Chapter 2: Cheating

"So, darling, do you prefer me or Amaya?" The woman in the bedroom asked in a sweet voice.

"Don't mention her, I only love you, my fairy," he replied.

Just as the two were about to reach their climax, Amaya regained her composure.

She walked in with a basin of cold water and poured it directly on their intertwined bodies, causing them to spring apart on the bed.

"Ah!" the woman screamed.

The man on the bed finally reacted and saw Amaya standing in front of the bed, instantly feeling powerless.

Amaya looked at her best friend and her boyfriend entangled naked on the bed, feeling a bit disgusted but forcing herself to stay calm and clean up this mess.

She stood by the side with a smile on her face, applauding the scene.

"Thank you, my dear best friend and my boyfriend, for giving me such a lively and excellent reality show."

"Amaya, things are not what you think. I can explain," Aubree Randolph pulled the blanket over herself, looking helpless and wanting to explain, biting her lip with an inexplicable pitiful look.

"Explain? What do you have to explain? Are you trying to justify yourself after being the other woman?" Amaya never expected that the reason for her breakup with Adam was because of her best friend.

"Amaya, watch your words. Don't go too far!" Adam was not pleased when he heard the term "other woman."

"Why? I've been cheated on and I can't say anything?"

"Amaya, I'm a normal man, I have physical needs too! We've been together for two years and you never let me touch you. You never stayed overnight with me. At most, we held hands and kissed. No normal man can bear that!"

Adam put on his bathrobe and looked at Amaya. As a normal man, he had normal physical needs. Besides, who doesn't have a few women around him when he's a successful man? He calmly tried to explain to her.

"So this is the excuse you came up with for cheating? With my so-called best friend? Adam, how amazing you are," Amaya said with a smile, spreading her hands.

"Amaya, I give you a choice. If you agree to let me take you and promise to marry me next year, we can still be like before."

She looked at Adam in silence. It turned out that shameless people existed in this world.

He once again refreshed her understanding of shamelessness.

Adam started to panic. For marriage, Amaya was clearly more suitable. She graduated from a prestigious medical school and was a well-trained attending physician at the hospital. She had high education and a decent job. He needed a wife like her. Aubree was just a small-time model. It was fine to have fun with her, but she wasn't suitable to be his wife.

"I can give you a worry-free future. I will also cover all your mother's medical expenses." He increased his bargaining chip.

Adam looked confident and satisfied, as if he was sure that Amaya would give him the answer he wanted. After all, in his eyes, he was outstanding and what Amaya lacked the most was money, which he perfectly solved.

Aubree's face turned pale when she heard this, tightly gripping the corner of the blanket.

Amaya's brow loosened slightly as she curiously asked, "Are you saying that I should marry you, the cheating man?"

"Don't speak so harshly. A successful man like me will definitely have one or two confidantes. You should learn to turn a blind eye," he said.

"Of course, I will be more restrained after we get married."

"What if I don't want to?"

"You won't, your mother needs medical expenses." Adam was very certain.

But Amaya laughed, "Adam, even if I sell myself to raise money for my mother's medical expenses, I won't sell myself to trash like you!"

"Aubree, did you see that? This is the trash man you wanted to steal."

She didn't care at all and even showed a disdainful attitude towards Adam, infuriating him.

"Amaya, don’t be so conceited! Even without my family's support, I'm worth millions. What kind of woman can't I find? It's your good fortune that I chose you!"

"Well then, thank you. You can still choose me, but unfortunately, I’ll dump you. Just consider our two years together as a total waste of my time."

"By the way, whatever about you has nothing to do with me in the future."

After saying that, she left gracefully, leaving behind an angry Adam and a pale-faced Aubree.

At one o'clock in the morning, Amaya returned to the staff dormitory of the hospital. After taking a shower and coming out, she threw herself heavily onto the bed.

She had been hungry all day but had no appetite at all.

The medical expenses amounted to 800,000 dollars. Over the years, she had saved up a total of 200,000 dollars from scholarships and work in recent years.

She still had 600,000 dollars left to raise. Despite being physically and mentally exhausted, she couldn't sleep at all.

She picked up her coat and walked out of the staff dormitory. The biting cold wind blew by, making her sneeze uncontrollably. She wrapped her coat tightly around her body and hurriedly bought a hot drink. This winter was exceptionally torturous.

The next day she woke up early to do rounds at the hospital. As soon as she reached the door of the VIP ward, she heard Old Mrs. Hancock scolding someone inside.

"Jaylan, you rascal! I gave you until the end of the year to find a girlfriend and get married! If you're still single by the end of the year, don't blame me for resorting to any tricks! Humph!"

"Grandma, you're being unreasonable," came a helpless male voice.

"How am I being unreasonable? If you can't find a girlfriend on your own, then I'll arrange one for you myself. My friends' granddaughters are all available."

Old Mrs. Hancock got angry as soon as she saw her grandsons. They were all in their thirties and still single. Other families would have had great-grandchildren at her age, but she didn’t even have a granddaughter-in-law yet.

"I'll handle it myself."

"I don't care. The deadline is the end of the year. You still have three months left."

"Grandma, I'm here for rounds," Amaya timely interrupted their conversation.

"Amaya, come in quickly." Old Mrs. Hancock heard Amaya's voice and waved at her with a smile. She liked this girl - smart, kind-hearted, skilled in medicine, and able to make people happy. Much better than those brats in her family.

"Grandma, you have an examination later. If everything is fine with the results, you can be discharged and go home." It was a routine check-up and also an opportunity to inform the old lady that she could be discharged.

"Alright, later I'll have this rascal accompany me. Thank you for your trouble, Amaya," Old Mrs. Hancock couldn't help but smile when she heard she could be discharged. She had been in the hospital for over half a month and was truly bored. She missed her flowers and plants at home.

Amaya looked at the relaxed man sitting on the sofa. She knew him - Jaylan Hancock, the second son of the Hancock family and the person in charge of Hancock Group. He appeared in various financial magazines and his net worth was immeasurable at such a young age.
