Chapter 7 Alexa's promotion

Alexa sat down on her bed that night and reflected on what had happened. She was deep in her thoughts and  Kim just walked in from her night shift at work , she quickly changed into her pajamas and joined Alexa .

"Hey girl , you won't believe what happened today," Alexa said in excitement.

"What happened ? you seem to be very happy ," Kim said while busy scooping rice from a pot.

"Okay, try guessing," She said.

" Seriously, you know I'm not good at that , just tell me I'm getting curious here," Kim said with curiosity.

"Okay,  Micheal and I are friends now ," She said.

Kim, who had her mouth full of rice, couldn't believe what she just heard.

" Wait, what? Are you serious? How did it happen? " She asked.

"Long story short , Daniel harassed me again just after my shift , surprisingly Michael was just at the Main building and he came running just to save me , he even helped me press charges against him then later we had a friendly conversation and later dropped me off ," Alexa explained. 

"Wow that was quite fast , all thanks to that Daniel now you are one step closer to the truth," she said.

" I guess so, but there is something else bothering me right now," She said.

Kim 's smile quickly wavered.

" What exactly?  is it the fact that you didn't tell Michael that Daniel almost took advantage of you ?" She asked.

Alexa quickly rolled her eyes and signed in frustration.

"No girl , not that ,  that's  not even necessary . it's actually about what sir James said earlier, He said he has been with the Websters for 20 years now , " She said.

Kim was surprised to learn about this information ." really , so that means he probably knew your parents Lexa , this is good news , but did you ask him how ," she said with a sense of surprise on her face.

" That's the problem , I didn't get a chance to ask him , I didn't have much time but will definitely ask him tomorrow morning," she said.

"Don't worry Lexa , the truth is slowly coming out , you will learn about everything soon enough," She assured.

Alexa and Kim were both happy that everything was slowly working out ,after some hours of jokes then went to bed.

Early the next morning , the girls both went to their respective places of work , Alexa on the other hand was so excited about this day she couldn't wait to see sir James.

Just after reaching , she dropped her things off and went straight to sir James's office , but sadly it was too early and sir James hadn't come in yet.

Sir James didn't come in , he was unwell and couldn't manage to report for work. 

It was break time already ,  Alexa couldn't help but ask one of the employees where sir James was.

"Hey  Greg , have you by any chance seen sir James around here today?" she asked.

"No ma'am, sadly he isn't reporting for work today," he answered.

Alexa's eyebrows suddenly went up in shock " why? What happened? She quickly asked.

" he has been reported to be unwell , he won't come in till he has fully recovered, " He answered.

"Oh , is that so , wait, do you know where he stays perhaps," she said.

"No ma'am , I am sorry I don't know where he stays," He said.

Alexa got frustrated by this ,but then realized there was still time ,she needed to be patient." This is sad , I hope he gets better soon," she whispered.

Just as Alexa was busy whispering and wondering about what had happened to sir James, Micheal on the other hand was busy looking for  her but didn't know her name hence , he was busy describing her to the factory workers at the entrance.

Luckily he asked Greg and he was kind enough to show him where she was.

"There sir , that's the girl you are looking for , her name is Alexa ," he said.

"Oh thank you so much, I really didn't know her name ," Michael said.

He quickly went to her , wondering if it was really her , they met at night hence , he didn't see her clearly.

"Hello !" He called  in his deep  calm voice.

Alexa, who was looking the other way, quickly turned . She realized it was actually Michael .

Surprised, Alexa  couldn't believe her eyes.

" Hi sir , what are you doing here?" She asked .

"Am here to see you , am sorry I forgot to ask your name ,how stupid of me," he replied. 

"Oh yea , sorry I forgot to introduce myself , my name is Alexandera but you can call me Alexa ," she said.

"Wow such a beautiful name, well my name is Micheal , you can call me Micheal," he jokingly said.

"Yea, I mean who doesn't know you around here,  nice meeting you again sir" she said.

"Can we go and talk in private ,please?" Micheal asked.

"No sir, my break is almost over , I will need to go back to work soon ," she said.

" Hey don't worry , even if you skip work no one can fire you, trust me , let's go," he ordered .

