Chapter 15: What a Heartless Man!

Neve said softly on the other end of the phone, "I'll make you some coffee and bring it over, or do you want me to make it in front of you?"

Zane pushed open the bedroom door, glancing at the neatly made bed, and frowned, "It depends on you."

After saying that, Zane hung up the phone.

Yanis was always neat. Every time after they were intimate, she would carefully tidy up the bed before returning to her own bedroom. Only on rare occasions when she stayed overnight in this room would she change the bedding and his clothes, leaving a faint scent that reminded him of her.

Walking over to the bed, Zane lay down and soon caught that faint scent in the air. It eased his mood a bit, making him feel a sense of comfort.

After lying down for a while, Zane got up and walked to the closet. As he was about to open the closet, he hesitated and opened another cabinet instead.

Inside were all the latest clothes he bought for Yanis each season.

But Zane never saw Yanis wear them. At most, she would put one on if he insisted, but then she would return it clean and put it back where it was.

Looking at the untouched clothes, Zane furrowed his brow and closed the cabinet with a sigh. He turned around, picked his clothes, and headed into the bathroom.

Meanwhile, Bonnie, Yanis, and Ivan were at Deep in Dream, a popular bar in Manches City.

Bonnie muted Yanis' phone and put it in her handbag.

She then looked up at Ivan, who was smoking, and asked, "What's the plan?"

Ivan smiled and glanced at her. "What do you mean?"

Bonnie moved closer to him and patted his shoulder, "I guess you're back because Yanis and Zane got divorced."

Hearing Bonnie's words, Ivan raised an eyebrow, took a puff of his cigarette, and put it out in the ashtray, "Yes, but let's keep it a secret for now."

Bonnie leaned in even closer. "If you want to pursue Yanis, count me as your ally!"

Ivan chuckled. "I never had your support back then."

Bonnie blushed slightly and explained, "I was young and couldn't see who was really good for Yanis."

When Yanis told them she was marrying Zane, Ivan privately confided in Bonnie. Under the influence of alcohol, he repeatedly asked her, "Why did Yanis choose Zane over me?"

The Baxter family was on par with the Lawrence family, and Ivan couldn't fathom why Yanis preferred Zane over him. Even if he didn't compare favorably to Zane, Yanis had chosen to marry him.

"I have more clarity now."

Bonnie took a sip of her wine and spoke softly, "Ivan, I was so supportive of Yanis because I thought Zane would be touched and eventually fall in love with her. But I was naive."

"He wasn't touched at all. What a heartless man!"

Ivan frowned and looked over at Yanis, who was approaching them. "Why does Yanis like such a man?"

Bonnie sighed, "Who knows."

As Yanis sat down, Bonnie handed her a glass of wine. "Did you break up with Zane as well?"

Bonnie pouted. "I'm single. I won't date anyone."

Yanis chuckled and picked up the glass. "Then why are you drinking so much?"

Bonnie draped her arm over Ivan's shoulder. "I haven't seen Mr. Baxter in a long time, so we're reminiscing and toasting to our friendship."

Ivan removed Bonnie's arm from his shoulder. "Do you know why not many people go after you?"

Bonnie laughed and moved closer to Ivan. "That's because I love nobody but you."

"Don't tease me. I might get scared."

Bonnie playfully rolled her eyes at Ivan. "Such a coward! Shame on you!"

After that, she mouthed to Ivan, "You're too hesitant in pursuing Yanis. You're just daydreaming!"

Ivan was at a loss for words.

Bonnie turned her attention back to Yanis. "Zane's minion just called you."

"Albi?"

Bonnie nodded and said, "He asked you to go to D-king Castle, but I told him you were busy and refused."

Yanis remained silent after listening.

"Let's forget about that and just toast to Ivan's return."

Bonnie handed Yanis a glass of wine and refilled Ivan's glass. "Cheers!"

Bonnie knew Yanis had a low alcohol tolerance, so she rarely asked her to drink. However, tonight was an exception.

"Just take a small sip, Yanis."

Bonnie nodded and added, "Yes, Ivan is right. You don't have to drink too much."

"Why?"

Bonnie smiled, "We haven't seen Ivan in a long time, so we should keep sober and chat with him. If you get drunk, we'll have no one to talk to."

Yanis suggested, "Then you two can talk to each other."

Hearing this, Bonnie and Ivan replied in unison,

"I have nothing to talk to her about."

"I have nothing to talk to him about."

Yanis was at a loss for words.

"In that case, I'll pass on the wine." With that, Yanis placed her glass on the table.

Bonnie and Ivan didn't say anything.

They went on to chat about the past and Ivan's experiences abroad. They also talked about Bonnie, but no one mentioned anything about Yanis.

Yanis unconsciously drank most of the wine.

Flushed, Yanis was able to stay awake because the alcohol content was lower than that of the wine at the Lawrence Mansion.

Although not drunk, Yanis was noticeably different. She leaned on Bonnie with blank eyes.

Bonnie looked at her and asked softly, "Are you okay, Yanis?"

Yanis replied slowly, "I want to sleep."

Bonnie sighed and turned to Ivan. "Let's call it a night. I'll take Yanis home, or she might get out of control later."

Ivan glanced at Yanis, who was leaning on Bonnie, and said, "I'll give you both a ride."

Bonnie looked at Ivan and narrowed her eyes. "What are you up to?"
