CHAPTER 1: Darkness
The Overseer opens her eyes, only to see pitch darkness.
Where was she?
She couldn't move.
Suddenly she felt the most terrible pain she has ever felt in her life.
It was as if a million ants were eating her from the inside out. Her body was breaking out into a cold sweat.
Even with her immortal mind, this kind of pain from a mortal body was hell.
Whines of pain escapes her lips, and before she knew it, she was convulsing and rolling on the ground, trying to relieve her pain. Her eyes were bloodshot, as she continues to froth at the mouth.
She didn't even have time to realise that she didn't take over the body she wanted!
Suddenly a soothing voice of a young boy entered her ears. "Sshhsshhhshhhh. Everything's going to be okay. It'll be over soon I promise!" He hugs her tightly trying to restrict her movements.
Currently the Overseer wasn't using any of her strength, and so the boy was able to overpower her quite easily.
The Overseer was becoming delirious. She was fading in and out of consciousness constantly. Her body felt like it was on fire, and other times it was as if she were in Antarctica.
Finally after 2 days of this folly, and the young boy shovelling food into her mouth, the Overseer was able to open her eyes with some clarity. "Where... am I?" Her voice was barely a whisper. Her throat was as dry and sore as a desert.
Still, the young boy understood her scratchy voice. "In the room again. Dad took you out to play this time. But you're fine, see!" The boy manages a crooked smile, however beneath his smiley exterior, the Overseer could see signs of exhaustion and hopelessness.
Her dull blue eye slowly drift over to the chains around her leg. They were imprisoned in this small damp room. There was one small barred window close to the ceiling.
That was their only source of light.
And since she could see most things, she guessed it was daytime.
Still, looking closer at the boy he seemed no older than 12.
They were little children.
She was...
A true child this time.
The Overseer was confused. This was most certainly not the body she was after.
So why is this process always going wrong for her?
The boy became worried at her silence and so he quietly places his lips to her forehead.
The Overseer froze, feeling the warmth transmit from his soft lips through her body. "No fever." He mutters. "Hey, Sana." He whispers. "Why so quiet?"
The Overseer whose head was in the lap of the little boy, attempts to get up. She was incredibly dizzy, however she manages the task. She sends the boy a dirty glare, quickly hurrying to rebuke him. "Well excuse me for not speaking. My throat hurts." She whines.
The boy chuckles revealing his dimples. "Mm. Come here." He opens his arms widely.
The Overseer crawls over to his embrace with no hesitation. She was in pain, and felt like complaining. Still, she knew they were quite close. So she knew he doesn't mean her any harm.
He hugs her, softly running his hand through her short brown hair. Her blue eye wonder over to their chains, and a small sigh leaves her lips as she looks at all of the ghastly scars covering the boy. "Is it painful?" She whispers, her fingertips racing over each of his wounds, almost with awe.
They were terrifying to look at, making the Overseer feel some pity for the kid. However she was shocked that a mortal body could sustain so much damage.
The boy reveals a sweet smile, before burying his face into the back of her neck. "No. I should be the one asking you that. Are you in pain?" His arms seems to squeeze her extra tightly as he anxiously awaits her answer.
Of course the Overseer was in pain. However this constant pain was more like a dull ache. She could handle it and so she replies simply with a "No." Her mind seemed to be more focused on her fascination that was him.
He sighs in relief. "That's good."
The Overseer tilts her head so she could stare at the boy's face. He was dirty, probably like her. However his brown mesmerising eyes looked at her as if she was the most precious thing in the world.
She felt her heart feel strange.
Just as the boy was about to say something, his head abruptly whips to the door, as the sound of metal could be heard.
He looked fearful, his body began to shake like a leaf.
Even the Overseer's mortal body shivered with fear.
Whoever was coming, was able to make the original body fear them so much, that it has been imprinted into her like some kind of genetic code.
This wasn't a good sign.
The boy clutches her arm, his nails unknowingly digging into her skin.
Suddenly the door is opened with a bang!
Revealing a tall middle aged man.
The boy swiftly moves, quickly putting Sana behind his back. "D-dad" he splutters.
The older man, scowls. His stubbled face contorts into a face of disgust. His blue eyes held a piercing cold glint. "Move." He growls, roughly kicking the boy in the chest, sending him flying against the back wall.
This attack seemed to have opened some of his old wounds, as he begins to cough out his oxygen, with blood seeping through his dirty white shirt.
The man suddenly grabs Sana by her arm. "Still alive, eh?" He grins unlocking her chain. "Make sure to scream more for me today as well." He yanks Sana to her feet, and begins to drag her away.
"Wait, Dad!!" The boy struggles to stand up only to fall back into a puddle of his own blood again. "Dad, please no. Dad! Please take me instead! Sana will die!!" His desperate screams caused tears to emerge from his eyes, however his pitiful appearance only made the man laugh.
"Don't play hero, Sin. Or else you'll die too." He grins, dragging Sana away.
Sin reaches his arm out to her, as if he was losing his entire universe right before his eyes.
The Overseer frowns.
She recognised this man.
He was Desmond Alturo.
The Alturo family will become the FL's biggest competitor in the future.
She doesn't dare use her abilities to kill him, or else things will end up like the previous world.
Although she doesn't understand why, however reluctantly recalling what that Cerberus guy said,
Eliminating the adversary is not a good idea.
However looking at this man's identity, she finally realised who she was.
She was Sana Alturo.
The only child of this family.
However because she was a woman she was looked down upon as a disappointment.
And because she resembled her mother, her father hated her more.
She smiles and glances at her reflection in the window.
As expected...
Her face was disfigured. She could only see out of one eye. The whole right side of her face was burnt with scars. It would frighten anyone half to death.
She sighs.
In the future she would grow to be a docile puppet. One who messes with the fl alot.
However the boy in the basement, Sin was not related to her by blood.
He was just another child this man adopted to torture along with her.
There were many more before Sin as well, and there would be many more after.
He would die soon.
Still, judging by her age, the fl should still be a child as well.
This means that there is no rush in thinking of her next plan.
She didn't know what else to do, if she couldn't just kill this guy.
Therefore she needed to think, and think carefully.
Hopefully this time she'll be successful.
The man grins shoving her into a sterile room.
An assortment of equipment hung on the walls.
And in the middle was a metal bed with straps on it.
Blood stains could be seen on the floor and bed.
Any normal person will gulp at the sight.
However the Overseer was happy.
It was at least her getting tortured and not the kid. Because she didn't think the kid could handle this.
