CHAPTER 1

Damon

I stared out the window at the statue of my father. He had passed on a month ago after his visit to earth.

I warned him about that place but as the King of Hell that he was, he was always right. If he had survived, I would have told him 'i told you so.'

But now, he was dead and gone forever good. There was absolutely nothing I could do to reverse his death, only avenge it.

I had lost my mother to humans, now I had lost my father to those worthless creatures too. Unlike my father, I wasn't going to sit back and let them have the last laugh. I was going to make them pay for harming my father up to the point of death.

"The Demon Assembly has summoned you, Prince Damon." My servant said to me, interrupting my thoughts.

"I'll be there shortly." I responded coldly, dismissing him.

I wore my black robe before teleporting to the Assembly room.

"You lack respect, child. You walk in like a normal person into the room like your father did. It is a taboo to teleport in here." Klaus said angrily.

He's always had a problem with my behavior and so far, he had been the only one who ever really challenged me.

"There's a reason you summoned me, isn't there?" As usual, I ignored him and proceeded to my seat beside my father's throne.

I took a glance at the empty throne, my hands balling into fists as I remembered that my father would no longer ever sit on that throne.

"The warriors informed us about your plan to visit earth." The head of the assembly; Zachary stated. He was the most assertive of the thirteen members.

"And?" I knew they were going to try to stop me.

If only they knew they were merely wasting their time, they wouldn't bother trying.

"We have nothing to do with humans, Damon. If we did, we wouldn't be living in separate worlds. Your mother didn't make it back alive and neither did your father. It would be foolishness for you to make the same mistake your parents did even after you saw what had happened to them." He raised his voice a little this time when he spoke.

"What makes you think I would make the same mistake my parents did?" I rolled my eyes at him.

"You're going to the same place they died in. That's the mistake you're about to make, Damon." Klaus was the one who spoke this time.

Their words were infuriating but it was useless wasting my strength against them. I would rather preserve it for the chaos I was going to unleash on earth.

"You're wrong. The mistake they made was thinking humans were creatures to liase with. It wasn't until their death that they eventually realized humans were creatures who shouldn't even live." I responded.

"Unlike them, I'm not going to let myself get fooled. I'm not going to earth for any of the reasons that they went to earth, I'm going there to avenge their death. I have no business with the human world so I'm definitely not staying back at that cursed place. When I've made them pay for daring to kill the King of Hell, I'll be back home where I belong." I said, rising to my feet as I got ready to exit the room not caring if they were done or not.

"You're making a big mistake, Damon. There's no one else in your father's lineage to carry the title as King of Hell. If you die on earth, the title would be taken away from your family forever. Your father would be disappointed to know what you've done to his lineage." Zachary rose to his feet to address me in a bid to stop me from leaving,it didn't work anyway. I was already on my way out.

"I am disappointed he let himself die in the hands of those worthless creatures." I retorted.

"You're going to regret this, Damon." Klaus added, I would be surprised if he didn't.

I stopped at the door and turned my head to speak to them over my shoulder, "I'm the next King of Hell. You should mind the way you address me, I won't let this disrespect slide when I've been made King and I will be made King."

With that being said, I walked out of the room.

"Damon?" Penelope's high-pitched voice rang through the hallway, forcing me to stop on my tracks.

Gritting, I turned around to face her.

"I've been looking for you all over the palace. Where have you been? You know, this is nothing the time to keep to yourself or be by yourself." She ran to me, coming too close to where I stood.

Anger rose against my skin as I watched her but there was absolutely nothing I could do. The Kingship of Hell formerly belonged to herself family before it came down to my family so she was royalty just as much as I was. And with that, I couldn't act harshly to her like I badly wished I could.

"I'm not grieving, am I?" I rolled my eyes at her but she ignored it and only came closer.

"Look, I'm here for you, okay? You shouldn't be by yourself if you have me. I know what's like to lose a parent, I lost my father so I understand whatever it is that you might be going through. No one understands you like I do so let me....." She was getting too close, too familiar, daring to wrap her hands around my neck like we were some lovely couple.

"That's enough, I appreciate your care but I'm doing perfectly well as you can see. As a matter of fact, I'm preparing for war so if you don't mind." I took her hands off my neck, struggling not to push her away.

"I heard about your decision. Damon, don't you think....?"

"Enough, Penelope!" I yelled at her, startling her.

I hated that she thought her considerations and thoughts were welcomed and I needed her advice.

"I will do well on my own. Excuse me." I walked away briskly, before she started shedding tears.

Every servant in the palace avoided me and I couldn't be more grateful. I didn't want to have to vent my anger of the humans on any of my kind.

As I lay on my bed, I shut my eyes tightly, trying to get rid of the images of my parents that kept appearing in my head.

"Rest well mother, I won't make the same mistakes you and father made. I promise to wipe out the entire human race if that's what it takes to satisfy my vengeful thirst."
