Chapter 8: Monty

"She's stable. She should wake up now anytime of the day." The doctor assured Dylan and Hans.

After hearing those words, they were able to breathe calmly. She's safe.

The doctor left them. Hans was about to leave when Dylan interrupted his phase. He wants to go inside.

"Hans, can you wait for me outside?" Dylan requested.

The woman kept on bugging his senses, and neither is he aware of what they are. Dylan wants to know more about her. His instincts dictates that she's not just a nobody in his life.

"Sure, but do you know her?" Hans asked. He too is curious of why Dylan looks so attached to her.

"I don't know."

That's the only thing that he can say, how he wish that his identity is found and his memories aren't lost.

Hans just nodded, he continued his phase. Now, Dylan is left alone with a pursuant attitude. He can feel butterflies for some reason, but with might, he turned the knob of the door. Slowly, he stepped in.

The woman is now awake. But to her horror, she saw something beyond her expectations. Her jaw was left open, neither was she able to speak.

"Hi?" Dylan opened the conversation.

He still feels shy about what happened.

But slowly, he walked closer to her. The woman, on the other hand was left frozen, unable to react. Her eyes just traveled were Dylan is going. Until finally, she found the right words to respond to.

"Lan..." In a low voice, she uttered.

What she said made Dylan wrinkle his forehead. He has no idea of what she is talking about.

'Lan?' Dylan's curiosity started wandering again.

To ease his questions, he decided to start asking.

"Hmm? Lan? Who are you calling?"

Phyllis now recalled that he can't remember a thing. She just smiled.

"Oh nothing, don't mind what I said." She tried covering up.

Dylan nodded. But despite what she said, he can still sense a deeper truth. Detective blood runs through his veins. Like Reed, he knows when to suspect and not.

"We're sorry about earlier. Let us know if you need anything. Hans' number can be found at the lobby. Don't hesitate to call him."

Dylan wanted to give her his number, but he's not even sure if he do have one.

"Sure thing. By the way, I am Phyllis Drea Monty." She said whilst lending a hand out.

Dylan gladly took it, then he also introduced himself.

"Dylan, Dylan Bryst."

They shook their hands for a minute, and after that, they both decided to let go. Dylan knew that Hans is waiting for him outside so he decided to bid his goodbye.

"Sorry, but I have to go now."

"Sure, take care." She replied.

Dylan turned around to move away. He now knew her name but for him, it's not enough. Dylan wants to dig deeper, to him, she's an old mine which needs to be discovered for the second time.

Dylan continued walking, the parking lot is not far from her. He is still unable to grasp why does everyone keep on looking at him like he's a supermodel or so.

Earlier, they acted like that, and now, the same thing is happening.

But Dylan just wagged it off with a smile. Every girl nearly drooled because of it. He's an Adonis, an injured one.

Within a few seconds, he reached Hans' car. He went inside and he found the Hans who is eyeing him carefully, his eyes narrowed as he slowly analyzed Dylan.

"What's with the look?" Dylan cited the obvious.

"Nahh, just curious about what happened inside. What is her name by the way?"

Dylan mouthed the woman's name from his memory. It's still fresh, nearly unforgettable because of an unknown reason.

"Phyllis Drea Monty,"

Hans' eyes widened. If earlier he was in trouble, now, he is into a bigger one. Upon millions of people out there, what a twist of fate that a Monty was car struck by Hans Crisostomo.

Dylan noticed his expression.

"Anything up?"

Hans just shook his head to answer him.

"Nothing, don't mind me."

Hans doesn't want Dylan to know about anything regarding the Golden Monty. He must keep his mouth shut. Well, if that is he can.

Dylan still suspects unusual activity and secrets from Hans. He doesn't fully trust him. A guy who dragged you out of a hospital filled with assassins is not easy to trust actually. Dylan is unaware of what Hans really is. But for him, it is best if he doesn't know.

Wisdom kills...

"We need to go now, I've settled the bill, and Drea will be fine." Hans tried to divert Dylan's attention.

He knew that he can't think of Drea too much, he might figure out the secret behind the Golden Monty.

Hans positioned himself to drive, for the second time, he started the engine. Next stop, Langston's house, Dylan's old home.

The drive started and they were able to leave the hospital. Camelcone Village is not far from here. It might take a few minutes to get there. Dylan will now be able to see remnants of his past. Though he long lived in an isolated place, he still made a lot of memories there.

Actually, his isolation paved way to Aisling's safety. It was the reason why Aislimg was found after the abduction. Dylan became her savior. It should be Reed, but he was nearly too late. Maybe the damsel he found to be amused with, is not in distress after all.

It's starting to get dark, the sun and moon exchanged their spots. Leaving nothing but shadows and urge. Dylan stared at the window, reflecting on them.

"Life is like day and night, you'll find light, but soon it'll be replaced by darkness." He mouthed out of the blue.

Hans was amused with what he said. He is still philosophical like before. Old habits and personalities will always be remembered.

Dylan himself is actually the example of day and night. He is light but he can be the dark just to make someone shine.
