Chapter 2: The School’s Secret?

When I went inside my dorm room, it was quiet. I think they are still in their classes? I looked around the room and noticed that there are three doors. So, our rooms are separated and we also have our comfort room? That's great. At least I don't have to worry about my necessities being stolen by my dormmates.

It's a bit awkward to look around the dorm since they're not here. Maybe I'll just leave my luggage here in the living room then go around the school or the registrar to get my official schedule and class?

I took out a hoodie and my air pods and phone from my luggage. There's nothing wrong with me bringing my phone out, right? I mean, it's not my official first day. Geez, I can't believe that they even have a rule like that. Students would be so stubborn about their phones.

I went out of the dorm and went straight to the elevator. When I got to the first floor, I looked around to see anyone who I can ask about direction. Even the lobby was quiet. The only people I see here is the receptionist.

I walked towards her and she noticed my presence so she immediately smiled at me. "Can I ask about the direction? I wanted to go to the registrar." I said. She nodded and showed me a map of the school. She said I can't bring it so I have to memorize the ways. I can't even take out my phone to have a picture of it since it's forbidden to have a phone outside the dorms.

"You're the transferee, right?" She asked when I finished looking at the map. I just nodded at her as a response. "Don't worry about miss Jane's warning about the gangs. They don't attack innocent people." She said and winked at me.

"Uh… thank you?" I just said and bid my goodbye. Well that was weird. It was like she was trying to save the school’s reputation.

I walked out of the dorm and went straight to the pathways.

I can already see students walking on the hallways and the grass. Maybe the classes are already being dismissed. I guess classes here ends simultaneously. That's pretty odd. In my previous school, they separate the students per year.

I didn't mind the students looking at me as I pass by. I was just busy humming to the song that was playing on my phone. I can't hear them so I can just ignore them like I use to do.

I was walking and walking since the registrar is a bit far from the dorm. Then it started getting weird because the students started to part ways. Are they making their way for me? Why are they suddenly walking at the side of the hallways?

I was startled when I hit something, causing me to stumble and fall to the ground. Geez, I wasn't aware since I was looking around! Plus, the hallway is pretty big... why would I even bump into another student?!

"Are you stupid? Can't you see that we're passing by?!" He said. I grabbed my air pods that fell and stood up to face this tall guy with a fair complexion. His hair was a mess and he look like he just woke up from his nap. His eyes were bloodshot and his lips are red. Juicy, huh? Every girl would be dreaming of him.

He suddenly grabbed my arm so I snapped back to reality. "Wait, wait, let go of me," I said. He glared at me and held to my arm more tightly causing me to flinch because it hurts a bit.

"Can you let go?" I said. The girls around us started to whisper when I asked him to let me go. Who is he?

"Why would I? Should I teach you a lesson?" He said, still not letting go of my arm. He's pissing me off. I'm annoyed. I don't like touching and he's touching me too much. Mom won't even hold me like this for too long!

"I said let me go!" I yelled at him. The boys behind him started laughing at me. Everyone kept whispering too. Geez, they're getting in my nerves.

"Don't you know us?!" The guy asked. I looked at him with disgust. That's the first thing that he will ask a transferee like me?

"Do I look like I care about someone like you?!" I asked and I pulled my arm from him. I heard his friends said 'oooh' as a way of teasing this guy because I managed to get out of his grip. For a guy like him, he's pissed off about it.

"Seriously, tho. If you don't have anything to do, don't bully someone who was just passing by." I told him. Everyone started to whisper again.

This time I heard someone said that I might want to die, and why did I talk back to him. Seriously? He seems like he has a title in this school. Is he one of the gangs or whatever? Why does everyone make way for him?

"You—

He stopped talking when a woman smacked his head. His eyes were suddenly filled with fear. He's afraid of this woman?

"A girl? You're fighting with a girl in the middle of the hallway? Seriously, Hiro?" The woman said. She looked really elegant with the way she walked, talked, and dressed. She also looked like she's a teacher here because everyone stopped whispering when she appeared.

"Don't meddle with my business, Jaira." He said. Gosh! He doesn't have any manners!

"Is that what you say to your older sister? Are you looking for trouble, young man?" The lady said. Sister?! She's his sister?! How?

I mean, it can be when it's based on the looks but attitude-wise, I can't even tell! She's too elegant and this Hiro guy is too… well, gangster-like. How can they be siblings if they are both too different?

"Why are there too many students outside?! Go to your dorms! Gosh, are you all new here? I already told everyone in here that students are not allowed to stay at the hallways!" She yelled. The students surrounding us immediately walked aways in different directions.

I, on the other hand, walked past them because I need to go to the registrar now. If I don't leave yet, I might go there tomorrow instead and I don't want that trouble because of this person named Hiro. Come to think of it, I already wasted some of my time because of him.

"And where do you think you're going?" Miss Jaira asked me when I walked past her.

I turned to her and smiled. "With all due respect Miss Jaira, I didn't come here to pick a fight with your brother. I came out of the dorms to go to the registrar because I still have business there. I need to get my schedule for my first day." I said while emphasizing the 'first day' to give that Hiro a hint that I am new here.

"Wait right there." She said and turned to her brother. "Apologize." She told her. Hiro's friends were all frozen because of Jaira. She's intimidating when she's near you. You can feel that she has that aura that you can't defeat.

