CHAPTER 13

Damon

"And?" I asked her, sitting on her bed and crossing my legs. The way her nose flared up in anger showed that she obviously didn't approve of my action but I could only care less.

"She thinks I only made my decision to go to College because I thought it would make her happy." She answered, her shoulders dropping in disappointment.

I assumed 'College' here was the school we were supposed to go to.

"You didn't tell her the real reason you wanted to go there, did you?" I folded my hands under my chest, not taking my eyes off her for even a second.

"You already knew that, why ask then?" She got vexed and matched to the other side of the room.

"Listen Theia, I have no business whatsoever with your family but I must let you know that there are consequences of lying and what these consequences are. You don't have to be punished by law for telling a lie but you're definitely going to face certain consequences. When you tell a lie, you're eventually going to have to keep lying to cover up that lie and in turn, you'll tell more lies to cover up for those lies and then, you would let your life evolve around a circle of lies. And that, is almost impossible to get out of." She remained mute after my long speech and I waited for her to speak which she eventually did,

"I would live in a circle of lies if it took that to protect my mother. And like you said, my family is none of your business."

"And you ask that I help you find your father?" It wouldn't hurt to tease her a little.

"You said I could be of help to you, didn't you?" She raised her shoulders as if challenging me.

"We are using each other to get what we want. You just happened to know what I want whereas I still have no idea why you're roaming Brilfield. Moreover, I know you only didn't kill me because I have this time piece thing with me. I know you want it, don't act like you're indeed here to help." She rolled her eyes before moving over to the bed.

She wasn't wrong anyway. She was human, it would be reckless to leave something so sacred with her. Whatever had happened to her father only began to become a matter of concern to me when she had said that part of the time piece used to belong to him. Anything else couldn't and didn't bother me.

I was on earth to find my parents' killers and make them pay then return to my home after that. I never intended to get affiliated with anyone or anything, especially a human, more especially a human girl.

"What exactly did you see in school anyway?" She asked after a minute long silence.

"The thing from last night didn't come to me in its beast form." I started my explanation.

"What?" She furrowed her brows in confusion.

"It could imitate humans and act like them. I saw a human at school today and it didn't seem all human." She shuffled closer to me, attentively.

"It emitted this toxic scent that only I seemed to notice. It was all over the street and around the school too. I think it might be the same as what I fought last night." I wasn't so careless to tell her my observations about the two creatures.

For now, she didn't need to know that. She might never need to know that anyway as the only thing she wanted was her father.

"Do you remember what it looked like?" She asked.

"A Stout looking man, bald and clad in your weird human clothings of the color of white and grey. His eyes were grey too but not as grey as his pants. You might know him." From the outlook of his office, he seemed like an important person but the look on Theia's face gave me the feeling she might as well have no idea who he was.

"Your way of speaking is very odd." She remarked and then I understood why she had looked at me the way that she did.

"Our ways of speaking are different." I corrected and she simply waved it off.

"I do know him, as a matter of fact, I do know where he might be tonight." A small grin played on her lips.

"Tell me everything." I moved closer to her.
