at him. He was worried. She sighs. "Out. You need medicine, or else you won't survive the night!"
Sin frowns. "No need. I'll be fine. It's too risky Sana, sit back down and eat." He tugs her, however Sana does not fall down.
"I'll be fine. Trust me." The Overseer wasn't afraid.
Even if she was caught she knew she could handle the torture.
And she also knew the man wouldn't kill her, because they are both vital to this world's plot!
However if Sin was the one to go outside, he would be slaughtered with no mercy.
The Overseer had already made her decision.
She tugs her arm roughly out of his grasp. "I'm going." She says firmly.
Sin couldn't even utter another word, and could only helplessly watch her leave the safety of the room.
He hugs his knees, as the darkness pours in around him.
He never realised how lonely and scary the dark was, until now.
