Chapter 3: Her First Day

I woke up earlier than usual. I don’t really know if I am excited, nervous or I just miss sleeping at my bedroom. Anyways, this is good since I still need to find my classroom. I really hope no one hates me because of what happened yesterday between me and Hiro. That guy… really.

After getting ready, I got out of my room. I am a little irritated because the uniform is too tight and short for me. This really don’t fit my style although the design is really cute. It’s just too girly for me.

The top has a long-sleeved inner top and a black coat. The coat has a white trim on it and a pocket near the chest. They also added a ribbon that’s placed on the neck. The logo is of the school is sewed on the pocket of the coat. The skirt is black that also has a white trim on the bottom of it. It has flits in it too

“Good Morning, Bella.” Victoria said when I entered the kitchen. They’re up early. I just nodded and smiled at her.

“You’re up and got ready early.” Kylie said. She took a bite of the sandwhich that she was eating. While Victoria sipped on her coffee.

“You’re our classmate, right? Section 12-A?” Victoria asked. “Let’s just go to the room together so you won’t be lost.” She said. I just nodded at her and got a glass of water.

“Have a bite.” Kylie said and pushed the plate full of sandwiches towards me. I smiled at her and took one then sat on the chair infront of them.

Kylie looked really sleepy while Victoria looked like she hasn’t slept at all. I was looking at them alternately because something seems wrong about them.

“Are you both okay?” I asked when I finished my sandwich. Kylie nodded sleepily. She’s really that tired, huh?

“We’ve been up for hours to finish our thesis, it’s frustrating.” Victoria said. I just nodded at her. Kylie left so she can get ready for school while Victoria is still finishing her coffee.

“I hope you won’t encounter Hiro today. He’s such a pain in the ass when he’s annoyed. Yesterday wasn’t a good day for him either.” She said. Yesterday was also not a good day for me but I didn’t go bullying other students.

“Yeah?” I said. Victoria and Kylie found out what had happened yesterday because of the students tht kept on whispering when we went out for dinner. They said that it was okay and Hiro is just really a huge jerk sometimes. I wanted to laugh when they said that it was just ‘sometimes’ but it felt like he’s always a big jerk.

When Victoria excused herself to get ready, that’s when Kylie went out of her room comfortably in her school uniform. She looked so sexy in black and white. No, actually she really looks stunning. It would not be a shocker when boys line up to her. She’s a beaut.

“You look gorgeous.” I complimented her. She laughed and went closer to me.

“You know, it’s the same for you but you look really stiff. Are you uncomfortable?” She asked. I slightly nodded at her question. “You’ll get used to it.” She said and went back to her room to grab her things. I also did the same thing and went back to the living room to wait for Victoria.

When she went out, we made our way out of the dorms. While walking at the hallway, the students still keeps on murmuring things about me and as usual, I would just ignore the shit out of them. I have no interest with the things that they kept on saying about me.

“Hiro really made you into the talk of the town, huh?” Victoria said. I just sighed at her thoughts. Is he really that famous?

“What do you expect? She went against a gang leader, take note, he’s the top one.” Kylie said. I gasped because of what I heard.

“Really?” I actually had an idea tha he was a gang leader because of the way that he acted infront of me yesterday but I didn’t know that he is the top one gang leader in this school. Does he have the skills?

“Yeah, that’s why everyone has their eyes on you. It’s the first time Hiro got shouted on by a student.” Victoria said. Our little conversation ended when we reached the classroom.

Kylie and Victoria entered first. Our classmates are noisy. Their noise can be heard even outside the classroom. I entered but I just stayed at the door and it was enough to witness the chaos that was happening in here.

“Vickyy!" One of them said when they noticed Victoria standing infront of the room.

"Guys settle down!" Victoria yelled. Everyone became silent and went to their proper places.

They stopped greeting me when they realized that I am not the teacher and that I am just a transferee. “Uh, hi.” I said to ease the awkwardness that I am feeling.

“She’s going to be our classmate from now on. Please be good to her.” Victoria said. She looks like she has a position in this class. Maybe she’s the president since everyone listens to her.

“Wow, she’s pretty.”

“The transferee?”

“She’s really… really pretty.”

“She’s that girl!”

“Yes! That girl who talked back to Hiro!”

I flinched when they mentioned that guy. He really did leave an impact for me. Everyone recognizes me as the girl who talked back to Hiro— a gang leader. Argh.

"Bella Gisella.” I shortly said. I don’t need to tell them everything right? I don’t like to mention my surname because they might bring up something that I don’t like to talk about anymore.

Victoria and Kylie already sat on their chairs. I am looking for a vacant chair while still standing in front. I managed to find one at the last line. But before I can even get close to that chair, a girl and her two friends got in my way. They managed to get everyone’s attention by doing that. Are they going to cause a scene? At my first day here?

