Chapter 6: Introduction to Doom

Aisling left with a heavy heart, feeling bad about her friend. Dylan, on the other hand wondered what is her real relation to his life. He knew that it's more than just friends, the way how his heart acted made it possible to conclude that they might be more than what he anticipated.

The hospital room is starting to make Dylan bored, for days all he had to do was stare at the empty ceiling as he think deeply. He has no memories to recall and neither can he make new ones with his condition.

His fractures are slightly healed. With adamant pursue of easing his own stress, Dylan tried standing up. He's still strong as ever. His legs first stood below the cold ground. It almost felt like it was his first time.

He didn't mind the injuries, finally, after fully leaving the bed, he stood up quickly. Dylan's lips carved a smile.

"I'm strong HAHAHAHA."

While laughing, the door suddenly opened. A man named Hans walked inside the room, Dylan's attention was quickly caught. He did not know his name nor his relation to him. All that Dylan could do is just knot his forehead.

Hans' face showed no emotion. His steps were agitated. Something is bothering him. Immediately, he reached for Dylan's left arm. His actions made it even more confusing to Dylan.

"What are you doing?" Dylan thinks it is time to know his identity.

"No time to explain, just come with me." Hans replied whilst dragging Dylan out of the room.

His grip was a bit painful, but he did not say a word. As they walk, Hans kept on looking left and right, carefully analyzing his surroundings. To Dylan, he thinks that this man is suspicious and not worthy to be trusted. He tried to struggle, making Hans loosen his grip.

"Don't move, just follow me." In a humorless voice, Hans requested.

Though still suspicious, Dylan just followed Hans.

After passing through a few rooms, a gunshot flew straight towards them. Dylan's instincts made him duck quickly. Hans took cover as well. They are left vulnerable outside the hallway. The both of them could not find a safer hiding place.

Several bullets came towards them. Dylan wondered why on earth they are experiencing this. He has no idea of why he is included in such a rampage.

"What is happening?" Finally, he found the right words to ask Hans.

"Victranred's ambush." His answer sounded like an intro in a movie, played with dramatic music.

Dylan could not grasp of who and what Victranred is. He cannot recall that word in his vocabulary, or probably because he cannot recall anything.

No dull moment was spent during the rain of bullets. Hans hurriedly prepared Dylan to duck securely. While the firing ceased, he took his gun and immediately went straight to defending the king. The hospital is now filled with sounds of gunshots.

From left and right, assassins were positioned to kill Dylan, but with Hans on his side, they could not harm him. Hans' aims were accurate, not a bullet missed his human target. From the left end of the hallway, a reckless man wearing a bonnet came in, shooting at them directly. But Hans kept his title as one of the best shooter. He shot him down.

"Let's go." Hans ordered as he pulled Dylan up.

Without further more words, he stood up to follow him. Actually, he finds this stranger cool. Despite the danger that he is facing, he is still able to smirk.

The left side was clear, Hans took that as a chance to escape this hospital. He started to sprint their safety. The firing didn't stop, Victranred is pursuant of ending Dylan's unknown reign.

Hans' steps were big, in an unexplainable way, Dylan was able to catch up with him despite his injuries. Now, with the way how his own body acted, he is aware that he might not be as ordinary as he think he is.

"Do you have another gun?" Dylan confidently asked Hans.

"Yes, I do." Immediately, he pulled his spare caliber 45 from his back.

While Dylan was gripping the gun to hold it properly, the surge of assassins started, now Hans started to feel tension. He knew that Dylan might not be able to help him.

But his hunch was wrong. After Dylan cocked the gun, he started firing. There was no doubt that he's a good shooter. All though he was not as good as Hans, he became a good help.

Dylan took the left side while Hans took the opposite one. They continued to move as they fight for their life. Their steps were nearly slow because of the careful measures that they need to take.

Dylan's injuries also hindered them, slowing them down for a bit. But he does not seem to be a burden. Instead, this forgetful king became a weapon.

They continued firing, until all the assassins who were left decided to flee and go back to their master. Hans was now able to breathe properly. The tension inside him was actually hidden, but he is nervous about Dylan.

He knew that he doesn't remember him, but yet, he still cares for Dylan just like before. Dylan's sweat piled up like rain. He did not feel such excitements unlike before.

Now, this is what he call action.

As Dylan recalled the moment when everything started to act like a movie, he decided to face Hans. They're nearly at the exit of the hospital, the escape dragged them here without even noticing the fast phase.

"Now answer me, who are you?" This is the question which was bugging him.

Hans looked at him directly into the eye, Reed oriented him before. He was told not to tell the whole story to Dylan. They agreed to keep his true identity as a secret until he recovers.

As seconds pass, Hans started to think of an excuse or a white lie.

'Please, let this work.' He pleaded inside his mind after formulating the right words.

"I'm one of your shareholders Mr. Bryst. The wide threat was seen, and I was sent here to protect you for the sake of the company." His excuse was only an allegory of what was happening.

He was indeed sent protect him for the sake of the underground society.
