The car was black and sleek, the windows were so dark I could barely see out the window. Cars like this line the street of my neighborhood every female primped and polished ready to make an impression while I was ready for the night to end.
The car halted at the royal castle, I hate to admit it, but my jaw was slightly ajar at the beauty the castle holds. There was a red carpet that lead to the ballroom I'm guessing and my grandmother happily locked our arms and lead me through to corridors into the ballroom.
As soon as we stepped it was like stepping into a movie, there was a gorgeous crystal chandelier
hanging in the middle of the room, there was a stage were a classical band was playing music and people in tux and different colored gowns waltzed about.
Some gave me a look of disgust while the rest either looked curios or too drunk to notice, a tall man with black greying hair and mesmerizing hazel eyes came up to us.
"Hello, I'm Johnathan." He smiled politely at us getting a waft, he was human. Something I never expected at an event like this one.
"I'm Ellis and this is my granddaughter Danielle." I gave a tight lip smile while my grandmother grinned so hard, I thought her face would crack.
"Well Ellis would you care to dance." She nodded and gave me a kiss on the cheek before she walked away with Johnathan. I rolled my lips together, feeling awkward.
I stood to the side and watched as people danced and laughed. Not a care in the world and amongst them my grandmother.
"Dannie!" Looking over I caught a glimpse of blonde before Rosslyn launched herself into my arms. She had on a pink princess gown and her hair was French braided.
"Hello my little princess." She smiled sheepishly, her cheeks tinting.
"I've missed you." She mumbled playing with her fingers, I smiled grabbing her hands in my own. "I'm here now." She smiled and hugged me again, I could never get tired of this little girl.
"I want to show you something." I nodded and let her guide me through the people, we stopped at one of the walls were a red velvet curtain laid against. Rosslyn reached behind it and pulled out two chocolate cupcakes.
She handed me on and ate the other for herself, I giggled. Taking a bite.
She reminded me so much of myself when I was younger, so much life, so much ambition, so much character.
"Rosslyn I thought I told you no more sweets." An older woman with the same blonde hair and blue eyes as Rosslyn scolded her, I quickly set the cupcake down.
"I am sorry, it was my fault. I didn't realize." Her mother observed me and nodded.
"You should get back to the ball, Rosslyn let us go. We’re going to miss our flight." She nodded and ran off with her mother.
Sighing I made my way back to the ball, this time sitting at a table.
"Mate." His voice sent a shiver up my spine like a river, I bite my tongue silently cursing to myself.
