CHAPTER 13 | Like |
"Fishball?" Lian and I looked at Rose as she nodded. We're going to the parking lot but it looks like we're going to get caught in a fishballan. I like the idea of, Rose. Apart from being cheap, the fishball is also delicious.
"I'm game, I'm hungry." Si, Lian who even stroked his stomach. I raised an eyebrow at him and breastfed him.
"You're always hungry," I told him.
"Hee!" he growled at me. "Wait, I'll just throw it away," he said to the empty bottled water he was holding.
"Kuya!" Feeling close to congratulations, Lian to the fishball vendor we already know. "Cook more and you'll be free, Rose!" Smiling dog he said. To Rose's surprise, she was currently taking the purse from her bag.
"Am I free?" Manly eyes, he said.
"Of course you're the one who took care of it so you're the one who's free. That's okay, even if you buy Kuya's fishball cart, you won't suffer!"
"Buraot you now Lian!" singit ko. One of them glared at me.
"The non -buraot spoke!" He said that I was probably the one in question.
"Buraot is different from stingy!" I said.
"Oh gosh, you're embarrassing Kuya oh. Let's eat now, I'll treat you." Rose, who has a thin face with us.
"Yown oh!" fist up, Lian in delight.
"Ehem," I faked a cough and side glanced at Rose. "I didn't say free me, but you said you would be free so I won't refuse. It's bad to refuse grace!" I said grab a stick and a cup of fishball at the same time to eat. That's okay, Rose is rich. It's just a coin to him.
"Ehem, not raw buraot." Let Lian hear from me.
Tsh, I'm just stingy because I don't want to spend money that isn't mine!
"Argh, finally this is the best!" I stayed all night listening on Spotify to choose a song to sing at Music Fest. I was very picky about lyric, pitch, and tone so it took me a while to find something to sing. It's really good and I remember this song! The lyrics are nice and don’t hurt the nerve in the neck. Things like me have no singing talent.
The song is the best 'cause it suits me the best, especially the lyrics. I just really hope I don't get frustrated in front of so many people, that's embarrassing!
The whole week happened like usual, so did my Saturday. Earlier, our house was noisy so I knew that Kuya's friends were sleeping at home again. When I went down for breakfast earlier I was right, they were all complete.
What are they going to do now? I heard while eating earlier that they were going to practice for Music Fest. Almost all of Kuya Mike's friends are his batchmates, because all of his friends his age are graduates of Señior High.
"You thought she was beautiful, but her face looked like an ass." I trash talk while typing. I saw the dummy account of the buma-bash with Rose who commented on the profile picture of a famous actress. He said that the actor is ugly.
When I got tired of my cellphone, I stood up and brought the speaker. I decided to just start practicing singing. There were a lot of people in our living room so I went through the back door of the house to go to the mini garden. It's quiet here and I like the smell of the air better, I can concentrate more when it's like this.
Our plant is full of ornaments, Nanay Sita has been taking care of it since ... mommy left. Sometimes when I'm bored, I water the plants.
Our garden was a bit hidden because the boguinvillia were so high that it was made a barrier on each side of the patio to the garden. Even the old gate wall of ours is already clinging to the veins. But from here you can see the second floor of our spanish style house.
Our house is old, it was built in the 17's but due to repeated renovations it is still durable to this day. The house is big with two floors, on the outside it looks vintage but the materials are new. There are still many remnants of the old house, it can be seen in our vases inside and in the intricate patterns of brandy and woodcrafts.
I put down my cellphone and bluetooth speaker on the wooden bench I was sitting on. I listened to the song several times so I memorized the lyrics. There's just a part where I'm having a hard time so that's what I sing over and over again.
"~ Broken all the pieces I've been shaping lately. Focused on the things that didn't make no sense. ~" I started singing in a low voice, I wanted to record my voice and listen to the song but nah !! Nevermind!
I just kept singing and repeating, I don't know how many times I've been when I felt a presence behind me. When I looked, I was right in my suspicion that there was someone behind me, Jayda.
"What are you doing here?" I was shocked by the harvest. I stood up and faced him, I could see the shock on his face. The tone of my question was a bit bad.
"Ah, I-I passed by earlier and heard you singing so ..."
"So?" I barely raised an eyebrow at him.
"So ..." he said looking for something to say to the plants. "Do you need help?"
I was taken a back of what he said, help? For what? Then I remember that he's a singer. Maybe my voice isn't really good and he noticed something so he's here now. Am I really a horrible singer?
"To sing?" I asked the obvious. He nodded slowly at me.
I sighed, maybe I need help from the expert. "All right," I said.
He approached me so I sat on the bench again, he did the same. I had a speaker and a cellphone between the two of us.
"Beautiful Scar will you sing at Music Fest?" he asked me.
"Yes, the song is okay, isn't it?"
"You have a beautiful voice," I was slightly surprised by his answer. That's not my question.
"It's a joke," I winked at him.
"True, your voice is good. Ahm, just a little vocal excercise so you can reach the low notes."
"Vocal excercise? Is that even necessary?" I'm not a singer so I don't know.
"Yeah, that's important before you perform." I nodded at what he said.
"All right, I'll do vo-vocal excercise next time." After I said that, silence fell between the two of us. I felt a little awkward that's why I speak.
"What are you going to sing at Music Fest?" I asked him.
"Secret," he sparingly smiled at me.
"Secret? Psh," I scolded him.
“For the woman I like,” I was a bit shocked at her extra info. I adjusted my seat because I was curious about what he said.
"Who, Nerrisa?" I don't want to sound gossip but that's how I look.
Jayda's eyes widened at what I said. He looked surprised because I guessed who he wanted. But isn't Nerrisa his girlfriend?
He may think I'm nosy, I just stopped asking myself.
"Nerrisa?" his eyes became naughty so I couldn't read it. But it was obvious from his actions that I was very nervous about him, which meant I was right.
"Yes, I really like Nerrisa ..." he seemed to have something more to say but he didn't continue. I smiled at him.
"I don't have a thing for love, and I'm not playing cupid. Pero bagay kayo ni, Nerrisa." I said to him.
