Chapter 11 Willing to do

Mulherd Manor perched atop a hill, granting a sweeping view of the nearby mountains from Alina's room. The winding road encircled the majestic peak, adding to the picturesque setting. This was the place where Grandma and Mom resided in the past, and where Alina had spent her formative years.

A gentle knock interrupted Alina's thoughts, prompting her to open the door. Standing before her, Andre appeared in a white robe, his wet hair in need of drying. "I'm heading downtown. Care to join me for a drink?" he asked.

Alina politely declined, knowing that Andre relished the vibrant nightlife, while she felt out of place in such settings. She was aware of his perception of her as a dull aristocratic lady. As soon as Andre heard her refusal, he promptly departed.

Alina smiled, realizing she was now the sole occupant of the spacious second floor. As midnight approached, the incessant vibrations of her phone disrupted the darkness. Irritated by the noise, she contemplated returning to her slumber under the covers. However, the persistent vibrations compelled her to reach out and answer the call, saying, "Hello."

"I'm at the doorstep," a captivating masculine voice resonated from the other end. Alina's drowsiness instantly dissipated upon hearing the voice.

Startled, she sat up in bed. "Which doorstep?" she inquired, a tinge of panic creeping into her voice.

"Mulherd Manor," the man replied.

Alina felt a sudden rush of apprehension. "What are you doing? It's the middle of the night!"

The anger in her voice didn't escape the man on the other end, but Caleb calmly asked, "Are you coming out, or shall I come in?"

"You're insane," she retorted, vivid memories of the distorted impression Caleb had left on her three years ago resurfacing. In her eyes, people like Caleb were capable of anything, including disturbing visits in the dead of night.

Putting on her jacket, she stepped outside to find Caleb leaning against a car, cigarette in hand. The streetlight cast an ethereal glow upon his elegant figure, evoking a sense of solitude.

Alina observed him with a troubled heart, taking a step forward. Her tone, not entirely cordial, betrayed her concern. "What are you doing out so late?"

Caleb flicked the cigarette butt onto the ground and handed Alina the phone. Confused, she asked, "What's this?"

"See for yourself," he replied tersely.

"Are you seriously showing up at my doorstep with just a phone?" Alina questioned, her displeasure evident.

Reluctantly, she took the phone and her expression changed as she saw the person in the video—Andre.

"Is this the man you've been with for the past three years?" Caleb's voice turned icy, laced with a hint of scorn directed not only at Andre but also at Alina herself.

The photo displayed on the phone depicted Andre in a nightclub, surrounded by a row of people, both men and women. The scene appeared extravagantly chaotic, and Alina understood the underlying sarcasm in Caleb's message. Handing the phone back to him, she remarked, "He's not nearly as terrible as you make him out to be."

Alina believed that Andre had grown and improved significantly since the incident three years ago. Caleb's expression darkened, but before he could respond, Alina continued, "Even though he may be with multiple women, they are willing participants. Can the same be said about you?"

Recalling the spine-chilling memories of Caleb's past actions, even while she slept, a wave of anger surged within Alina. She wanted nothing more than to exact revenge on this man. Caleb's face sank as he gazed at Alina, choosing not to respond to her words. Instead, he turned around and retrieved a document from the car.

As Alina examined the document handed to her, her brows furrowed once again. "What is this now?" she asked, refusing to take it from his hand.

"I know what kind of person Andre truly is. There's no need for you to investigate," she added, surprised that Caleb could present evidence of Andre's activities that evening.

Caleb forcefully thrust the document into Alina's hand, his voice husky and burdened. "It's the divorce agreement between you and him. Sign it."
