Clara breathed a sigh of relief as she passed by Ethan and went to the outer room. She saw clothes on the sofa, picked them up, and realized they were new, not hers. She took them and went into the bathroom in the bedroom to change.
It was a loose sports outfit, very comfortable to wear.
After changing, Clara came out.
"Let's go eat," Ethan said.
Clara nodded. She was indeed hungry.
Clara followed Ethan out of the room, took the elevator downstairs, and arrived at the restaurant. Ethan had already ordered the meal. As soon as they sat down, the waiter began serving dishes—several light side dishes with porridge. Clara felt she could eat six bowls.
But in fact, after one bowl, she couldn't eat anymore.
Because Ethan was watching her eat.
Clara found it strange. She and Ethan were eating at the same time. Ethan had finished two bowls while she had only finished one. She didn't think she was eating slowly, and Ethan was eating elegantly without gobbling down his food.
So why did he finish one more bowl than she did?
Was it because he had a big mouth?
Clara sneaked a glance. No, it wasn't big, just a normal man's mouth size.
Clara put down her chopsticks.
Ethan raised an eyebrow. "Not eating anymore?"
Clara nodded. She was still hungry and wanted to eat more, but under his gaze, she couldn't eat. She thought she'd buy some snacks later.
Ethan wasn't surprised. Women usually had smaller appetites. From his observation, Clara's appetite was decent; she had eaten a bowl of porridge and some dishes. He had seen many women who didn't eat staple foods at all, just some vegetables and fruits.
"Let's go back to the room," Ethan said.
Clara nodded and followed Ethan back to the room.
Back in the room, Clara felt awkward.
What should she do next?
"Stay here tonight. Tomorrow I'll have someone move your things to the Logan family," Ethan said.
They were married, so it was natural for her to live at the Logan family home.
Clara was caught off guard.
She hadn't even adjusted her mindset yet, and now she had to move to the Logan family home?
Living with Ethan day and night?
Clara felt a bit panicked.
"I... live on campus now," Clara said.
Ethan nodded. "I know. From now on, you don't need to live on campus. Your school is only a twenty-minute drive from the Logan family home."
Clara wanted to live on campus.
She didn't want to live with Ethan day and night.
But she didn't dare to say it.
Clara felt really stifled.
If it were someone else, she would have said 'no' long ago. But facing Ethan, she always felt intimidated and didn't dare to contradict him or go against him.
"What's wrong?" Ethan raised an eyebrow and asked her, "Don't want to live at the Logan family home?"
Clara didn't dare say it. She was afraid he'd get angry, although... even if he got angry, he wouldn't do anything to her. He wouldn't scold or hit her, but she was just scared, just timid.
Ethan looked at Clara as if waiting for an answer from her.
This made Clara even more afraid to tell the truth.
Just when Clara didn't know how to answer Ethan, her phone rang, breaking the somewhat awkward atmosphere. Clara breathed a sigh of relief as if granted amnesty and said to Ethan, "I'll take this call."
She walked aside and saw 'Sister' on the screen. Clara felt a headache coming on.
Taking a deep breath, she answered the call. "Sis."
"Clara, where are you?" Iris asked gently.
"Still at the hotel," Clara said.
There was silence on Iris's end.
Clara also remained silent.
She didn't know how to tell her sister about sleeping with Ethan.
"So... when are you coming back?" Iris asked cautiously.
"Tomorrow," Clara said.
There was silence again on Iris's end, so much so that Clara thought she had hung up. Just as she was about to check if the call had been disconnected, Iris's voice came through again. "Are you... with Ethan?"
Her tone was even more cautious and uneasy, as if afraid of hearing a certain answer.
Clara's heart tightened. After a moment of silence, she nodded and softly said, "Yes."
"Oh... I see." Iris hurriedly hung up the phone.
Clara stared at her phone in a daze.
She, her sister, and Ethan... She had a premonition that the future wouldn't be peaceful. The love-hate entanglements between the three of them were just beginning.
"Ethan asked knowingly, "Was that Iris?"
Clara snapped back to reality, turned to look at him, and nodded.
Ethan just raised an eyebrow indifferently and didn't continue talking about Iris.
A woman who had cheated on him wasn't someone he wanted to mention.
"You should rest first. I have something to take care of," Ethan said.
Clara nodded, feeling relieved inside. She was very afraid of being alone with Ethan.
