Chapter 9

ALEXIA POV

I sat looking at where Nick just got up

Knowing he's going to meet Stella makes me sad

Sighing sadly I got up and took the tray from the counter and angrily left the cafeteria, unknown to me, Dave was watching my every move because he silently followed me

I was about to go to class when I saw Nick near the garden talking to Stella

Just by looking at him, I knew he was already crazy about her

Who wouldn't? Stella is very beautiful, much beautiful than an ugly girl like me

I walked and instead of going to class I'm heading to the roof

I was enjoying the peace and quiet when I heard his voice behind me

"I told you this place was only for my use" I turned around and found Dave

"I'll leave then" I said walking past him only he grabbed me again

"I didn't ask you to leave" he said looking at me

"Look, I'm sorry, I totally forgot this place belongs to you but next time I'll surely remember, now please let go of my hand" I said looking at him and he snapped at him. let go

"If you're looking for Nick I saw him go through the music room with Stella and if you know your best friend like me then you need to know what he went to do with her" He quipped softly

Without bothering to give him an answer, I went back to class

What he said kept bothering me and Nick made it worse by not coming back to class with Stella

As soon as the course was over, I received a message from him

"I'll be at the school entrance waiting for you, as soon as you're done, come meet me there"

I smiled seeing his message, at least he didn't forget that I was still there

Picking up my bag, I walk towards the entrance of the school and I saw him there waiting by the car

There have been times when he tends to be a real jerk but just looking at him and the way he is I still find my heart softening towards him

"I thought you forgot about me, since you're so busy with your new conquest" I said

"She's not my new conquest Alexia, Stella is......she's something how different from the others and you're someone I'll never forget, you want to know why?" ' asked and I nodded softly

"Because you are my best friend, the first girl that has ever been in my life and no matter what, you will not be the second best for me" he said and that melted my heart

I gave him a smile which he returned and then we both got in the car and it drove us home.

As I prepared for my part-time job, I kept reminding myself of

"You won't be second best to me" he would stick to his words

Just knowing that I will never be the second best in his life has made me so happy.

"Mom, I'll be leaving soon" I said to my mother who was in the kitchen

"Ok my child, God be with you" She said quickly making a sign of the cross over me

Came through the back door only to see Nick get into a car, I was about to call him but it was too late because the car drove off

I left for work, I still feel happy about what he told me earlier

Throughout the work I was in a good mood, I smiled brightly and I was polite to them, some I even joke with them

I was still in a good mood when I saw Dave walk into the restaurant.

I was still looking at him when he saw me and noticed the shocked expression on his face when he saw me.

He smiled and approached the counter

"hello sir, what would you like to have" I asked being professional

"It wouldn't be bad to have you, would it?" he asked smiling

"Excuse me?" I asked pretending not to hear what he just said.

"I said I would like a cup of iced tea" He replied changing what he just said

"If you'd like to sit over there I'll bring it to you" I said and he gave me a smile before leaving

DAVE POV

I sat by the window watching Alexia do her thing

If she hadn't had anything with Nick, I would have made her my daughter

She might not be beautiful because of her lack of makeup and all

But deep down I know that with just a touch of makeup she will be very beautiful

One thing that fool Nick didn't notice

Well, it will be an advantage for me because I will get closer to Alexia and can help Stella in her revenge while she does with mine

She was the one who called me and told me to come here and I was surprised when I walked in to see Alexia

I smiled softly, if Stella is planning something then I think it must be a perfect plan

"Your iced tea" Alexia's voice beside me brought me back to reality

I looked at her and I smiled and against the shot I found myself looking at her stone and I wondered what it would be like if she smiled, how would her stone face be if she smiled a little bit

"thanks" I said and she was about to leave when I pulled her hand

"Why don't you sit with me" I asked

"As you can see I'm working" I said

"I'll save your time, tell me how much it is" I asked still holding on to her hand

"This....... "

"Wow it's so good to see you here Dave" Stella's voice stopped her from finishing her sentence

We both watched Stella who had her arm tied to Nick

Unwittingly, I found myself with Alexia who was watching their clenched hand

I looked at Nick and saw him play our hands

Was he jealous? I thought and just then Alexia pulled her hand away looking guilty

And that's when I realized my theory that Alexia was in love with Nick was true.

NICK POV

If someone had told me that when I decided to come to this restaurant I would meet my best friend holding hands with my enemy, I would never have believed

Wanting to help Alexia with advertising in her workplace, I decided to use this restaurant

Only to see her hold hands with the bastard I told her to stay away from

Why is he here? I thought

"Why don't you join Dave, Nick" Stella said pulling me to a seat

"You can join us too Alexia" urged Dave

"Sorry but I have to work" she answered

"Join us Alexia, it's been so long since we've talked, Remember how we were best friends in middle high school" Stella said suddenly

I looked at Alexia and saw her grimacing back, did these two know each other?........