"And why would I? I didn't do anything." He said. I glared at him. Nothing huh? He just held me tightly! I am sure that this would leave a mark tomorrow.

"There's no need for an apology like he said, he did nothing but hold on my arms tightly that might leave a mark. Jerk." I said and walked away. I didn't bother to let them even respond to my remark. It's all a waste of time. He obviously would not apologize for what he had done.

When I finally found the registrar, I immediately requested my schedule and my uniforms too, so they won't bother to send it to my room anymore. I thanked the staff for their accommodation before leaving the registrar.

I saw a bunch of students in the hallway, they are also on their way to the dorms. They were all whispering stuffs that I can hear.

‘She's the transferee, right?'

'She's brave.'

'But she got on Hiro's bad side.'

'She's in real trouble.'

'Maybe she did that to get Hiro's attention.'

I just rolled my eyes in the air. Girls will always be girls, huh? They could think all of the bad stuff to a girl who they want to be but they can't. Do they think that I did what I did because I wanted that bastard's attention? I don't even know who the hell that guy is.

Someone suddenly got on my way so I stopped walking, again. Good thing that my uniforms and schedule are in a paper bag or it would have fallen on the floor because of this person.

"Jane? What can I do for you?" I asked. She looked at me in the eyes.

"I already told you to not get in their way." She said and smirked at me. This girl is really weird. Can this day be any weirder?

"I can manage myself, thank you very much. This school is not even that different from my other school. Chill out." I said and walked past her. She's weird.

I walked straight to the dorms and did not mind the other students that keep on whispering thing about me. When I reached the entrance of the dorm, two girls stopped me from walking. I was even startled because of both of them.

"You're Bella, right? The transferee?" The girl with brown hair asked me. She's as tall as me and has a deeper complexion than me but she looks really pretty. Her eyes were brown too.

"I'm sorry for startling you, I am Victoria and this is Kylie. We're your roommates!" The girl with a black hair said. She's taller than me and Kylie and she's paler too.

They look so innocent and young. That's good. At least I am not surrounded by girls who have nasty attitudes. I prefer them over those people who think highly of themselves. Yikes.

"Uh, hi?" I just said and they giggled. They grabbed my hands and dragged me towards the elevator. When we got there they still didn't let go of my hands.

What's with this school and touching? People keep on touching me, and it's just my first day here. I cleared my throat to catch their attention. It was effective since both of them looked at me.

"Can you let go? I already went to our room." I said to calm their excitement. They look like children who were given another doll to play with. It's annoyingly funny, to be honest.

"Sorry, we're just excited. We've been stuck with each other since grade seven and we didn't have other roommates. You're the first one, so we're excited!" Victoria explained. Her black eyes were shining, as well as her hair. She's really… really pretty.

"That's okay. No need to drag me." I said and smiled at both of them. They nodded and stayed calm. We went out on the third floor and they opened our dorm room.

Victoria and Kylie sat down the couch and I did too. They look like they wanted to talk to me more, but I am really tired right now. It has been a roller coaster for me today.

"So, you already know what you should avoid?" Victoria asked. I just nodded and smiled at her. Kylie rolled her eyes at me because I didn't even speak.

"You're so quiet, are you always like that?" She asked. Victoria sighed and she looked at me with an apologetic smile. I just shrugged it off.

"Not really, I'm just really tired. It has been a long day for me." I said. "Can you tell me where my room is? I want to rest."

"The black one is only the available one. We cleaned it already since it was dusty, the key is at the shelf." Kylie said while pointing at the door. I nodded and smiled.

"Thank you, that room is perfect," I said. I placed the paper bag at the top of one of my luggage and dragged it towards my room. Victoria helped me with one of them. I said thank you to her and she just smiled at me.

"We'll wake you up at dinner time." She said. I nodded at her and opened the door. They both went to their rooms probably to wash themselves up.

The room looks just like my room at our house. Black and white. It is another good thing that I had windows, or it would have been so suffocating for me. I don't like rooms that don't have windows. I don't know why, but maybe it has something to do with what I had experienced. A trauma, maybe?

I laid my luggage on the floor near the cabinet and started pulling out my clothes and placing them there. I need to do this now so I don't have to do it tomorrow. I have classes and I am honestly sure that I will be so tired for the next few days. If I also stumble upon that Hiro… my tiredness would be doubled. I can't take him. He's too much.

After putting all my clothing, my shoes, and necessities in place, I went to the bookshelf that was in my room and started to arrange the books that I brought from home. I just can't live without something to read. A book is a must for me! Period.

The last one that I saw in my luggage was the manual that mom gave. It was this school's manual. She had it with her for a long time now since she wanted to send me here so I can't make issues anymore that can affect her and our family business or whatever.

I grabbed the manual. It has 'Spade University' written on its cover. It looked so elegant because it was printed with gold. This school is not a joke. The details are just fascinating.

I opened the manual and the first thing that I saw was the rules and regulations of this school.

1. Never skip your classes. You won't like the punishment.

2. Never be late. If you're late, you have to proceed to the detention area.

3. Never go out at ten pm onwards. Curfew. Students who are caught outside at this time will receive the punishment.

4. No cellphone, or any other gadgets besides your laptop outside the dorm. You are only allowed to use cellphones inside the dorm.

5. Stay out of the gangs.

Well, the last one was creepy. Who would even have an interest in joining the gangs? This school is filled with popular students outside school life, they won't even have any interest in it.
