Chapter 9: Lucy decides to do job

"Please sign this paper." The Driver said and kept the paper in Lucy's hand.

Lucy signed the paper and looked at him with tension.

He kept James' dead body in the house and gave a purse to Lucy.

"Sorry, Madam. Your Dad died in an Accident. He did not see the truck while driving and died there only." The Ambulance Driver said and went away.

"Dad!" Lucy shouted with a shock and cried loudly.

Time passed by, and the Funeral got completed.

Neighbors went away in the evening, and Lucy was left alone in the house crying for her Dad.

"Dad, I am not a lucky girl. On my Eighteenth Birthday, God took you away. When I was a child, Mom left me, and after I had grown up, you left me." Lucy said and cried loudly.

She slept on the floor without eating any food.

"Lucy!" Ava called and shook Lucy.

Lucy got up and looked at Ava with irritation.

"I came to know about your Dad's demise. Please get up, and eat the food." Ava said and went towards the dining table.

Lucy did not speak, ran into her bedroom, and closed the doors.

"Lucy, What happened?" Ava shouted and knocked on the doors.

"Please go away from the house," Lucy shouted with tears.

Ava felt it was not correct to disturb Lucy and went away.

Lucy cried the whole night and slept on the floor like that only.

On the next day,

She heard the sound of someone speaking and opened the doors.

Lucy saw some persons who came along with Advocates.

"Are you James' Daughter?" Advocate asked.

"Yes. Who are you?" Lucy asked with confusion.

"Your Dad made some debts from these financiers. So the Court ordered you to vacate the house. When will you give this house to them?" The Advocate asked and showed the papers.

Lucy read the papers and is shocked to hear the news that her Dad took some debts.

"I don't know about the debts that my Dad took. Please give me some time to clear them, as this house is the memory of my Mother. Please don't take this house." Lucy pleaded.

"What? How will you clear the debts? Your Dad only did not give us the amount. How will you give us?" One of the Financier asked.

"No. I will do a job and give the amount to you. I am also like your daughter only. Please help me in this situation." Lucy said with tears.

The Financiers thought for a while and agreed to give some time to Lucy.

"It's OK. We agree with your words. But, for everything, there is a time limit. As the debts are heavy, we will give one year time to you. We want half of the amount by the end of the sixth month. We can take your house if you fail to give us the half amount by the end of the sixth month. As you are a girl, we are giving you this time. Sign on this paper." The financier said and gave the paper.

Lucy signed the paper and thanked them for giving her some time.

After everyone left, Lucy sat on the sofa, thinking about her Dad's pressure to hide this truth from her.

On the next day, Lucy went to the College to take TC.

"What? Have you gone mad? If you leave your education now, we cannot admit you again. You cannot do any job without Minimum Education. Do you know that?" The Principal Asked.

"Yes, Sir. I have some responsibilities that I need to fulfill now. So please give me TC." Lucy said, controlling her tears.

"It's OK. Your wish." The Principal said and gave her TC.

Lucy controlled her tears and went to the bank to make some money.

The next day, Lucy started to search for opportunities, but no one asked her to come for an interview, as she is not a Graduate.

Lucy uploaded her Resume to every Job Portal and on Social Media. But, she did not get any positive response from anyone. Instead, everyone laughed to see a girl who did not complete her Junior College Education applying for jobs.

Lucy is getting disappointed every day and is losing the hope of saving the house.

She ran to the nearby Church and started crying by touching the feet of Jesus.

"Take away my life. Please kill me, Jesus. I cannot bear this torture, as I am not getting any way to clear the debts." Lucy said, crying.

During the evening, Lucy returned to the house but showed no interest in eating the food.

She slept on the floor and saw an Envelope lying at the Entrance.

Lucy ran towards the Entrance and took the envelope into her hands.

Her hands are trembling with fear, and she is not getting any courage to open it.

"Did any Financier send me to notice?" Lucy asked herself and opened the Envelope.

She started reading the information that is there in the Letter.

"Dear Candidate,

We are glad to say that we have shortlisted your profile for the Position of Sales Executive in our Branch. If you are interested in the above position, contact the Branch Head tomorrow at 10:00 AM for an Interview.

The Branch Address is as follows:

XXXXXXX."

Lucy reread the letter with tears in her eyes due to happiness. She thanked God, ate the food, and slept joyfully, thinking she had a good life again.

On the next day,

Lucy woke up early in the morning and completed her daily activities. Then, she cooked the food and kept it on the dining table.

Lucy kept her Certificates and Profile in a folder and checked everything before closing the doors.

"Mom, Please bless me. Today, I am attending an interview after many days of waiting." Lucy said in her heart and started from her house in the cab.
