Chapter 18 Work And Work

Alexis POV;

After leaving school i went to the café to relax,but i saw Sophie there

"Hey sis" i say walking up to her

"Why you here so early?" She asked

"Didn't feel too good"

"Okay..wanna work?"

"Sure,why not" i say to her and drop my bag in the store room and came back in an apron and without my glasses and hair in a ponytail

I stayed as the corner and prepared the coffees,the café was really slow,only 3 people had come the whole day,so i decided to start studying and i went into the store room

"Hey Lex,there's a customer,go take the order!!"

I rushed over and took a notepad and a pen from the counter and ran over to meet the customer who turned out be a teenage boy!!???

I was confused and as i got closer i realized i knew this particular teenage boy. It turned out to be KYLE MATTHEWS!??

"Woah...why is it that whenever i meet you,you always have a funny look?" smirking

"How did you find me? Are you following me now" i asked rolling my eyes

"You texted me this address before,remember?"

"What do want to order?"

"I didn't know you work here"

"Yeah well there are lots if things you don't know about me"

"But I'd like to get to know you more"

"What do you want"

"Okay then......I'll have a cup of macchiato and a scone"

Okay" i say walking away

"Make that 2" he yelled

"Will do"

It took me exactly 25 minutes to prepare the order,and i came out with a tray holding his order

"here's your order" i say dropping the tray on the table

"good,now sit with me" he offered

"Not now I'm working" i say trying to turn down his offer politely

"Lexi you can take a break" i hear Tatiana yell

I felt so flushed,was she listening in on our conversation!??

"So you see baby,you can stay" he said pulling the seat to him out with a smirk that wouldn't leave his face

Did he just call me baby?!!!!

"So what do you want to talk about?",he said pushing a plate of scone to me and the hot macchiato to my front

"I'm not hungry,and i don't like macchiato,i prefer a café lattee" i say while eyeing the scone,i haven't had anything since i came

"On a second thought,I'll have the scone" i say grabbing it from the plate

"Let's work on the play" he said while sipping the coffee

"Okay" i reply happy

We worked on the play for what felt like minutes,but reality was hours passed,and were practiced for awhile and afterwards we started talking about ourselves;likes and dislikes,funny memories,and kyle kept on laughing,it was safe to say that i had fallen deeper for him and i didn't want this moment to end,But then his phone rang

I really have to stop wishing for things seems i always get the opposite

"Sorry but i have to go" kyle said standing up

"Oh...okay" i say

"How much is my bill?"

"Oh...wait..never...."

"Never mind,here i have to go now"

And with that he keft,and i looked at my hand and he gave a a thousand dollar,i was shook,i haven't seen so much money in a while

"So how did you enjoy your company" Tati and Sophie said winking

"Whattt...he just came for practice for our play" i say

"And here" i say and hand the money to Tatiana who also looks shook

"This is way too much tip even if we spilt it" she said with amazement

"Must be a rich kid"

After we closed,me and sophie walked home,but we didn't stop talking,soph was telling me about Scott her new boyfriend,by how she sounded i could say that she's falling in love with him,i think she needed that type of feeling right now because with all we're going through she will need a shoulder to lean on. I do as well,I've never seen a boyfriend as a necessity but now one would really be helpful,like having someone to talk to all day long,been able to feel that a person wants you,that's something I'd really like but something that i don't ever think I'll have

when we arrived home,mom was watching TV,it's been awhile since i saw her do that

"Oh sweeties you guys are back" mom greeted us with a smile on her face

"Well mom you look happy" Sophie said smiling because mom was smiling

"Well i got a new job,it's in a really fancy place and the pay is very good,it will be able to cover the rent and a little bit of the household expenses" she said happily

"That's great mom" i said hugging her

"So when do you start?" sophie asked

"Tomorrow. Morning" she said

"But why so early,what type of work is it?" I asked

"I...um.. will be working as a helper....in a house" she replied

"Why a helper ma,you know your health is the greatest right now" i say sadly

"I know but we need the money" She replied

"If you work there then I'm going to help you out,I'll come from school and help you...and I'm not taking no as an answer" i say flatly

"Okay...fine if you insist" she says raising her hand in defeat

"Here's the address" she continued and wrote down on paper and left to her room

After everything i lay on my bed,tired and wondering where it was that my mom works,i got up and took the paper from my dresser and looked at it,it looked really fancy and i couldn't wait to go there tomorrow.

I was already fantasising until a ring interrupted me,it was a message. I took out my iphone 6 and open imessage and see a text from.....KYLE!!!!!!

Ahhhhhhhh

This was me screaming on the inside because i didn't want to wake up anyone it was already late

Kyle: you up?

Me: yes,you?

Without thinking i hit the send button with a smile plastered on my face,but the smile faded quickly because j just realized i sent "you?"

He asked if i was up and i texted yes,you? Oh my god well obviously if he wasn't up he wouldn't be texting me,would he. He hadn't replied maybe he realized i was a shitty texter and didn't want to text me anymore,should i send him another text? I face palmed myself until i heard a ring.....thank goodness

Kyle: um..yeah...so i was going to ask you this in person but would you like to go out with me tomorrow?