“You’re only new but that’s how you’ll introduce yourself to us? Only you name?” She said and looked at me from head to toe. Our classmates didn’t bother to intervene because they don’t want to get involved.

“Oh, don’t worry. You can call me Bella.” I said and smiled at her. My classmates laughed at my remark that made her pissed off.

“You little—

I held her hand that was about to reach my face and twist it caused her to turn her back at me as she screams in pain. “I really don’t like people who attempts to touch me. This is only my first day here, don’t get too worked up.” I toled her calmly while she’s wincing in pain.

“Bitch, let me go!” She said. I nodded as if she can se eme and let go if her hand. She fell on the floor and her friends helped her immediately.

“Please, let’s all be nice to each other.” I told her and smile.

“You’ll pay for this.” She said and went back to her chair. She doesn’t have the energy? That fast?

I walked to the empty chair and sat there. I saw Kylie smiling at me and she also gave me a thumbs up. Maybe she liked what she saw. That girl is really mischievous.

The last line has two vacant chairs, I sat on the last one in the line so I didn’t have any seatmate with me. That’s fine. At least I can focus on the lecture.

"Good Morning, Class A." The teacher said when she entered the room. When she faced us, I immediately recognized her face. She’s Hiro’s sister. I think her name is Jaira? She’re really gorgeous.

"Good Morning Miss." Everyone said, including me. We all adjusted our seats too. Maybe my classmates don’t want to look like they’re scared of her…

"Oh, Bella,” She turned to me. “I forgot to welcome you yesterday.” She said and smiled at me.

“You don’t have to.” I said and nodded at her. She nodded back and smiled, then she turned around and started writing her topic for today.

When she turned around, everyone kept on whispering about me again. They kept asking about who am I because Inwas greeted by a teacher at my first day. Why? Is it such a big deal for them that I was welcomed warmly by Teacher Jaira?

She turned around again and faced us; everyone went silent. She started her lectures and I listened to her carefully.

It’s already lunch time and Kylie is now dragging me and Victoria to the cafeteria. She said that she’s really hungry and she needs to eat really soon. She didn’t have a snack during our break because they were too busy finishing up their thesis. Good thing I’m already done with that subject at my old school so I didn’t have to do it anymore.

Kylie and Victoria made me sat at a huge table and took my order. They insisted that I should just sit here and let them order my food. I don’t even know why they chose to eat in such a huge table. It was like fit for ten people and we are just only three.

"What are you doing in our table?!" I jumped a little because of this guy who suddenly appeared with his friends and slammed the table hard. I looked at him in disbelief. How can he be so rude? Seriously? What are they? Another gang? For pete’s sake, I keep on stumbling upon gangs that I don’t even want to meet!

The students were already looking at us because of the senario. It’s me again and another gang. Geez, I am really luck to the point that even karma wants to get back at me. I looked around the table to see if they even have a name in here.

“Your table? I don’t see your name in it.” I said and rolled my eyes at him. I’ll probably end up being the talk of the town again because of how I answered him. This is really ridiculous.

“Are you stupid? Do you even know who I am?” He asked. That’s a question that only a gang leader would ask.

“First, it was Hiro. Now, let me guess, another gang leader that I don’t care about?” I said. It made him so pissed off that he slammed the table again for the second time.

“Oh, you even know who we are but you have the guts to sit—

“Can you relax? She’s with us.” Victoria said to cut of the person who was annoying me in this table. She gave me my food and sat down besides me. Kylie sat down on the other side. I am already at the middle.

"Vicky!" One of them exclaimed. “Chill of Geoffrey.” He added. Then they sat one by one in our table too.

“You should really control you anger, brother. You’re being like your bestfriend too much.” Victoria said. Oh, so he is her brother. They’re like Jaira and Hiro. They’re too different from each other.

“Who is she?” Geoffrey asked Victoria. She smiled before answering him.

“She’s Bella, the transferee.” She said. Does she really have to mention that I am a transferee?

“Oh! So, you’re that girl! Hiro’s hallway enemy!” One of them said. They all laughed at his remark. They find it funny? That’s so annoying for me. I can’t believe that I’ve been tagged as his hallway enemy now.

“You did a good job, huh? Hiro got what he deserved.” Geoffrey said and sat down infront of me. I am really in an awkward position. I should be avoiding them but they keep on appearing infront me.

“Thanks, I guess?” I just said and started eating. Two or three of them went to the counter to get their food. Some just stayed and waited for them to comeback.

“So, how’s your first day so far?” Someone suddenly asked me. I looked at him and just stared at him. “It’s Yael.” He said. I nodded before answering.

