Chapter 5: David and Lucy got separated

Lucy smiled with discomfort and looked at her Dad without going toward him, as she was shocked. After a few minutes, Lucy came to her senses when her Dad shook her and took her from the school without speaking. Lucy looked at the school gates that were getting closed, but she did not expect that it would be an end to her friendship with David.

James drives his scooter fastly, and Lucy's mind is thinking about why David failed in the subjects and where he is? She went inside the house with tears flowing from her eyes, though happiness must come as she passed the issues with distinction marks.

"Why are you crying? I must cry for what you did. Your Mom gave birth to you and died. But, I gave you life by sending you to school. Do you know how large amount I spent on you? Why are you making friends with a billionaire's son? Didn't you find many girls who are of our status?" James asked angrily and drank the wine that he had bought.

Lucy laughed to herself and went inside her room without speaking anything. She slept on the bed, thinking about the culture going on in society. Then, she feels restless and rests on the bed, thinking about the lonely life in the house.

The clock sounded 05:00 AM.

Lucy woke up from the bed and covered her face with a shawl. She opened her room doors and looked at her Dad, who was sleeping on the sofa with an alcoholic effect. Lucy shook her Dad, but he did not respond. She opened the front door and ran outside.

Within fifteen minutes, Lucy reached the place where she met David for the first time. Time passes by, and tension in her is getting increased. Sweat is flowing from her face, and she is looking here; in addition, she fears whether David will come or not.

She saw some people who were going for walking and jogging. Her heartbeat increases every time she sees them, thinking David is coming. Finally, after a few minutes, she lost hope that she would meet David and started walking towards her house with a sad expression.

"Lucy, Please wait. I am coming." David shouted from a far distance.

Lucy looked at David, who was coming in a jogging dress, and her eyes started showering tears in happiness. She removed her shawl and ran towards David. The birds began sounding, looking at David and Lucy as if they were the persons who used to feed them while jogging.

"Lucy, Didn't you sleep yesterday? Your eyes are red with tears." David said and laughed.

Lucy hit David's head naughtily and asked him why he didn't meet on the previous day at the school, for which Lucy did not get any reply. Finally, she understood that David was hiding something from her, and with a wave of fake anger, she said to David that she would leave the place if he didn't tell her what had happened.

David smiled and took a chain from his pocket. He knows that Lucy will not take the gift till he tells her the truth that he is leaving her permanently as his Dad is taking him abroad.

Lucy looked at David's red cheeks and understood that someone had slapped him. She touched his cheeks with shaking hands and spoke several words into his eyes.

"Lucy, Don't think about these small issues. You must always stand in the top position in the subjects. So please take this chain, and keep it as my memory. So you won't see the guy who feared you in your fourth class from today afternoon." David said with a smiling face.

Lucy was shocked by that word and looked at David with surprise, and her mouth uttered WHAT unknowingly.

David kept the chain in Lucy's hands and said his Dad was taking him to an unknown destination. He looked at Lucy, crying loudly, and hugged him with tears.

David tried to console her, but he did not do as he knew that someone was spying on them.

"It's OK. Don't cry. I am not leaving you permanently. Let us think that this is an exam for us, and try to pass the exam with distinction marks. Now, we are 12 years old students. Let us meet in the same place and same date where our friendship started after another 12 years. Our maturity levels will increase by then, and we can face society bravely. What do you say?" David asked with a smiling face.

Lucy nodded and looked in her pockets but did not find anything. She looked at her hands, removed the watch she kept as a memory of her Mom and kept it in David's hands.

David kept it in his pocket and wiped the tears from Lucy's eyes.

He bid goodbye to his best friend and ran away with tears from that place. Lucy closed her eyes and tried to forget the truth that David had left her. She covered herself with the shawl and looked at the birds blaring as their best friends got separated. Lucy laughed in herself and left the place by slowly digesting the truth.
