Chapter five

Danielle Greystone’s point of view A couple days later

"Dannie." My grandmother hissed kicking me under the table, biting my tongue from letting out profanities I looked up at her. She gave me a pointed look then nodded her head towards the priest of our small town.

Every Sunday my grandmother makes me go to church with the rest of this pack and attend the priest dinners, I honestly see no point in this. I mean my whole existence is a sin and I am going to

hell anyways.

"Danielle." My grandmother said louder and little sterner this time really grasping my attention, I just cannot help it. He is manipulating all my thoughts, every time I try to think of something else his piercing eyes and gorgeous hair halt my other thoughts.

My eyes darted from my fuming grandmother to the towns priest. Thinking rather quickly I scoop some peas into my mouth.

"Mmhm yum." I almost vomit at the horrid taste; I absolutely hate veggies. They seem to buy it though and continue with their conversation without me.

"Did you hear the alpha king has sent out a message saying he's looking for his mate?" From the very corner of my eye, I can see my grandmother nod at the priest words.

"He has requested every female to attend to his ball he's holding in honor of finding his mate. Including the females from here in our old' little town, can you believe that Ellis?" The excitement in his voice had me already anticipating his next words. "Are you planning on attending Danielle?" He smiled warmly and I almost scoffed.

"Um i-i-" I struggled to find the words that would ease his questioning thoughts.

"Yes she is. In fact, I already have her dress. We plan to start getting ready as soon as we return home." My grandmother answered for me and I swear my jaw was on the ground.

That little conversation had the dinner cut short I was grateful but when we stepped inside the house my grandmother started her magic. The dress was gorgeous, and I was in love with it. She put my hair in tight little curls then she pinned it into a neat bun with a studded clip that shimmered in the light.

She gave me pearls to put in, pairing the dress with black pumps and finally she added some Chapstick. She and me both agreed on no makeup and I was grateful I hated to make up.

She put on a beautiful purple gown that swept across the floor when she walked, I stood in front of the mirror. My locket dangled gently around my neck, a tear slipped.

The pain of missing my parents has never left my heart, it is like a whole that is never going to close. My grandmother came up behind me. Her hands rested on my shoulders and she smiled at me through the mirror.

"They would've been so proud of the gorgeous young woman you've become." I smiled back; I wrapped my arms around her in a tight hug. A car honk outside had us separate.

I looked over to her confused.

"I guess he sent cars to pick us up." She shrugged, I sighed and stole one last glance before she tugged me gently out the door.
