Chapter 8: The Top 5 Gangs

I was walking around the school with Kylie for hours now. Today is not a normal day. Classes were cancelled and students are just walking around or just staying inside the dorms. This day was given to the students to grieve for Yna. Today is her last day at the funeral and all of the teacher and her classmates along with some of her closest friends went out of the university to pay respect to her.

“Is Victoria okay?” I asked Kylie while we were sitting at the school bench just beside the field.

“She will be.” Kylie answered without even looking at me. She was busy observing the students that were staying at the field to pass time.

“Everyone seems so quiet.” I said as I look around. Some are just talking but the others are just starring at the sky. No one was making loud noises.

“Yna is really a popular person. Everyone loved her, that’s why everyone is quiet too. If you got to know her, you will also fall in love with her personality. She’s really a person who you can trust.” Kylie said and sighed. I can also see that she is as affected as Victoria. But the difference is, Kylie didn’t know how she was killed.

Everyone didn’t know about it because the school and Yna’s parents decided not to make her death publicly. It was only announced that Yna passed away but the cause was hidden. Everyone was shocked because of it but they didn’t ask about why she passed away anymore. Maybe it is because they wanted to respect the decision of Yna’s parents for her sake.

“Based from what you said, I can already say that she is a lovely person.” I said and just let her be.

We aren’t with Victoria since she went with Yna’s class. The other presidents of classes also went with them since Yna is a class president too.

I think one of the gangs were also granted to go there and I really don’t know they would go there. I don’t think Yna is the type of girl that would join a group like that.

After a few hours of staying at the benches, Kylie and I decided to go to the cafeteria for lunch. I am getting hungry from doing nothing and just walking around all day. If I stay at the Villa, there would be a ninety percent chance that I would run into Hiro and I don’t want that to happen.

Ever since we started staying there, I always do my best so I can avoid bumping to that man. Luckily, I haven’t seen him since then. I always see his gangmates, and Geoffrey’s gang but I didn’t meet him, which is good. The less interaction we have, the less arguments we would have. I at least wanted to have a peaceful stay there until I find a way to return to the dorms.

“What’s yours?” Kylie asked me when we entered the cafeteria.

“Just Carbonara and Mango shake.” I said. She nodded and pointed at the table where we will sit. She’s already telling me to stay there and she will order for the both of us. She likes getting the food and I don’t know why.

While I was waiting for Kylie, I noticed that some students are now entering the cafeteria. They were all quiet until a group of people showed up. They all made noises like they were excited to see them in person.

“Oh my gosh, the Hackers!”

“Wow they’re finally out of their dens!”

“Omg Stan looks so good today!”

“This is the first time that I saw them this semester!”

This time I became really curious because it is my first time to see them. But can I note that the person who was walking in front of the group looked so familiar to me.

“Hackers, huh.” Kylie said when she came back with our food. She handed me mine while still looking at the Hacker’s table. “They really appear once a month.” She said.

“Are they somehow called a gang too?” I asked her.

She looked at me and sat down. “You can say that. They’re the support system of the Ace, Kings, Queens, and the Jokers.”

“The what?” I said.

Kylie looked at me and laughed a little. “Oh, right! We didn’t mention them to you the last time we talked about this school.”

“Yeah? I only know Geoffrey and Hiro’s gang but I am not aware that they have group names.” I said and rolled my eyes.

“Now you know.” She paused and sipped at her drink. “Ace is Hiro’s gang, Kings is Geoffrey’s gang, Queens is Jane’s gang and Jokers is-

“Wait what? Jane? As in the secretary of the student council?” I asked.

“Yes? Aren’t you aware of that? I thought you know it already because I saw that you interacted with her for a few times?” She said and took a bite from her food.

I shook my head and sighed. “I thought she was just a regular student since she wanted me to stay away from the gangs when she welcomed me on my arrival here.”

“She’s still putting up a show on new students, huh. She does that a lot.” She said. “Anyways, the Jokers is Riley’s gang and the Hackers is Stan’s gang. He’s the one sitting at the middle.” She said and pointed at the Hackers’ table. Oh, the guy who looked awfully familiar to me even though this is the first time that they went out in public.

