CHAPTER 5: Troubled
It's been a week since Cerberus had been locked up in the basement, and he has been obediently playing his character.
He was well behaved, being less of a headache than the Overseer had thought.
This was a relief to her. It seems she didn't have to worry about him causing her trouble, or interfering with what she was trying to accomplish.
Once more, like every night, she was down in the basement, being forced to talk to the hunter by Kevin.
"Let me go, please let me go. I only want to save Fiona!" Once again, the man was pleading for his release, as the real Cerberous would.
His eyes were desperate, his wrists red from being pulled at.
Amelia felt nothing, watching his little display.
However Kevin seemed to stiffen up every time. "Miss, perhaps befriending him would be easier if he sees you mean him no harm?"
Amelia was stone faced. "Be quiet."
"Sorry miss!" He looks down with embarrassment.
"Miss Amelia!" Cerberus calls for her attention. "Why am I down here? It's obvious that you don't want to kill me, or feast on my blood, as you would've done so already. So... Why am I here? What's the point?"
Kevin noticing Amelia's narrowed eyes hurries to answer for her. "You're here to test miss Amelia's social skills. She wishes to make friends."
Cerberus looked shocked, however Amelia was able to detect his amused sly smile. "A vampire... wishes to befriend humans?"
Kevin looks over to his miss, only see her being unresponsive today. And so he responds for her again. "Miss Amelia is a special case. On her territory humans and vampires co-exist peacefully. She's devised a system where both sides can be satisfied. So this practise isn't very unusual."
"I see." Cerberus frowns. "I can see Miss Amelia is a good person. So if I may be so presumptuous with you, and ask you, a vampire for a favour. Would you please consider saving my friend? At this point I have no hope left, if possible I don't mind being imprisoned here forever. I'll be your friend, just save her. Please save Fiona."
Kevin was startled by the human's pleading. The sincerity in his eyes stirred his heart. Before he could open his mouth to reply, Amelia spoke up.
"Kevin, go get me a blood bag. I'm thirsty."
There was a sudden tension in the air. Kevin wordlessly looks between the two people before slowly retreating to do as told.
Once he was gone Amelia smirks. "You're playing your character really well, huh."
Cerberus shrugs, looking carefree. "I am Cerberus afterall."
The Overseer narrows her eyes at him. "Tell me, what's your purpose of doing all this? Of trying to make me go save Fiona. To follow the world's plot."
"Hmmm, because that's the way this world works. You can't change the plot. If you do, the world will fail. Chaos will ensure. Basically.... little miss Overseer, no matter what you want to do. Even without my interference, you. Will. Fail."
The Overseer snorts with contempt. She refused to believe him. "I will not!"
He grins. "If you understood the human heart, if you understood the core of this world, perhaps you could succeed. However you..." He chuckles lightly. "You my little flower, is ignorant. You'll fail, each and every time."
"Shut up! You're wrong!" She stands up in anger.
He laughs gleefully. "See? You're reaction only proves me right."
She scoffs. "You can rot here forever. I'm not going to save Fiona. The plot will happen my way."
She turns to leave, only to have him scream after her. "The plot being like this was your way in the first place!! Now that you tire from it, you want to destroy it!? So heartless!!!"
Amelia had a strange expression on as she leaves the basement.
His words were echoing in her ears.
So what if she was bored with them all now?
They all rightfully belonged to her in the first place.
So she can do as she pleases with them!
Everything here is hers.
Kevin who had finished heating the blood bag was shocked to see his young miss' gloomy expression.
He watches her snatch the blood bag out of his hands with an open mouth.
"W-What's wrong young miss? Did the talk not go well? Did he say something to upset the young miss?"
The Overseer plants onto her seat in a sulky manner. "Yes, yes he did!"
Kevin watches her seethe in silence with an indulgent smile on his face. "Do you want to talk about it?"
The Overseer glances at him.
He felt small under her scrutiny. "N-Not that I can ever compare with you young miss, but sometimes one ear is better than none." He politely takes a seat besides her on the dinning table.
The Overseer thinks over his words, before slowly nodding.
That was right.
Even if she does blubber some nonsense he won't understand her words anyways.
He's a mere vampire.
"So young miss, what's the problem. What has he said that's made you mad?"
Amelia bites her lips in thought. "He keeps imploring me to save Fiona. But I refuse to."
Kevin smiles nervously. "I see. Miss, why won't you save Fiona for him?"
"Because Fiona belongs to Sirius. And I want Sirius and Fiona to be happy together."
Kevin nods. He understood the underlying consequences of going against Sirius. There's no benefit in doing so. Especially for a human.
Amelia continues her rant. "All I want is for them to be happy. I don't care about anyone else. But he wants me to do something the complete opposite because he thinks I'll fail!"
"Miss, why do you care about their happiness so much? Isn't that not the point? The point of not angering him is because of the conseq-"
Amelia clicks her tongue with distaste. "Wrong! Everything is because I am bored. What's so wrong with that? What human heart bullshit, core world bullshit. He knows nothing!"
Kevin froze from her outrage.
He was happy she was more talkative these days, however her temper was also more volatile.
He didn't know whether he should be pleased with her change or not.
Whatever the cause, she was his young miss, and he would support her no matter what!
As he had been for all these years, since she was a little girl.
Kevin stands up, and begins to give her a soothing shoulder massage. "Miss, you should just do what makes you happy. People will always have differing opinions, and we don't need to agree, however we shouldn't force our own opinions onto others. Instead we should remain as parallel lines. Each of us have our own thoughts, and together we can walk to the same destination, just no touching."
Amelia nods.
He was right.
She should just continue to do what she had set out to do at the start.
Whatever makes her happy and worry about that strange guy later.
It's just irritating that something she can't kill so easily, exists.
Amelia sighs.
She knows all this already.
So why is she still so annoyed by that guy!?
She doesn't know!!!
.
.

Kevin is such a sweetheart.
I wonder what bad things are going to happen to him?
What do you guys think?
I'm just kidding!!!
