Clara nodded, and the other three began to enthusiastically discuss where to eat.
They finally decided on a Western restaurant in Riverton, which was quite expensive. A casual meal there could easily cost thousands of dollars.
After agreeing on the location, the four girls changed clothes and put on makeup.
Going to a high-end Western restaurant naturally required dressing up.
Once they were ready, they took a car to the restaurant.
Upon arrival, they got out of the car and entered the restaurant. Despite its high prices, it was still quite busy, but there were available seats. The waiter led Clara and her friends to their table.
As they walked, Ava tugged at Clara.
Clara looked at Ava in confusion.
Ava signaled with her eyes for Clara to look in a certain direction.
Clara followed her gaze.
It was Ethan.
To be precise, it was Ethan having dinner with a woman.
They were eating and talking quietly.
The woman had her back to them, so Clara couldn't see what she looked like.
"Here, please," the waiter's words brought Clara back to reality. They followed the waiter to their seats and sat down.
Clara deliberately chose a seat with her back to Ethan, not wanting him to see her.
After ordering, the waiter left.
"Clara, what are you afraid of?" Ava glared at Clara with frustration. "You are his lawful wife. Your marriage is protected by law. What are you afraid of? Go confront him."
Ava was a fierce woman.
"Stop it," Zoe said helplessly. "What if it's not what we think? What if they're just friends?"
"Friends? Would friends come to such an expensive restaurant for dinner?" Ava scoffed in disbelief.
Ella stared at the woman for a while and said, "Clara, that woman looks arrogant. She doesn't seem easy to deal with."
"Tell us, Clara, what do you plan to do? We'll help you," Ava said with a heroic air, ready to fight for Clara.
"How about we eat first?" Clara suggested.
"Even if there's going to be a confrontation, we need to be full first, right?" Clara added.
Well, if that's what Clara wanted, what more could they say?
After all, marrying into a wealthy family wasn't easy. Look at the entertainment news; which wealthy tycoon didn't have a few lovers in the entertainment industry?
The Everett family might be rich, but compared to the Logan family, they were nothing. They relied on the Logan family. In such a situation, how could Clara dare to control Ethan? Even if she saw Ethan with a lover, she had to pretend she didn't see it.
The three friends felt a mix of satisfaction and sympathy.
They didn't actually dislike Clara, but people tend to feel unbalanced when they see someone around them doing well and desperately try to find flaws in their lives.
They weren't bad people; it was just human nature. Although not everyone was like this, most people in the world were.
Soon, the waiter brought their food. The four of them ate slowly, but they were all distracted. The other three kept glancing at Ethan's table and reporting what they saw to Clara.
Clara honestly didn't have much of an opinion on the matter.
She had been forced to marry Ethan and had no real feelings for him. In fact, she was somewhat afraid of him and dreaded being alone with him. If Ethan really had a lover and moved out to live with her, leaving Clara alone, she wouldn't be sad; she might even be happy.
As Clara ate and thought about this, her friends saw her as being lost in thought and absent-minded, finding no joy in the delicious food.
"Clara, don't overthink it. You are Ethan's lawful wife. As long as you stay calm and composed, those women outside can't shake your position," Ava comforted Clara.
Clara looked at Ava and smiled, nodding. "Yes, I understand."
Zoe was sitting directly opposite Ethan's table and could see their every move clearly.
"Clara, they're done eating and about to leave," Zoe whispered.
Clara nodded but didn't dare look back.
"Actually, Clara," Zoe continued softly, "men like Ethan, with his status and position, even if he stays faithful himself, he can't stop those seductive women from throwing themselves at him. You need to accept that no man is completely faithful. As long as..." Zoe's voice trailed off as she watched the man approaching them. Her heart began to race uncontrollably.
This man, who already made hearts flutter on TV and in magazines, was even more captivating in person. His steady steps, stern face, and noble demeanor were irresistibly charming.
He walked step by step into her heart.
Zoe blushed and suddenly lowered her head, staring at her plate.