“What do they do?” I asked. This is the first time that I am asking questions about the gangs. I am usually not interested in them but somehow, I started getting curious about them.

“Hackers are usually behind the scenes. They track and access most of the phones inside the school. I think they also gained access over the school’s system recently but haven’t had the access to all of the surveillance cameras? I think the personnel there are refusing to give them access to it.” She said before taking another bite from her food.

“They are one of the top gangs, right? Those who help the Regles de Pique with the illegal gangs? So, why aren’t they given the permission to access the surveillance cameras?” I asked. She looked around, making sure that no one is listening to our conversation, before answering me.

“There’s a hunch that some of the staff in the surveillance room are members of an illegal gang and they’re trying their best to prevent the hackers to have full access on the surveillance cameras.” She even went close to me just so she can say that. She went back on sitting properly after that.

“What about the Jokers? I think I haven’t seen them around, yet.” I said and drank from my mango shake. I am already half way done with my carbonara since I was busy listening to her.

“Oh, the jokers are always around but it’s very rare to encounter one. They are always hidden and are always observing all of the students. They are very difficult to deal with since they are always hiding from everyone. I also know that the illegal gangs fear the jokers the most since none of them are known to the public. Their names and appearances are kept hidden. I think even the Ace and Kings knows only two to three persons from that group including Riley.” She said. Wow, so we are being watched even if we aren’t doing anything bad.

“Why do they let Riley and the two people from the group known?” I asked. I am really intrigued because they kept their information hidden but decided to make the leader known. That’s kind of against what they’re practicing?

“Ah that, Riley doesn’t mind if anyone knows about him. Either way they can’t even catch or feel him.” She said and went back to eating. So, this Riley is out of everyone’s league?

“I assume Ace and Kings are the ones who face the illegal gangs and are just guided by the jokers and the hackers?” I asked. “Then what about the Queens?”

“Jokers only attacks when needed, while the queens are the lures.” She paused. “Most of the illegal gangs are composed of men so they act as the bait to get them out of their dens.”

“What?” I said. I get the part that they are baits but I am curious to how they act as one.

“You know that the boys are always out of the Villa at night, right?” She said and I nodded. “Well, they have this operation where in some of the queens goes wandering at night and then attracting illegal gangs that are outside then the boys will capture them and bring them to a special facility here inside the school.” She explained.

I was shocked to hear that there are facilities inside this school that was made for those gangs. I knew that there are some detention rooms but I didn’t know that there are special facilities for people like them. Are they doing something so serious that led to that?

Kylie dragged me out of the cafeteria when we finished eating our lunch. I guess she’s taking me somewhere.

When we arrived near the entrance of the forest, she turned to me. “Promise me you are not going to tell anyone that I brought you here.” She said.

“I promise. Are we going inside?” I asked her.

“No, because it’s dangerous inside. The whole forest itself is a special facility. This is were most of the illegal gangs are sent to. At the middle of this forest, there is an abandoned warehouse which serves as a prison for those who broke the rules. It also serves as a correcting facility. They are only released when they start changing their behaviors.” She said and started walking away. I, then, followed her quietly.

“You said a lot to me, how are you sure that I would keep it from everyone?” I asked. She was so confident and calm while giving me that information. How could she trust me so much at such a little amount of time?

“I just know that you’re not a person who would do something like that. You don’t betray people you consider as your friends.” She said and smiled. I just nodded at her and focused on just walking. She is right about that. I don’t betray my friends because I know how much it would hurt.

We went back to the main building. Victoria might be there already since they said that they will come back here after lunch and we were right.

Victoria was at the main building already. She was talking to the other students until she parted ways with them because she saw us coming. She approached us with a smile on her face.

“Are you good?” Kylie asked her.

“Not really, but I’m kind of okay now.” She said. Kylie and I nodded at her.

“Let’s just go back to the Villa so you can rest.” I said and we all walked together.