“It’s fine… it’s a bit hectic because of all the gossiping about Hiro and I’s encounter yesterday.” I honestly said. He just laughed and continued eating. I did the same thing since I don’t really like to socialize with them.

During our lunch, they kept on talking about people that I don’t know. Is this what a gang discuss? I thought they’ll talk about fighting and all but all they talk about is their crushes, their gilfriends and other school gossips.

I didn’t bother to listen at every single one since it doesn’t even concern me. I just answer or nod when they ask me a question or they wanted my opnion on something. I can’t believe that I am having a conversation with gangsters.

When I finished eating, I stood up and excused myself. I don’t have any reason to stay anymore. I just told Kylie and Victoria that I’ll be going back to the room. They just nodded and told me that they would go back too when they finished eating.

Having lunch with those gangsters is weird. They don’t really talk about anything serious. It’s just all about what’s going on in their lives or maybe they talk about things like that because I was there. Maybe they don’t like anyone to hear about what they really need to talk about.

While walking, the other students on the hallways kept on making glances towards me. This is so frustrating. I just wanted to have a peaceful stay here but that Hiro already ruined everything for me. Just like always, I walked straight ahead and ignored everyone who keep on murmuring things about me.

This school is strange, the students are weird and it just seemed so off for me. Well, it is weird because it has gangs but is that the only thing to be feared of? Maybe there’s something else in this school that makes it scarier.

My brother definitely knows it, that’s why he doesn’t like the idea of me staying here for the rest of my school years. If that’s the case, why don’t he just tell my mom about it? He just kept on giving her excuses and is not telling her the real reason why I shouldn’t study here.

I stopped on my tracks because someone stopped infront of me. Again. This is really annoying. I looked up at the person and saw Hiro. He was smirking at me and he’s definitely trying to intimidate me and he’s not gonna be satisfied.

“What do you need?” I asked him and smiled to show him that I am not intimidated by a person like him. Why would I be?

“You still wouldn’t learn your lesson huh? Do you want an example?” He asked. I glared at him. He has the guts because he’s a top gangster. But if this happened in a normal school he would have been expelled.

“The corridor is not yours, mister.” I said to piss him off. How dare he show off his imaginary place to me? Whether he’s at the top or not, this place is still not his to begin with.

Everyone started whispering again because of what I said. They wouldn’t miss anything in this interaction huh? His friends were smirking at me behind him. I crossed my arms and raised my eyebrows at them. I am really… really annoyed right now.

“You little rascal.” Hiro said. I rolled my eyes at him.

“Coming from a rascal like you?” I said and walked past him. I even walked between his friends and everyone said ‘ohh’ like I hit a vein. I saw that all of the students in the hallway were already looking at me, including Jane who was already glaring at me.

What’s her problem, really? Does she have a crush on Hiro? She’s glaring at me like she wants to kill me. I just ignored her like how I ignored everyone in the hallway. I just silently thanked that I am not in the same class with her or any of the members of a gang.

“Hey, new girl!” Someone called me from behind but I didn’t even bother to look back at them. What a waste of time.

“She really has the guts to disrespect Hiro.”

“I wish her good luck. It won’t be an easy year for her.”

“One more encounter and she’ll be dead meat.”

I glared at the person who said I would be dead meat. She just pursed her lips and walked away from my sight. I continued walking and ignoring the students who pass by. My life is not even interesting to begin with, why do they keep on stealing glances and talkin about me because of those gangsters.

When I reach our classroom I immediately went to my seat. I noticed that there was a piece of paper that was left in my desk. I looked in the front, back, and side to see if anyone left it here. That’s odd, I remember that I put everything in my back earlier.

I opened the paper and saw letters. It doesn’t even make sense. It says:

"FGNL NSNL SEBZ UVEB BE RYFR"

Maybe it’s a cipher? If I remember it cleary, it might be the ROT13 since it uses letters. That would be the easiest way of creating a cipher.

“Seriously?” I said when I finished decoding the code. This is nonsense! I should have just spent my time reading a book than decoding this stupid code. I crumpled the paper and thrown it in the trash can near me. What nonsense.

“Did you run into Hiro again?” Kylie asked me when they entered the room. She went straight to me and didn’t even mind to go to her seat first. I just nodded in response.

“You’re the talk of the town again.” Victoria said. She was just behind Kylie when they came in. I just sighed at her. This is tiring, and this is just the first day.

A few moments later, out subject teacher went inside the room. Everyone returned to their own seats and said our greetings.

“Your teacher Jiro is out and he just asked me to give your school works for you.” She said. I can’t really see her face because she was wearing a mask. Is that even allowed? I mean, she’s a teacher.

“Okay, Miss Gi.” Victoria said and reached for the papers.