"No sir , I don't want other employees to think like I am getting special treatment here ,please understand , we can go at Lunch time , " she explained.

"Wow I love how  considerate you are about others ,  alright we will go at lunchtime , promise?" He said.

"Promise! But where are.we going ? " she asked.

"To my office , I want to talk to you about something," he replied.

"But sir , I am not allowed in the main building ," she said .

" I make the rules , don't worry ," he assured. 

Michael quickly left and Alexa went back to do her shift. Happy Alexa couldn't  stop smiling as she worked and waited for Lunchtime.

At lunchtime Alexa went to see Micheal as she promised. Each time she entered the main building, Alexa would feel a sense of hopefulness and be encouraged. "Everything will work out  some day." She would say to herself. 

She went straight to Michael's office but Micheal was also coming to pick Alexa up.They met at the hallway.

."was coming to pick you up , I figured you might feel shy coming up here,"  He said.

" Not really , wow it's so cold up here," She said.

They both went into the office and sat down .Alexa looked through the opposite office while seated in Michael's office. She was  hoping to see her uncle, but couldn't see anybody there.

"That's your dad's office I guess , " she asked.

"Oh yes , but he isn't around , he went to a business meeting , he will be coming  back next week," He explained.

Alexa was glad she didn't meet Luciano. She had already planned on how to meet him , but it wasn't the right time yet.

"But I brought you here so I can tell you something, so I went through your qualifications earlier , i got the information from the Human resources and they told me you being hired here was not even known to them till much later but that's not the issue here , was actually Wondering why you agree to start working at the factory with such good qualification, you could have applied to a much higher position at least," he explained.

"Well at the time of employment I was really desperate for a job , it happened that the only work they had was at the factory ,I had no choice but to take it" she replied.

"Oh I see , but can you work as my secretary?" He asked.

The surprise on Alexa's face was so unexplainable , she didn't know what to say.

"Sure sir , but what about your current secretary ?" She asked in fear.

"Oh that one, don't worry I will give her a much better position, besides she gives me trouble,  she wears this strong perfume that  I don't like. I am allergic to such a strong smell ," He said.

Poor Alexa couldn't hold back her laughter , She laughed so hard and almost forgot that Micheal was there.

" Oh, I'm sorry , I didn't mean to laugh out loud but that was a lame excuse you know , but alright, I will take the job," she said.

" I know , but the perfume part wasn't an excuse, I was actually serious about that , it's good you have accepted the job you can start work tomorrow ," he  said with a serious face.

Alexa saw this as an opportunity to get her friend Kim hired at the factory.

"Ah sir , " she called while Sturmering .

" Yes , so do you have any questions," he asked.

Alexa was not sure if Michael was going to agree on what she wanted to say but she went on to try.

" Since you want me to be your secretary and there won't be anyone to do my shift at the factory , I was hoping to recommend someone to you who could actually take my position there, " She explained.

" Yes, sure , do you have anyone in mind ?" He asked.

" Yes , my friend Kimberly , she's so Hard working and she really needs a job ,"she answered.

"As much as I don't care about what goes on at the factory , yes you can tell her to see the HR tomorrow morning , she will handle everything, " He said. 

"Wow , that was fast," Alexa whispered.

" sorry you said something ?" He asked.

"Oh no I just said thank you sir, " she replied.

Alexa immediately realized that she could actually use Michael to carry out all her plans , he wasn't too smart but rather a spoiled brat who gets whatever he wanted.

Alexa quickly stood up and went back to the factory.

"Wow this was easier than I thought, everything is falling into place ," she said to herself while walking down the hallway back to the factory.

Alexa couldn't help but worry  about sir james. He was the only key for her to know the truth , looking at sir James's old age Alexa got scared she didn't want anything bad to happen to him.

Few hours later her shift was over and she  quickly went home. She was excited to share the good news with kim.

Micheal immediately showed up at the factory looking for Alexa ,he forgot to get her contact number  but sadly he was told she had already gone .

Oh my goodness, I forgot to get her contact, no maybe I'm rushing things , she might take it the wrong way , yea it's good she's gone," he whispered to himself while going back to his office .
