Chapter 8 - Not Enough

"Mommy, are you crying? Your eyes were swollen and your nose turned red," Kyrie said innocently.

Agnes smiled a bit to her and opened her arms to hug her. She forgot to close the door of her room so she didn't notice that her daughter entered. Did she heard her sobs earlier?

"Mommy just watched a sad drama so I cried a lot. But I'm okay now. See?" She acted okay in front of her so she won't be lonely too.

Kyrie pouted and touched her cheeks to wipe the remaining tears. She wanted to cry again but she stopped herself so her daughter won't be carried away. She's so soft so she might cry too even without knowing the real reason.

"Mom? Kyrie? Why do you look so melancholic?" Kyron just entered the room, bringing a plastic of marshmallows.

Agnes gestured him to come closer so she could hug him too."Nothing. Mommy's just getting emotional. But I'm okay... as long as you two were here."

"We can stay in you room since you feel better, mommy. We don't want you to feel alone," Kyrie's little voice touches her heart.

She just nodded in response and made herself comfortable in her bed, with her twins on both sides. She somehow felt at ease knowing that she's on her real home now. Her children. The twins. They will always be her home no matter what.

"Mom? What made you so sad when you got home earlier? Did your boss scolded you?" Kyron asked seriously.

She couldn't help but to let out a smile because of his tone. Kyron's sense of feeling is always active and he can always caught someone off guard... even her that his mom. Whatever alibi she's going to say, he easily finds out if she's lying or not.

"No, it's not Mr. Topaccan. He's good to me, but still I'm being careful. Its j-just... some people around us," she sighed with a heavy heart.

Kyrie looked up to her."Why, mom? Did someone judge you because of your stage in life? Do people hate you?"

"Kind of, sweetheart. People are so judgmental."

"Remember what you told us, mom? Don't listen to the opinion of others, listen to yourself instead. People just talk negative things about you because that's what they saw outside. No one knows your whole personality but yourself," Kyron lighted up her mood.

She bit her lower lip when she's about to cry on her son's words. He's right, of course. That's what she taught them. But it doesn't mean that it's not hard for her to apply those things she's been teaching to her children. She only said that for them to be motivated and grow up without thinking about the insults that people will throw on them. Little did they know, even their mother, wasn't that brave enough to do it all.

"Yes, I know. I remember it very clear. But you can't avoid getting hurt sometimes because of them," she said in a lower voice.

"Who hurt you, mom? Tell me and I won't forgive her until he/she says sorry to you," Kyrie insisted.

"A sorry isn't enough to make people forgive, Kyrie. Its just a simple word, can be a lie or can be swallowed that easily. No matter how sincere that person is, if he/she did something that broke my trust or hurt me so bad, I would never forgive that person," Kyron sounded definitely serious.

Agnes slowly shook her head."We're just human, baby. People make mistakes over and over again. We're not saints so we should know how to forgive each person how big that mistake is."

"That's only my own perception, mom. We don't have the same opinion. But for me, that's it," he shrug off his shoulders.

She's amazed on how he could give his own perception about something. Is it good for him? He's still a kid though he already know how to get mad at the persons he doesn't even know at all.

She was drowned with different thoughts inside her head until she noticed that the twins already fell asleep beside her. Seconds after, darkness slowly consumed her and everything went black.

"Are we going for a bonding, mom? Have you received your salary?" Kyrie was getting nosy, obviously excited.

Its been two weeks after that event she attended and she could say that everything's going through smoothly. She haven't seen them again for weeks and its a good sign for her. Well, she's also doing her best not to cross her paths with them again.

She's in the stage of climbing to the middle part of her journey.

"Yes, baby. You two can buy what you want. But as what you've promised, two things will be enough. Okay?" Agnes asked certainly.

"Don't worry mom. Two books can't reach five hundred pesos," Kyron assured her.

She both smiled at them and guided downstairs to wait for a taxi to pass by. They dropped into the Mall and her excited babies pulled her inside. As what they've agreed, they both get two things they wanted.

Kyron who's addicted to books isn't a big deal for her. Kyrie, who's fond of fashions asks her if she could buy a new dress and a headband. Of course, she couldn't say no to her princess since she only ask them to buy things once a month. She limited them in having things they wanted so they won't get spoiled that much. It won't do any good when they grow up.

"Mom? Can we go to the arcade first? Its still 11:00 and I'm not yet hungry," Kyrie pouted, giving her puppy eyes.

"Sorry, baby. But you have to eat first before playing. Remember what I've said?"

She nodded that means she will obey her from now on. When they were about to enter the restaurant inside the Mall, her feet glued on the ground but managed to turn her back.

What the heck are they doing here?!

"Mom? Is there any problem? I thought we'll gonna eat first," Kyron's brows furrowed.

She gave them a small smile."Are you guys not that hungry? The restaurant was a bit crowded so I decided to take you to the arcades. Come on!"

Kyrie's face lightened up and grabbed her hand away from there. She let just let her since its really better to get away from that place. Its not great idea to let Jash see the twins. Even if he didn't know them, he might suspect. Prevention is better than cure, they say.

"I'll just stand here in the corner. I don't like playing that games," Kyron said in a calm voice.

She let him do what he wants and guided Kyrie whatever games she's playing. After playing around three games, her eyes switched on the dance floor where you're going to dance with your mom... and dad. Agnes saw how amazed her daughter was while watching those complete family enjoying that game. She somehow felt a pang on her chest when she realizes that Kyrie wants to try that one too.

"D-Do you... want to dance too?" Agnes felt like her throat went dry when her daughter didn't answer.

Kyrie was busy watching over the happy family in front of them. Almost all of the kids wants to play that game because they were complete, while they lacks someone. It doesn't matter for Agnes because she can be their mom and dad but for a kid like Kyrie, she knew that her daughter wants to feel having a father.

"Baby.. listen.." Agnes holds her chin to look at her eyes."W-We can.. dance if you want to. Hmm?"

"I'm hungry, mom. Can we eat now?" Kyrie asked in a lower voice.

Agnes sighed when her daughter changed the topic. But its better to avoid that topic because... if ever that Kyrie asked something about her dad, she doesn't know how to answer her. They never asked about their dad ever since... or they just didn't want to ask her to avoid the heavy atmosphere.

"What happened to you, lil sis? Don't you enjoy playing?" Kyron curiously asked his twin when he noticed that she's been quiet for a while.

"No. I enjoyed. I just felt so hungry," she answered.

Agnes ordered what they wanted since its her treat. She stared at her lovely kids while eating. They felt contentment on what she's giving to them. But she knew... deep inside Kyrie was bereaving because their father wasn't with them. And Agnes felt sorry for that knowing that her father might not going to accept them.

He's starting to build his new family... and they were just ashes to his life now.

"Did you guys enjoy our bonding?" Agnes asked smilingly, hiding the pain in her heart.

Kyrie stared at her for a long time."I did enjoy, mom. But isn't it more enjoyable if dad is here with us?"

Seems like something cut off her tongue after hearing Kyrie's side. Her rants.

"If he has the heart to be with us, he should've been there ever since we were born. But he's not, Kyrie. Stop thinking about him anymore," Kyron walked pass by and went directly inside their room.

"I'm not as hard as you so I easily get hurt, brother," Kyrie whispered.
