Apologies and Blood

Jen's P.O.V.

Today I couldn't go to school. My lower back was aching a lot because mother nature decided to visit me and usually it doesn't ache a lot but today was different. I couldn't even move properly.

I had my dad come in and give me some medicines. Yeah, I know you shouldn't take pain killers when you're in your periods but what can I do when the pain is just insufferable.

My father's gone to buy me something to eat. Roth had messaged about why I went MIA but I told her that I had my periods on and I couldn't move without groaning in pain.

I could feel the medicine doing its work because I felt drowsy and soon I let sleep take over me.

I woke up to the ringing of the bell. Groaning I sat up and slowly reached the door.

"Why the fuck would you wake me up?", I said not even paying attention to the person standing in front of me.

"Awww, did I wake my sweetheart from her beauty sleep?", He said with a chuckle.

Really! He has the nerve to stand here and think that everything is ok when nothing is.

I scoffed before attempting to slam the door on his face but then again this guy probably knew I was gonna do this because he had stuck his foot out on the doorframe to stop me from shutting the door.

God! He's getting in my nerves. Can't he just leave me alone?

"Steven please, I'm not in a mood to talk to anyone please just leave me alone for today at least", I begged him.

I just wasn't in a mood to talk to anyone. I just wanted to be left alone. I heard him sigh and then I heard rustling.

"Here", he said offering me chocolates, "I thought it would be good for your periods, I found out from Roth that you got them today and we're in pain. Also, even though I'm not good with words I just want to say I'm sorry for misunderstanding the call and for saying things I shouldn't have said. I honestly feel guilty that I even compared you to her", he said with a tight-lipped smile while pushing the chocolates in my hand and then turning to leave.

With the hand that didn't hold the chocolates, I took hold of his wrist and spun him around. He looked shocked.

"It's ok, what matters is you realized your fault and apologized. I'll see you tomorrow. Bye", I told him before shutting the door and going to my room to sleep.

I know I can fangirl over the fact that he gave me chocolates but SLEEP gets priority.

I woke up and the pain had subsided a little so I decided to go to school and meet my ugly friends.

Roth was the first one to hug the life outta me. I was just away for two days and she has this reaction.

The others hugged me briefly before I went over to my locker. I couldn't ignore the way my heart was beating weirdly or the way my stomach churned in am an uneasy way for God knows what reason.

Just as I was a meter away from my locker, did the metallic smell hit my nose. What the hell is this smell of? And is it coming from my locker?

As I came in front of my locker I noticed the faint drops of blood. Blood? Omg! I can't stand the sight of blood. It reminds me of them.

I started getting more panicked and to say I was more panicked when I opened my locker would be an understatement. A finger fell off my locker with a note attached to it. I screamed. That's all I could do as tears clouded my vision. I started feeling light-headed and just before I could faint, familiar arms wrapped around my waist and took me into their embrace. The smell of his cologne calming me down as he repeatedly muttered soft soothing words in my ears.

"The note..." Roth said with an uneasy look as she read it. I became more alert and composed myself before reaching for the note and reading it.

That's another warning.

Maybe next time, it'll be Max's or your father's or anyone from your group.

My breathing stopped and my head started hammering and I felt like someone was choking me. My knees buckled and I would've fallen on the floor if it wasn't for Steven. Panic attack. I was having a panic attack. I could see his lips move as he said things to me but I couldn't hear anything. It's like I was there physically but not mentally and just like that I blacked out but not before hearing Steven scream my name.

I woke up to the smell of medicine and the beeping sound of the heart monitor.

They bought me to the hospital. I looked down and found my left hand entangled between his fingers as he kept his eyes closed.

"St-stev", I couldn't speak because of my raspy throat, but the mere sound of my voice woke him and he widened his eyes when he saw me awake and immediately hugged me. I'm a sucker for his hugs. They're so warm and nice.

He gave me water to drink before asking me how I was and then calling my friends and the doctor who unluckily happened to be my shrink.

She had a knowing look in her eyes. My dad came in after her and sighed in relief when he saw me awake. Then followed by my friends.

My dad rushed over to me and hugged the life out of me. Him and his hugs.

"So, let's get to the point, you had a panic attack which caused you asthma attack and you blacked out. I'll recommend you some medicines. Moreover, I see the dark circles and very well know the reason so I'll write more medicines for that. Also, love, you haven't come to visit me recently", she told me and I could feel his eyes on me.

My hands unintentionally went over to my wrists. Her eyes seemed to follow all of my actions.

"But, I'm proud of you, you haven't done it again, you'll be in the hospital for another day and then you'll be good to go", she said before going.

The sisters went home along with their boyfriends not long after that because their mothers called for them. Maxy then came in and hugged me.

What's with everyone hugging me today?

I spent time with him before dad and he went home leaving me with the other three as Roth fed me with the bland food provided by the hospital. After that giving me the bitter medicines.

"You both go home, I'll stay with her", Roth told them.

"No, you go home with Asher, I'll stay with her", he told.

"Why will Asher not stay here to take care of her", Asher butter in with a pout.

"All of you go home," I told them. Only to receive a big no from all of them. All of them want to stay and only one can stay if one wishes to. Urghhhhh.

Roth and Steven bickered about who will stay before he spoke up.

"I'll stay end of the discussion and you are taking her with you", he told Asher. She was about to argue but Asher picked her up like a sack of potatoes which resulted in her abusing him verbally and her punching his back all the while saying "put me down", "you son of a bitch", "I hate you".

"Awwww, baby I know that's not true", Asher said to her and bade us goodbye.

Steven came and sat beside me in the uncomfortable chair. His eyebrows furrowed. Which only meant that he wants to ask a question but can't ask.

"What is it?"

"Huh?"

"What do you want to ask me? I know you furrow your eyebrows whenever you want to ask people something, so tell me"

"You notice me?" He said while grinning like a child. This idiot! He doesn't know his grins makes my stomach flutter.

"No, I don't and why would I do that when I have much better people to look at", I said. It was a lie! Everyone knows it.

"Is it?", He said while leaning closer," do you really not notice me, sweetheart?"

He was so close that our breaths were getting mingled with each other. I was breathing heavily and the heart monitor was going insane with the way my heart was beating rapidly. A smile spread across his lips.

"The heart monitor says it all sweetheart", he said before letting out a hearty chuckle.

"Shut up and I want to sleep, so good night", I grumbled before raising the thin mattress which did nothing to keep me from cold to my neck and turning in the opposite direction to sleep.

"Good night sweetheart", he said while taking one of my hand and placing a kiss on it.
