Chapter 10: Obedient

"Um, Jaylan, you..." Amaya tried to stop him, maintaining a shred of rationality.

He had promised her half a month to prepare, but it had only been two days...

"Be good," his hoarse and restrained voice whispered in her ear.

"You were the one who seduced me tonight." He kissed her deeply, their breaths entwined, making the moment even more passionate.

"I... I didn't."

His kiss was domineering, and Amaya's face was flushed red. The unfamiliar sensations in her body made her uneasy, and she instinctively wanted to escape. "Jaylan."

"I'm here, don't be afraid," his voice softened unconsciously, coaxing her as he held her tightly, showering her with kisses on her lips, collarbone, and neck.

The moonlight outside was like water, and the room was filled with an intimate atmosphere.

Amaya didn't know how much time had passed. She only remembered the faint light outside the window and her quiet sobs as she begged Jaylan to let her go. He finally relented and carried her to the bathroom for a bath.

When Amaya woke up again, it was already noon. She tried to move but found her waist held by a large hand, and her whole body ached as if it had been disassembled. She lay back down in pain.

Thinking about the previous night's ordeal, she couldn't help but mutter softly, "Beast."

This man's stamina was incredible!

A lazy voice came from above her head, "Sleep a little longer."

Jaylan was never one to indulge in excess, but he had kept her up until morning, not wanting to leave her for even a second. If she hadn't cried and begged, he wouldn't have let her go so soon.

Amaya couldn't fall back asleep. Fortunately, it was a day off; otherwise, she wouldn't be able to go to work in this state.

She turned over and lay on Jaylan's chest, looking at his handsome face up close. He was annoyingly good-looking.

"Can we not invite the Moreno family to our wedding? Can my mother be the only one from my side?" Knowing he was awake, she spoke in a tone meant to please him, rubbing against his chest.

His breathing seemed to stop for a moment but he kept his eyes closed.

Since she had been taken advantage of, she might as well use this opportunity to persuade him. She didn't want the Moreno family to attend; she had long severed ties with them.

"And can we keep the wedding private? I don’t want to cause a sensation, or it’s hard for me to work at the hospital." She knew this request was a bit much. Being Mrs. Hancock without going public seemed too pretentious. But she also knew Jaylan's popularity; if everyone knew she was Mrs. Hancock, she wouldn't be able to stay at the hospital.

But for a long time, he said nothing.

Amaya couldn't hold back any longer. "Say something."

Would it kill him to give a clear answer?

Jaylan opened his eyes, pulling her closer until their faces were inches apart, their breaths mingling.

In a lazy and casual tone, with a hint of amusement, he said, "Mrs. Hancock, are you trying to seduce me?"

His gaze swept over the view of her lying on him.

Amaya blushed furiously, unsure of what to do. After a few seconds of hesitation, she kissed him clumsily and awkwardly.

The man who had been indifferent tightened his grip on her waist, flipped them over so he was on top, and dominated the kiss. Amaya had no chance to escape; she could feel him slowly waking up again, her face turning redder with no idea how to resist.

After a long while, Jaylan finally let her go. Considering how much he had worn her out last night, he didn't go further.

"Don't seduce me if you're not fully recovered; you'll only get hurt." He bit her chin lightly, satisfied only when he heard her muffled groan.

"And about what I just said..." Amaya pressed on; she couldn't let her efforts go to waste.

Jaylan got up and walked to the bathroom without responding.

Half an hour later, he stood in front of the mirror in the room, skillfully tying his tie.

Seeing that he was about to leave, Amaya anxiously thought about how to bring up the topic again; he hadn't answered her yet.

No matter how she hinted or spoke directly, he acted as if he hadn't heard a thing.

"Hey, um..." Jaylan's hand was on the doorknob when Amaya hurriedly called out.

He paused and replied before leaving. "You are Mrs. Hancock; make your own decisions."

Hearing this, Amaya was so happy she could have done somersaults on the bed if not for her physical discomfort.

An hour later, Jaylan's assistant Talan Dalton and driver arrived at the villa entrance on time.

Today, the boss was acting strangely. In Talan's memory, his boss was a terrifyingly disciplined person who left for work punctually every day without being late by even a second. Let alone leaving at noon; this had never happened in the eight years he'd worked for him.

Curious about what had caused this change in his boss, Talan didn't dare ask despite his curiosity.

Amaya stood in front of the large bathroom mirror, looking at the bruises all over her body and her exhausted face as if she'd stayed up for a week straight. She couldn't help but wail. From her neck down to her toes were covered in marks.

In contrast, Jaylan had looked energetic and satisfied earlier, which made her angry.

"Unrestrained beast!" Amaya cursed fiercely.

Only now did she truly realize that Jaylan had begun to infiltrate her life.

Looking at herself in the mirror, Amaya suddenly remembered how Jaylan had stopped at the critical moment last night to use protection.

A man who could restrain himself in such a situation either resisted the arrival of new life or wasn't satisfied with his wife; he didn't want Amaya to be the mother of his child.

It made sense; theirs was a contractual marriage without love. A child growing up in an unloving family wouldn't be happy either.

She didn't want her child to experience a life like hers. It would be better not to have one at all because having one means taking responsibility.

Besides, she wasn't planning on having children now. Her job was too busy, and her mother's health hadn't fully recovered. She didn't have the extra energy to care for a child.

After a long time lost in thought, she snapped out of it and patted her face, trying to wake herself up.
