Chapter 14: Zane Is in No Position to Do That

As soon as Travis disappeared from Zane's sight, he turned his attention outside.

Albi had parked the car at the entrance.

Upon seeing Zane, Albi promptly stepped out of the car and opened the door for him. "Good night, Mr. Lawrence."

Zane bent over and got into the car.

Albi then closed the door and went around to take the driver's seat.

Before Albi could start the engine, Zane asked in a cold tone, "Who told you to bring the papers to Yanis?"

Albi froze upon hearing Zane's question, feeling a bit cautious. "In the morning, you instructed me to take some time today to give the papers to her."

"And you're so obedient!" Zane interjected coldly before Albi could finish.

Albi met Zane's gaze, feeling scared.

Zane's cold stare sent a shiver down his spine.

After what seemed like an eternity, Zane inquired again, "Where are the papers?"

Albi quickly retrieved the signed papers and handed them to Zane.

"Here they are, Mr. Lawrence."

Zane took them, glanced at Yanis' signature, and frowned.

As Albi was about to say something, Zane ripped the papers in two and tossed them aside. "Go back to D-king Castle."

Albi looked at the torn papers, swallowed nervously, and answered in a low voice, "Yes, sir."

The car started, and Albi held the steering wheel with care, fearful of triggering Zane's anger.

"Was she with Ivan?"

Zane's voice echoed coldly in the car.

Albi quickly replied, "Yes."

Then Albi cautiously glanced at Zane through the rearview mirror, sitting in the back seat, and hesitated to admit that it was Neve who took the divorce papers to Yanis.

But recalling Zane's words and actions, Albi felt even more apprehensive.

Zane had been gentle and considerate towards Neve in the past, even visiting her several times while she was receiving treatment abroad.

However, Zane never explicitly stated that he would marry Neve after divorcing Yanis.

Neve, on the other hand, always believed that Zane would eventually marry her.

Now, Zane's current attitude was confusing Albi.

Zane himself had said that he would divorce Yanis as soon as Neve returned.

Zane had prepared the divorce papers and signed them himself.

Zane had even pressured Albi to get Yanis to sign them.

Yet, after Yanis signed, Zane tore the papers apart.

As a result, Albi was now perplexed and couldn't make sense of Zane's intentions.

Zane suddenly said, "Call her and ask her to return to D-king Castle. I need to talk to her!"

Albi immediately knew whom Zane was referring to.

With one hand on the steering wheel, Albi dialed Yanis' number with the other.

When the call was answered, he quickly conveyed Zane's request.

"Mrs. Lawrence, Mr. Lawrence wants to talk to you at D-king Castle. Can you come back right now?"

But the response from the other end was filled with anger. "Don’t call me that! You've got the wrong number!"

The person who answered the phone was not Yanis but Bonnie.

Albi quickly checked the number and confirmed that it was Yanis' number. He then asked tentatively, "Is that Miss Cooke?"

Bonnie grunted and said in a deep voice, "Albi, tell Zane that Yanis has nothing to do with him from today on. And tell him to stop summoning Yanis like a servant. He is not in a position to do that anymore!"

"Besides, Yanis will never return to D-king Castle. He can have fun with his first love all he wants in there!"

With that, Bonnie hung up the phone.

Albi was left speechless, holding the phone.

"What did she say?" Zane asked.

Albi pursed his lips and replied, "It was Miss Cooke who answered the phone."

Zane frowned, "What did she say?"

Waiting at a red light, Albi glanced at Zane in the rearview mirror and recounted what Bonnie had just said.

Hearing this, Zane didn't say anything until the car arrived at D-king Castle.

Zane got out of the car and looked at Albi, instructing in a deep voice, "Find out where she is now, and pick her up yourself."

Albi froze for a moment, then bowed slightly and replied, "Yes, sir."

Zane walked towards the house. As he reached the steps, he paused and turned to look at Albi, who was still standing by the car. "Get two people over here. There's a broken bed in the house, so have them remove it and throw it away!"

"Right now?"

"Yes!"

Albi nodded, pulling out his phone to make the arrangements.

Zane pushed the door open. Usually, the smell of Yanis' delicious cooking filled the kitchen, but today, there were no slippers at the entrance, and the living room was not as tidy as before. The aroma of food was absent.

Zane stood in the foyer and peered into the kitchen but found no one.

An odd feeling washed over him, furrowing his brow.

He took off his tie and fetched a pair of slippers from the shoe closet. After changing his shoes, he entered the living room.

The empty living room inexplicably dampened Zane's mood, but he couldn't pinpoint the reason.

His phone rang abruptly.

Zane took off his jacket and tossed it onto the sofa while answering the call and ascending the stairs.

"What's going on?"

"Zane, are you at home now?" Neve's gentle voice came from the other end.

Zane replied, "Yes, I just got home."

"You've had too much to drink tonight. You should ask Albi to make you some coffee to sober up."

Zane inquired, "What do you want?"

"Nothing. I was just worried that you might not feel well due to the alcohol."

Zane rubbed his forehead. "I'm fine, so don't worry."

"Zane, can I come over to see you?"

Zane wanted to refuse, but considering Albi's words, he hesitated and casually replied, "Alright."
