Chapter 8 Trouble at work

Late in the evenings , Kim, who was busy making a very Delicious and tasty meal, heard a brief knock on the wood door ,who is there please? " she asked .They always locked their room door for safety , the boarding House just had way too many people .

"It's me, Alexa ," she replied. A faint voice was heard , Kim quickly opened the door and Alexa came rushing in , it was quite cold and Windy outside ,nobody would dare sit out there ,the weather was so grumpy.

" it's  so cold out there ," Alexa said while sniffing through the hot pot on the gas stove

"That smells so good,'' she said as she continued sniffing.

" Nothing special , just fried noodles and beef stool , go and change so we can eat," Kim said.

Alexa quickly changed into comfortable clothes and sat down , "I have good news for you," she said while trying to free her long hair that was tied in a ponytail.

"I love good news , what is it ? Tell me," she impatiently said.

"From tomorrow you are going to be working for a tiger shark company factory," she said while  whipping her long dark brown hair back in freedom.

Kim jiggled around in excitement, "really ,but wait how did it happen so fast lexa? " she asked. But Her smile quickly weaved , quit fooling around lexa , I know you are joking ," she said without giving Alexa a chance to explain.

"Am not fooling around Kimmy , I am serious . Listen, you will take my place at the factory Sir Michael already approved ," she explained. 

Kim who was still confused at everything Alexa said she kept quiet for a second ,her face showed a sense of surprise with a little confusion.

"How lexa ? What about you ? She asked while serving dinner to hungry Alexa.

Alexa sighs " I just got promoted  to be sir Micheal 's secretary," she sang loudly unknowingly disturbing the other girls  at the boarding house.

Kim grasped in surprise ,drawing in a draught of air in a loud hiss and letting it out  again with a sigh. "This is indeed good news , but I will have to go and resign from the cafe first thing tomorrow morning ," she said .

They ate dinner with so much excitement , they both couldn't wait to start going for work together and finally moving out of the boarding house , they both fell asleep talking about their next move.

The sun emerged and peeped through the window, causing brightness into their small comfort room. Alexa immediately woke up " oh my goodness it's morning already and I had not even turned from the position I slept in last night ,Kim wake up we  are late," she whispered. 

Alexa turned her head to Kim's position , she then realized Kim wasn't on the bed. "Kim ! " Alexa shouted . 

Kim, who had woken up an hour earlier, was busy writing her resignation letter on the floor.

" Girl , I am down here, there is still time  relax , start preparing  and go , I will follow behind , I still need to drop the letter at the cafe ," she said.

Alexa hurried and got ready ,she quickly tied her long hair in a ponytail. It wasn't her favorite hairstyle but she just has to do it so she can look presentable in a uniform.

She looked beautiful in her new uniform. She wore a short mini navy blue skirt , a white short sleeved smart shirt and short heeled comfortable shoes. She immediately got in a cab and went to work.

Upon  reaching ,Alexa went straight to Sir james's office just to check if he had come in but still his office was locked  , everyone at the factory had already heard the news that Alexa had been promoted even before she told them anything .Alexa  stopped Greg , who just came in .

"Good morning Greg , do you have any news about sir James," She asked.

Greg's eyes enlarged after looking at Alexa repeatedly, " Good morning ma'am ,wow you look beautiful I almost couldn't recognize you, " he said forgetting the question he had been asked. 

" Oh thank you Greg but the question, " she reminded.

Greg immediately interrupted her "oh am sorry ma'am , yea about that no I haven't heard anything from him, but I have his contact you can probably call him and find out , " he explained .

" That's even better , thank you," she said with a sense of relief on her face.

Greg gave Alexa sir James's contact and she immediately left from the factory she went rushing into the main building hoping that she wasn't late ,

 Just as he arrived at the office, she met a girl who looked so angry. Alexa showed concern but never bothered  to ask why she looked like that. As she took a step away from her , she accidentally sniffed a very strong perfume which almost gave her an  instant headache. She quickly realized it was actually Mr Michael's former  secretary.

" Gosh,  that's too much perfume ," she whispered to herself while trying to run away from the strong, heavy smell.

She quickly went into the office, Michael upon see her , he immediately froze and looked intensely at her in admiration from her beautiful long legs to her beautiful dark brown hair , 

It was almost like he was lost in Alexa's eyes who on the other hand kept calling him but he suddenly went deaf and dumb. She then called out so loud and the sound from her feet stamping the floor quickly followed , it was then that Michael came back to his senses .

