Chapter 12: Mia

Clara always knew that Mia probably didn't have a good impression of her, but Mia was a true lady. Even if she didn't like Clara, she still treated her with politeness.

Clara also had a rough idea of why Mia didn't like her.

The Logan family's first and second branches were not on good terms, and Clara was Ethan's sister-in-law. By association, she was on Ethan's side, which naturally made Mia dislike her.

"Ethan. Clara." Mia greeted them with a smile.

Although the two branches were at odds, it was all behind closed doors. On the surface, they still appeared to be one big happy family.

Ethan nodded and sat down.

Clara sat next to Ethan, and soon, a servant brought the dishes.

Clara noticed that the servant placed some dishes in front of each of the three of them.

"Lady Clara, please let us know what you like to eat, and we will prepare it according to your taste in the future," the servant said with a smile.

Clara nodded to show she understood and glanced at the dishes in front of Ethan.

There was a plate of stir-fried vegetables, a tofu and vegetable soup, a steamed fish, and a serving of beef.

Was this what he liked to eat?

It seemed very light.

She then looked at what Mia was eating.

Seeing the food in front of Mia, Clara finally understood that those diet bloggers weren't lying.

Mia's lunch consisted of only a small bowl of soup and a piece of steak that looked no bigger than half a palm. There were also a few pieces of vegetables.

That was Mia's lunch.

If Mia weren't already very slim, Clara would have suspected she was on a diet.

Clara ate her meal silently.

Compared to Mia, Clara felt like she had a huge appetite. She ate a bowl of rice with vegetables and fruit, sometimes even two bowls. Although it seemed like a normal amount to her, compared to Mia, she felt like a big eater.

No one spoke during the meal; the three of them ate in silence.

After dinner, Mia said her goodbyes and left. Clara followed Ethan upstairs.

"Take a nap; I'll be working," Ethan said to Clara.

"...Oh." Clara responded, glanced at the bed with its bright red quilt, went to the bathroom, and changed into her pajamas in the dressing room before coming out.

Ethan glanced at her. Her pajamas were pink short sleeves and shorts with floral prints, looking fresh and sweet.

Ethan smiled inwardly; she was still just a young girl.

Clara knew Ethan was watching her and nervously got into bed.

The quilt had no particular smell.

It just smelled like natural fabric.

This was a new red quilt bought specifically for their wedding; no one had slept in it before, so it hadn't absorbed anyone's scent.

Clara lay in bed and quietly glanced at Ethan working at his desk. A man focused on his work was the most handsome. Ethan's serious gaze was fixed on the computer screen, and the light from the screen reflected on his face, giving his handsome features an almost holy and cool glow.

It was as if he were an immortal looking down on all beings. They seemed to care for everyone, but in reality, everyone was insignificant and ordinary in their eyes. They felt no emotion towards them.

Clara originally thought she wouldn't be able to sleep, but soon, accompanied by the sound of Ethan typing on the keyboard, she drifted off. She even had a dream where a huge mountain pressed down on her, making it hard for her to breathe.

When she opened her eyes, she saw something black on her chest and almost screamed but managed to hold it in.

This unfamiliar yet familiar scent.

It was Ethan.

Clara blushed.

She felt nervous and uneasy as she moved slightly.

She wanted to refuse.

She had checked herself while bathing earlier; her condition was... not good.

But she didn't dare to refuse.

In the end, Clara let Ethan do as he wished.

Worried that someone from the Logan family might hear them, she bit her lip to keep from making any noise. When she couldn't bear it anymore, she bit his shoulder with her teeth.

This seemed to excite Ethan even more.

Afterward, Ethan went to take a shower while Clara lay limp on the bed, staring at the ceiling in despair...

Thinking about how this might happen every day from now on made Clara even more desperate.

When Ethan finished his shower and came out, Clara was still curled up in bed. She was too exhausted to take a shower herself and felt very tired.

Ethan didn't say anything either. He just covered himself with the quilt and closed his eyes to sleep.

They both slept until a servant called them for dinner.

After sleeping for a while, Clara felt much better. She got up, took a shower, and followed Ethan downstairs for dinner.

In the evening, many members of the Logan family were present. Except for those who had social engagements, everyone came home for dinner.
