Chapter 7: Living a Lie

"I'm a CEO?" Dylan asked with amusement.

Hans was unable to answer him very quickly, he is worried that the assassins could still be around them. He kept on looking left and right.

"Yes, yes." Hans just assured him.

Finally, after catching their breaths, Hans continued to drag Dylan. They went out of the hospital, heading straight to Hans' car. The both of them immediately got in, no word was said. Hans quickly started the engine, driving quickly as possible. He was nearly exceeding the speed limit.

The fewer minutes inside the car was settled under silence. It made Dylan think deeper. He started to wonder of what his past life really like, after hearing that he is a CEO, Dylan assumed that he is rich.

He didn't bother Hans, he felt his tension while driving. The king is still sensible.

From the back seat, Dylan started speaking inside his mind.

'If I'm here, then who is managing the company?' His forehead immediately knotted.

Hans knew that Dylan might take it too seriously, that is why he has a back-up plan. Langston Corporation is managed by Langston Bryst himself, now, the plan that Hans had in mind is to let Dylan take over.

There is no harm in his plan.

"Dylan, let me formally introduce myself. I am Hans Crisostomo, one of the major shareholders of the Corporation." He said while driving.

Hans didn't bother to remove his eyes from the road. Dylan just nodded as a form of answer.

The ride continued, Hans' mind was made up. He will let Reed take over the king's crown temporarily until Dylan's memories return. He knew the consequences of his amnesia. It's too dangerous to let a king with no remnant of experiences reign.

Their stop off point is Langston's house. It was cleaned after the encounter with the Dreadful Hunters. Many were wounded, but Bluemierre was able to recover as swift as possible.

The distance was just short. They were nearly at their destination when suddenly...

A girl recklessly crossed the street. Hans wasn't able to hit the brakes. The impact was strong and it made the girl depart for a few meters away. The both of them can sense trouble. Dylan is not yet fully healed, yet another accident occurred. Their life is indeed filled with surprises.

Hans immediately took his step out of the car, rushing towards the direction of the girl who was lying unconscious on the cold cement street. He knelt down to reach her, he can still see that she is breathing.

For a second there, it gave him the sense of relief. As he stared deeper to assess her, Hans realized that she's not really a girl. She's a woman, a grown and beautiful woman.

Dylan went out to check on her as well, and after he saw her, Dylan felt the same spark that he felt with Aisling. Everything was in slow motion, this is his first time seeing such a beautiful lady.

"Let's take her to a hospital." Dylan's command was filled with disposition.

Hans quickly stood up to carry her, rushing towards the car. It's another race. Dylan opened the back seat, helping Hans out. The lady was settled inside in just a minute. They were such in a hurry.

Dylan might seem opportunistic but he has not other choice but to sit next to the unconscious woman. He placed her head on his lap. Carefully eyeing her condition.

Hans didn't waste any minute, he drove quickly to the nearest hospital. His heart was racing, this woman can't die. After the assassin encounter, now, another accident occurred. This is beyond what he can handle! The pressure nearly makes his head crack like a glass.

"Are we there yet?" Dylan asked while sweating like bullets.

For an unknown reason, he feels attached to this woman. He couldn't recall his connection with her for he lost all of his memories, but a huge part of him explains their relation.

"Nearly Dylan, how's her vital signs?"

"Her pulse is okay, but she's bruised and bleeding. We need to hurry."

That was Hans' cue, he quickly stepped on the gas. The speed increased, they were almost as fast as a sports car racer. All of them are feeling the same tension. Hans himself is to be held accountable for this crime.

At last, they've reached the hospital. Hans quickly went out, calling in a nurse near the entrance of the hospital.

"Nurse! We have an emergency!"

No further words were needed for them to be moved. A stretcher immediately followed Hans as he led the way towards the car's back seat. Dylan felt eased after seeing her being assisted. The woman remained unconscious.

The nurses took her and immediately dragged her into the hospital.

Dylan does not feel the contentment in just seeing her go inside, he decided to follow her. He's still walking like a man with a broken leg. Nearly dragging his left leg to move forward.

Hans wasn't able to walk beside him, he went inside first. He finds himself responsible for the happenings.

After entering the hospital, Dylan's walk started to be become intriguing for others. Everyone's eyes were piercing through him. Almost every woman inside couldn't help but to stare at him. There was no doubt that he is indeed a man of good looks.

The ER was not far from the main entrance, Dylan was able to reach it. Outside the door, he saw Hans peeking inside the glass window of the door.

"Is she gonna be alright?" Dylan asked in a worrisome voice.

His worrying is still from an unknown cause. Neither is he aware of why he is acting like this. But Dylan believes that maybe this is just a product of attraction since she was a woman of perfection in terms of looks.

"Maybe, I'm hoping that she will. She can't die. I already have too many problems. I can't handle all of them at the same time." Hans replied.

The both of the could not deny the nervousness that they are feeling, but will this day end with a good news? Or will it just pass with all the bad memories?