Me: yeah...sure...why not

I could feel my internal organs vibrate with happiness,i mean after all my forever crush just asked me out,but then i realized

Me: sorry j can't go i have somewhere to be tomorrow

Kyle: is it important?

Me: yeah very

Kyle: okay then,maybe some other time

Me: yeah.....

Kyle: :) goodnight

Me: goodnight :)

At this point,my bed was my best friend,i just buried my face in my pillow and didn't even realize that it was day

I quickly had my lunch and went to school,i meet with jazz at my locker

"Hey....you've been missing in action" jazz said while fixing her make up

"It's just home stuff...went are gonna get kicked out" i confessed

"What!!! If you needed money you know you can always ask me my parents literally see you as a daughter,they adore you,i would have told them" jazz replied,closing her locker

"No it's good,mom went to work somewhere else and the pay is really good" i said as a comforter

"Oh thank god" jazz said sounding relieved

"Let's get to class"

"Okay...let's go"

Kyle didn't come to school today so i really didn't have to go anywhere,but i did decide to text him when i had reached my mom,School seemed really fast today,and time flew by and before i knew it was already time to close and i began to make way to my mom's new workplace

I passed different big houses,and got lost a few times,but i was finally directed to a black and gold gate which looked really heavy and expensive,it was obvious that rich kids dominated this part of town,and I knocked on this heavy metal but it didn't open. I knocked again,still no response,and then i noticed a bell...oh silly me,of course there would be a bell in this humongous house,i pressed the bell twice

Then a man in his mid thirties opened for me, "who are you?" The man asked rudely

Um...ruddeeeee

"I'm a daughter to one of the workers here,I'm here for her" i tell him while straightening myself

"What's your mothers name?" He asked

"Mrs Elizabeth Coleman" i reply instantly

"Okay..wait here" he turned to me and closed the gate

Rudeeeeee.....how dare he do this to me,like I'm some sort of a begger

I was about the knock again but the gate opened and the man standing there told me "come in"

I sighed and entered,as i entered i couldn't help but notice the beautiful entrance

It was brick red patterns but in circular shaped leading to the fountain, the fountain was huge and could cover like 12% of the ground,it was white and the water pouring out looked so fresh and clean

After the fountain i see this massive building,white and very wide,it has this huge door that all those movie stars stay

"Where do you think you're going?" I heard a voice say from behind me

"inside duhh" i say with an annoyed tone

"Helpers don't use this entrance,they use the service entrance,left,down the road and to your right" he directed

"Okay"

I did feel a bit embarrassed,but it wasn't my fault i haven't been here before

I entered the service entrance which lead to the kitchen,and i saw an old woman,not really old she looked like she was in her sixties and she had her black hair in a bun

"Excuse me,who are you?" The lady asked

"I'm Alexis and I'm looking for my mother,Elizabeth" i answered

"Oh you're Elizabeth's daughter,you look so much like her,you even got the eyes,she's serving lunch and will be back shortly,do you want anything?... I'm Midge by the way"

"thank you ma'am,you're so nice" i say smiling

"Sit down" she ordered

I did as i was told i sat down and we began talking,Midge has been working here for 10 years now and she had 3 children,and 2 of her children left her after graduating college,she only had her youngest daughter with her who took care of her

"Alexis you're here" i heard mom say "and i see you've met Midge" she said smiling

"Yes,i have" i replied with a smile on my face

"That's..."

"I told you to stop interfering in my life,dad" we heard a feminine voice say throwing something on the ground

"That's common in this house,you'll get use to it" Midge says after looking at the shocked expression on their faces

We heard a buzz fifteen minutes afterwards and midge went the the wall of the kitchen and pressed a button and we heard "Midge,please ask someone to get me a glass of lemonade,i really need it right now and send it to my room" the voice said

That voice.....sounds so familiar,i wonder why i can't figure it out

"Elizabeth,would you do that?" Midge asked

"Sure,i will"mom said,but the tone of her voice sounded so tired and weak

"Mom,don't worry,I'll do it for you" i offered

"You sure?"

"Yes i mean that's why I'm here"

"If you want to go,you can't go like that,go into that room and you will see a uniform change into that" midge said pointing to a room

I came out 2 minutes after and took the lemonade prepared by Midge

"I don't ever want to see you wearing this uniform" mom said with a little bit of tears

"Mom no stop we need the money" i tell her

I walked away but i just realized u didn't even know the room i was going and went back to ask Midge

"Oh silly me...go up the stairs down the hallway and turn to your left,its the 4th room by the right"

"Okay thank you"

I made my way through the mansion seeing the glass stair handle and the hallway was so huge with different doors everywhere and i eventually found the door and i knocked but there was no response,knocked again and no response i open the door and push my head into the room and I don't see anybody

I entered the masculine looking room,painted with the color Ash and black and alot of paintings

The owner of this room must love art alot

And i was still looking around until I turned and saw a man-boy and he wasn't wearing any clothes,my eyes went down and i saw what made me drop my tray and the glass broke along with the tray

I just saw a boy naked was all that was playing in my head
