Chapter 7 - The Night

"Y-You were with her? She's you escort? I thought you invited someone who's in your level.. I didn't know that it will turns out to be like a commoner woman," Eve gave her a meaningful look.

Based in her tone, she doesn't likes her to be in their event. Her looks insinuates that she should go now and leave Revo away. Though, Agnes knew that she can't do that... they can't.

"Is it surprising? Well, I'm not really into those women who are obviously have high stages in life. And I don't have enough time to search for an accompany so I just invited her. It won't take too long, though," Revo answered politely.

"So, you preferred those who have low qua---"

"Sorry for their questions. Just enjoy the night, Mr. Topaccan and... t-to your escort," Jash cut off Eve's words and glanced at her.

She just gave them a small smile and cling her arms to Revo. She's not sure if they will get insecured but doing that will make them look up to her this night. They can't bully her as much as they want.

"Congratulations in advance. Have a great night," Agnes fake her smile at them.

When they finally get away from there, she slowly get off her hands from him. She smiled fidgety. She doesn't know if he got a hint that they don't like her. Though, she just acted normal earlier so maybe there's nothing to get suspicious.

"I felt sorry for their act. They were just like that. Not mingling with people underneath them," he said with concern.

She just nodded, showing that she understand it all."That's what I've been thinking before I came here. Its not really good to interact with those people who think they were above anything and acts as if a mighty one."

"Thats deep, huh? Do you hate elite people?" he couldn't help but to ask.

"No. I just don't like them. Most of them underestimates others who they think are just useless. Little did they know, they won't reach what they have right now if not because of the help of those who were below them." She accepted the wine and took a sip on it.

They didn't talk that much after that, maybe because its like a enigma for him. He probably didn't get it. He's not also in her place so its just normal not to understand her perception.

The dinner took that long so Revo decided to take her to the photo booth of the event. It was decorated by the designers they hired and there were some of them who asked for a photographer to take pictures of their partners and friends. Agnes was still hesitant to go there but it was what she promsied to Lowella. Moreover, declining Revo's offer will embarass him in front of them.

"Just three pictures will do." She kept on smiling so everyone will think that they were really close to each other.

Argh. Since when did she care of others opinion? If not because of the job she had right now, she won't have a gratitude to do this with him. She owe him for letting her pass as one of the workers in his company even if he won't say it.

"Three? I though its gonna be one take only." The side of his lips rose up.

She cleared her throat and looked away."Lowella wants to have a picture of us as her... souvenir."

"And what's with the third picture? For your collection?" he asked huskily.

She doesn't know why he's being weird but after realizing that there people who were watching them, it calmed her down a bit.

She cleared her throat."A sort of."

Its just only three pictures with them but they almost got all of the guests attention. Agnes doesn't want to be a center of attraction but since she's with a popular business man, it will surely burn other's stamina.

She's quite sure that Eve's inside now is bursting with anger. She just get the spotlight that was supposed to be hers. And Agnes felt like she just made a sin for getting the attention from her. She didn't like it anyways nor asked for it.

"How about a dance? May I?" He asked for her hand and she willingly accept it.

They danced in the middle of the ground. He was holding her waist while both of her hands were placed on his nape. After a few minutes, Jash and Eve joined the crowd and even chose to dance near them. She could feel the uncomfortable atmosphere that surrounds them.

JASH didn't take off his eyes on Agnes while she's dancing with Mr. Topaccan. Until now, he couldn't believe that she attended their event... the thing he feared the most. He's afraid that he might not get the chance to be near with her again when she founds out the reason of this event.

Or maybe she knew it already.

"Jash! If you won't stop staring at her, others might think that you're also into her. Do you want to ruin our image?!" Eve asked him in a monotone voice but he knew deep inside she's so angry.

He sighed and forced to look at her while they were dancing. To pretend that they were sweet to each other, Eve kept on talking to him about such thing and he kept on nodding to her. He seemed to be cold on her and it made Eve pissed.

When he look on to the other side, her parents were watching on them so he immediately looked away. He has to do anything to make her mood light up. S-She's pregnant.. now.

"You said you don't want to ruin our image? Smile now. I'll be with you tonight," Jash tried to say it in a cozy way.

He hates to say it but he needs to act like that. Her parents were watching and knowing them, they became more protective now that their daughter is carrying their grandchild. He's not happy with it at first but thinking that he's gonna be a father touches his heart.

"I don't believe you, Jash. You always piss me off. You don't love me," She pouted as her eyes started to pool.

He stopped dancing and so as her. He slowly wiped her tears away and caresses her cheeks. He's not aware what he was doing that time but all he wanted to do is to make her happy for tonight. Its a celebration as a welcome party for their baby. There's no denying because even him... he's excited to be a father.

The crowd shouted at them and laughed because of their sweetness. He just smiled at them while Eve fixed herself and hugged him. While hugging her back, his eyes drifted on Agnes who's looking at him but eventually looked away. Her reaction was unreadable so he couldn't find out if she's mad or... disappointed. He's sure she's not happy for him and Eve.

What they did to her in the past will remain as a scar in her heart. That's what he regretted the most.

"Tonight, we were going to tell you the truth behind this special event. My husband and I just find it out last day and we were so happy. Finally, we're gonna become real parents because I'm two weeks pregnant," Eve announced as tears escaped from her eyes, probably tears of joy.

Jash was on her side, caressing her back because she's getting emotional. She gave the microphone to him so he looked at her hesitatingly. Because the crowd was looking at them, he was forced to accept it and smiled. Eve was hugging him from behind while his other hand was holding her waist to support her weight.

"First of all, I'm so glad that you'd come here tonight to hear out the eager news." He gulped when he caught Agnes again in his eyes."I've always dreamed of being a father and now that it already happened, there's no way I'll run from this big responsibility. Cheers!"

He tried to give everyone a big smile and turned his gaze to Eve who's smiling widely at him. And when his eyes landed in front again, he tried to find her somewhere in the crowd. But he failed. She's nowhere to be found.

He wonder's where she is... or she already left the party.

"Where is Mr. Topaccan? I thought we're going to discuss about his decision in accepting our offer to merge in his company?" Eve asked her mother when they walked downstairs.

He remained silent because he's not even interesting at all. Who cares if he accepted it or not?

Her mother sighed in annoyance."He rushed out in your party when that Agnes walked out. She may be got hurt when you announced that you're pregnant, Eve."

Jash' throat went dry after hearing those. He's not sure of that but there's a part of him that was still... hoping.

But is there still a hope for the both of them? Now that he's going to start with a new family and she's also starting to open up with a new man.