"Excuse me sir are you OK , I have been calling on you for like a minute now," she said in anger.

"Oh oh , I am sorry ,here is your ID card ,Good morning ," he replied in confusion while scratching his head, unknowingly messing up his nicely arranged hair.

Lizzy his former secretary who was just by the door saw everything ,as smart as she was she quickly knew something wasn't right .

"Something isn't right here, Mr Michael fired me from my position yesterday ,then this girl whom he looked to be so in love with suddenly showed up, wait, isn't she not the girl he was with yesterday afternoon in his office ? Lizzy said to herself while  putting the pictures together at the back of her mind.

She was so confused about everything but finally puts everything together,

Oh my goodness , he is in love with her, that's why he got me fired and changed my position. Does Miss Ivy know about all this? she wondered. Ivy is actually Mr Michael's ex-girlfriend.

While Michael was busy giving Alexa instructions about what she needed to do , Kim on the other hand just arrived at the factory and needed assistance on 

Where to go. She called Alexa.

Alexa quickly excused herself As her phone rug.

" Excuse me sir ,"she said as she quickly opened the office door .

Lizzy who didn't know that mr Micheal  and miss Ivy aren't together anymore carefully took this opportunity to call miss Ivy so she can come and see what her boyfriend was busy doing in her absence.

Everything was going on well ,it was a quiet and relaxing afternoon.Alexa sat comfortably on a nice office chair just outside by the corner of Mr Michael's office and was busy reading some  papers about the company's history.  Her phone rug , it was Mr Michael who needed her attention in his office , she stood up without wasting time and quickly went into the office,

Mr Michael just ordered food and had it brought to his office. Alexa entered and was surprised to see so much food on his guest's launch  area.

" Do you have a meeting sir , " Alexa asked.

"Yes, with you ," he replied.

Alexa  clinched in fear,

"Excuse me sir , what do you mean ?" she asked. 

"It's Lunchtime already , so I ordered food so that we can eat together as friends," he nervously replied.

"There is no need sir ,I will have lunch with my friend Kim ," she said.

"You want me to eat all these alone, I insist please ," he said.

."Alright sir let me just text Kim ," she said while pressing on her phone.

Just as Alexa and Michael were busy having lunch together and lost in a very interesting conversation, Ivy suddenly stormed in unannounced ,trouble began . She quickly pulled Alexa by her hair and started accusing her of snatching Micheal from her , angry Alexa who doesn't let people walk over her gave Ivy a hot tight slap before Michael stepped in to Clear the air.

"How dare you slap me , you are nothing but a slut ," Ivy shouted in her high pitched voice .

" I didn't snatch anything from you , Your boyfriend is old enough to think for himself," Alexa shouted back.

" You mean ex-boyfriend, Ivy, you and I broke up, you made it clear to us  so get the hell out of here and never show your face to me again, '' Michael commanded.

 " I never said we broke up , I only told you we were on a break Michael ," she said.

"It's the same thing, we are not together anymore to me we are done , you left me for that Indian guy remember leave my office now ,security ! " he explained while calling security on her. 

Two men quickly came running in "get this woman out of here and if she ever comes here again you will lose your jobs are we clear?" Michael said.

Ivy was drugged out of the building ,she swore she was not done with Michael.

"Am sorry about that , will fix this," he said while Calling on Lizzy , she quickly came running in .

"I know you are the one who called ivy cause you are her puppet , why? Why did you call her to come here ?" He angrily

 asked her.

"Am sorry sir , I didn't know you broke up, believe me," she cried out.

" You messed with my peace , so you will pay dearly for that. You are fired, go and tell ivy to employ you in her father's company, "he shouted . 

Michael was so short tempered and he reacted to anything . Alexa, who was standing there, didn't see any reason to fire Lizzy .

" Calm down sir , there is no need to fire her , she already said she didn't know you two had broken up ,please sir let her keep her job," she pleaded.

Michael sighs as he excelled calmly " OK, I am giving you a second chance , Thank Alexa or you could have lost your job , and can you quit wearing that strong perfume , nobody likes that smell now get out !" He shouted.

Lizzy quickly ran out of the office while sniffing herself .

Alexa could not help but laugh at Mr Michael's statement. " Seriously sir , she should stop wearing her perfume that was rude, " she jokingly said.

They both laughed out so loud as they continued having their lunch.
