"Dylan has amnesia." In a worrisome voice, Langston murmured.
It made Reed close his eyes, bowing his head down as the painful and tragic outcome starts to sink in. He felt unexplainable joy after hearing that Dylan woke up, but knowing that he forgot everything in his life makes it nearly worse than a gunshot by the neck.
"How did this happen?" Dylan asked.
He knew that no one can answer that, they're still in search for the culprit behind the accident. Now, the detective is hunting two criminals, Sly and the driver. It's too much to bear, his shoulders are toiled down and heavily loaded. But for those that he love, he's willing to seek for justice.
The tension made Langston sat down. He too is preoccupied by the happenings. He never imagined that this will happen. All through Dylan's reign, he never experienced such things. But they knew that this season is different than the past years, it's a new shed of end.
The provoked mafia leagues brought chaos. And now, the best peacekeeper could no longer keep the harmony. He's not himself.
"We can't tell Dylan about his true identity." Langston spoke out of the blue.
It made Reed look up, with eyebrows almost meeting each others root.
"Why Dad?"
Langston just sighed, it's hard but they need to keep this as a secret for now. The king can't know his reign.
"Dylan's injured, and we know his capability and drive, once he wants to do something he'll do it." He paused his answer.
Langston proposed his point. Stress and pressure can only hinder Dylan's recovery. He is a very pursuant king, once he knew that he is to be held responsible, he'll do what he can, even if it's beyond his limits.
"Also, he's in danger, we don't know if the suspect behind this crime is still out there. His condition makes him vulnerable." Langston added.
Reed's forehead wrinkled, he doesn't get his point.
"He'll be vulnerable dad if he doesn't know the truth. The king be frail." His statement contradicted what his dad spoke of.
Reed seems to cite a point, but Langston's mind is made up. Just this once, he wants to protect his son from the dangers of the underground society. He's not yet sure if when will he be able to tell him about the truth, but the time doesn't matter.
"No Reed, Dylan can't know. We need to let him recover first. The underground society needs its king, but for now, they'd have to wait. Their ruler is injured."
After all of that, Reed was able to pick up Langston's plan. They need to protect Dylan, and the Dylan who doesn't know the truth will make an easier deal. They can take him to an island or sent him abroad.
The heavy ambience continued to feed them, both sitting with problems, it made their head bow in frustration.
'Why did this happen?' That's the question which kept on bugging their minds. They never wanted to keep Dylan's identity as a secret towards him but they have no other choice. It's for his own good...
The solution to their problem is not yet near, but yet, another stygian doom of entity arose.
"Ma'am, you can't go inside." Liam's voice was heard even from the inside of the office.
Their little alone time was immediately interrupted. A woman outside seems to be forcing herself in. Pleading to at least be given a chance to borrow a minute or two from the famous mafia league rulers.
"I need to talk to them, I won't make a mess." Tyrie insisted.
Liam just scratched the back of his head in response, he could no longer hold her off. She's been here for 25 minutes, bugging him to let her in. Liam knows that both the father and son are experiencing problems. It's not good to add another burden, the whole league itself is doing its best to help them.
Finally, Reed decided to check what was the locomotion all about. He headed straight towards the door, and the moment he opened it, a woman carrying a baby is what he instantly saw.
"Your wife, Liam?" Reed's question was accompanied with a smile.
Liam just rolled his eyes as an answer. He doesn't know her actually.
"Maybe not." Reed added while softly chuckling.
His attention was dragged back to the woman.
"Can I help you with anything?"
She just nodded.
Reed's memory started working like an engine warming up for a long drive. Her face looks familiar to his sight, swore, he saw her before. He just couldn't remember where.
"Do I know you?" Finally, he decided to ask her.
"No, I need your help." In a very serious voice, she spoke.
It almost gave Reed goosebumps. The way how she talks makes him feel creeps all over his body. He's now certain, he saw her.
"Let's talk about it inside." It was now his turn to use his humorless voice.
Reed opened the door widely, letting Tyrie inside. He knew nothing of her agenda but he can sense tension in her presence and speaking. Inside his mind, he asked.
'What are you up to?'
Tyrie walked inside, Langston looked towards their direction. He immediately stood up upon seeing her. Mixture of worrying and stress filled his face. He didn't expect to see her here.
"Tyrie..." Slowly, he uttered.
His voice made Tyrie close her eyes. Her electric blue pupils no longer spark, and her creamy cheeks are now pale. She's sick and undergoing problems. All of them are, actually.
"Uncle, Harry died." Without even taking a seat, she started the conversation.
It was to their horror when they heard what she said. Reed's curiosity ignited. If he's right, then this woman beside him is part of their family.
'That's why she looks familiar.' He concluded inside his mind.
All their eyes were placed on her, they can see sadness and pain in her face. They felt the same feeling, so perhaps they won't find it hard to relate with her. Reed and Langston felt the same tragic strike after Valoria died.
But the question still remains, why is Langston's niece here?
