Chapter 10: What?

“You can get down now.” Riley said. I jumped a little cause me to fall from the tree. Darn it!

I closed my eyes to get ready to be slammed down the floor but I suddenly felt a grip on my waist and arms. When I opened my eyes, I saw Riley carrying me with both hands.

“Are you okay?” He asked. I blushed and nodded. He nodded and let me down. “You’re heavy for your size.” He suddenly said.

“Excuse me? I am a tall girl!” I said in my defense but he just laughed at me. “What’s funny?” I asked.

“Nothing.” He said. “I can tell that you ready recognized me.” I rolled my eyes at him.

Who wouldn’t recognize that face? He’s appearance didn’t even change! Well, uhm, his body got stronger, definitely but other than that he’s still the same Riley that I know.

“Duh, you were the last person that I had connections with.” I said. When I got homeschooled because of what had happened, Riley is the last person that I cut ties with. He constantly contacted me even though it was quite difficult to do so.

“Right.” He said. “What are you doing here anyways?” He asked. He looked so curious as to why I am in the tree. I, myself, is asking the same question. I don’t even know why I was stuck in that situation.

“I was reading my book then I suddenly heard a scream. Hiro’s sister came in… you know what happened next. I didn’t have the chance to leave because I kept on hesitating.” I honestly said. Plus, I didn’t really want to leave knowing that Jaira entered the building and didn’t came out after. I wanted to check on her but the Dirigeants came. I didn’t have the choice but to stay and wait for an opportunity to leave.

“Did you somehow saw someone… coming out?” He asked. I looked at him in the eyes and I saw how serious he is about his question.

Yes. I wanted to tell him that. But I felt like I needed to confirm it myself first before even assuming anything yet. One thing is for sure, he might know something about what had happen inside the building.

“No, I didn’t saw anything. As I said, I was busy reading my book.” I lied. “You know that I don’t pay attention to anything that doesn’t concern me.”

“Right. You’re you after all.” He said and smiled. “You should head back to the Villa now. Geoffrey might come back before you. He’ll get suspicious.”

“I will. You should go to your friends now.” I told him and smiled. I turned my back to him and started walking away.

That’s the longest conversation that I had with him. We rarely talk before… because I wanted to cut ties with him too. Because somehow, he reminds me of what happened to me before.

I was dazed while walking towards the Villa. I keep on thinking about everything that had happened to me. I guess seeing Riley triggers something inside of me that I badly want to forget. Nevertheless, it was a great to see an old friend.

When I arrived at the Villa, Kylie and Victoria were already waiting for me outside. I awkwardly smiled at them because they both looked mad at me. They were even glaring at me when I went near them.

“It’s almost curfew time, Bella Gisella!” Kylie said. I giggled at her but that didn’t help. It just made her glare at me more.

“Do you know how worried we are? We thought you were kidnapped or something!” Victoria said. I understand why they think like that. I am already a target of that K and I won’t be surprised if anything happens to me again.

“I’m sorry, I was just too immersed on what I was reading that I forgot to check the time.” I said and pulled them both inside the Villa.

“Next time, always be aware of what time it is! This isn’t a normal school, Bella.” Victoria said and I just nodded at her.

Thankfully, Geoffrey and the others haven’t returned yet. Victoria and Kylie were the only ones here. If I haven’t left as soon as I can, they might have arrived here earlier than me.

“I am wondering why the others haven’t came in for dinner? It’s almost curfew time but they haven’t returned yet.” Victoria said as we sat in the living room. I badly want to tell them about what had happen but I believe that I am in no position to tell them why they aren’t here yet. Besides, Geoffrey and Hiro might want to keep it as a secret from the two. I may not be close to them but I still know how to respect one’s decision especially for a matter like that.

“Maybe they’re caught up with their work?” I said even though I really know why.

“Didn’t you saw any of them? We cooked dinner for many people but it would be a waste if no one eats it.” Kylie said. Right, ever since we started living here, Kylie, Victoria and I are the ones who cook for everyone. Those boys left that job for us like they pay us for our service! But I couldn’t complain since I am just someone who lives here because of the Dirigeants. If it weren’t for them, I may have been stuck elsewhere.

“I didn’t” I did. “Maybe they’ll come later after their rounds. Don’t worry too much, they can handle themselves. Plus, they wouldn’t miss a chance to eat after a tiring day.” I said to at least lessen their worries about those guys.

“You’re right. Maybe they just have a lot of things to do that’s why they aren’t here yet.” Kylie said and stood up to go to the kitchen, probably to prepare our dinner.

I was right when I said they would come home earlier that we expect. Before we even went up to our rooms, Geoffrey and the others came home looking so tired but they still managed to eat what Kylie prepared for them. They looked so exhausted because of what had happened.

I wonder what the note said. I am really curious to what it was. Argh! Here I go again with my nonstop curiosity that leads myself to being involved with the gangs. This is so frustrating! I can’t believe that I get so curious about everything that I encounter.

I just went upstairs because I wanted to rest my mind. I keep on thinking about things that has been done and the things that doesn’t even concern me. Why am I even like this? I don’t understand myself sometimes.

“It’s okay, Bella. You have yourself, always.” I whispered to myself before sleeping.

It took them four days before they announced Hannah’s death. Everyone that was close to her were invited to go to the funeral outside the school. Everyone was all shocked because of her sudden passing, including Victoria and Kylie. They weren’t aware of how she died, no one told them about how it happened, again.

It took them that long to announce what happened. It’s frustrating that the students aren’t aware of what is happening inside the school. Can I consider myself lucky because I get to know what this school is hiding from everyone else? Why do they even do that?

I know that Kylie and Victoria may have a clue about what had happened since they both know the reason why Yna was killed. It was because of K. He will keep doing this unless they give Her to him. But of course, no one is giving up a person for that stupid K. The only option that we all have is to find out who he is, and stop him and his plans.

When everyone was asked to go back to our own respective classrooms, none of the students are talking. It was like they started to get conscious of their surroundings. I understand that it is really shocking to hear two of the students here passed away in a span of two weeks.

“I hope it’s not because of what I think it is.” Victoria said while we were walking. I wanted to tell her that it is and she is right about it but I can’t tell them about it because the school decided not to tell about it. Plus, I don’t want to be the reason why Victoria and Kylie will be scared about this university.

“If it is, it wouldn’t shock me at all anymore. I know this school and what kind of students are staying here.” Kylie said that caught me off guard.

“What?” I asked.

“That’s what I’ve been wanting to ask you, Bella. What connection do you have for you to enter this kind of school at the middle of a semester?” Kylie asked.

Is she perhaps questioning me?

“Are you questioning who I am?” I asked. She looked so confuse about what I had asked her.

“No, I am just wondering.” She said and didn’t say a word anymore. Victoria kept quiet after that, too.

I started to wonder what they meant about “the kind of students staying here” in this school. Is there something that I still haven’t figured out? If there is, why didn’t they mentioned it to me?
