Chapter 14: Return All the Blood in Me to You

"What do you mean by hitting my wife as soon as you arrive, Mr. Moreno?" Jaylan asked coldly, his face dark with anger.

Kyson saw Jaylan protecting her and slowly lowered his hand, his face sullen as he looked at Amaya. "Amaya, you ungrateful wretch. Have you forgotten your surname?"

Amaya slowly raised her eyes to look at him, her gaze icy. "I haven't forgotten my surname is Moreno, but if I had a choice, I would never be a Moreno!"

Even though her surname was Moreno, it was from her grandfather, not from Kyson.

She had once loved and respected him as her father, but he had destroyed all of that.

When he brought that woman and her daughter home, and she and her mother were kicked out, and when she begged him for surgery fees, their remaining father-daughter bond was severed.

Kyson's face grew even darker after hearing her words, his anger rising. He wanted to teach this ungrateful daughter a lesson.

But seeing Jaylan standing beside her and thinking about how she had now climbed the Hancock family tree, he suppressed his anger. "In the past, there were some misunderstandings between me and your mother, but that was then. No matter what, I am your father, and you are a descendant of the Moreno family. Even if I did something wrong back then, I came to your wedding today. Let's call it even."

Amaya let out a sarcastic laugh.

Kyson's shamelessness made her so angry and upset that she couldn't stop trembling.

She could only stay upright by leaning on Jaylan.

Madilyn fanned the flames from the side, pretending to mediate. "My dear sis, stop talking. If you keep saying such things, you'll hurt Daddy's feelings."

Seeing the lavish wedding and Jaylan standing next to Amaya made Madilyn insanely jealous. Why should Amaya have all these things? She was the real eldest daughter; only she deserved them!

"Madilyn, shut up! Stop yapping!" Amaya cut her off without giving her any face.

Kyson was also infuriated by Amaya. "You are rebelling! Not only do you talk back to your father but also to your elder sister. You ungrateful wretch!"

"You didn't tell me about your wedding, and now you dare to talk back when I scold you? Have you forgotten that I gave birth to you? Half of the blood in your veins is mine!"

Amaya said nothing, staring at Kyson with a cold gaze that made everyone pause.

When she spoke again, her heart was filled with despair. "Yes! Half of the blood in my veins is yours because I couldn't choose my birth!"

"So now, I'll return all the blood in me to you!"

Before anyone could react, she grabbed a fruit knife from nearby and slashed her wrist deeply. Blood spurted out, instantly staining her pale skin red.

No one expected Amaya to go so far as to slit her wrist. Everyone was stunned!

"Call a doctor!" Jaylan was the first to react and immediately ordered others to call for a doctor.

"Let me return the blood I have of his." Amaya slowly raised her hand to stop him from calling the doctor.

At this moment, the violence in her eyes faded away, leaving only determination.

Kyson was also stunned by Amaya's action.

Seeing that she would go to such lengths to sever ties with him, his chest heaved with anger.

His fingers trembled as he pointed at her. "Amaya, you are unfilial! Aren't you afraid of divine retribution?"

Amaya, sweating from the pain, spoke with difficulty. "All these years, you've only cared about pampering your mistress and illegitimate daughter while ignoring your legally wedded wife and daughter whom you kicked out. If you're not afraid of divine retribution, why should I be?"

"Fine! Very well! You will face divine punishment!" Kyson was so angry he nearly fainted.

Seeing Amaya go to such extremes, he no longer had the face to stay.

After leaving those harsh words, he had Madilyn support him as they left.

"I hope the Moreno family will not disturb my wife again in the future. Otherwise, it wouldn't be difficult for the Hancock family to make a small family like the Morenos disappear from Atheria," Jaylan warned coldly as he supported the staggering Amaya. As for the incident today, it would be settled slowly...

At this moment, Amaya's face was as pale as paper due to excessive blood loss. Her body swayed as her blood dripped onto the gray carpet, staining it red.

Kyson paused for a moment before quickening his pace to leave after understanding Jaylan's warning, almost fleeing in panic.

"I'm sorry, Jaylan." Amaya apologized sincerely. The wedding was ruined because of her.

After saying this, she fainted.

The wedding ended with the bride's sudden illness. Although the guests were surprised and suspected other reasons, no one dared to ask questions.

Amaya lost too much blood and remained in the hospital on an IV drip for two days before waking up.

When she woke up, she saw Lana with red eyes sitting by her bedside, clearly having cried.

"Mom." She called out weakly, her throat dry and painful from lack of water.

"My dear, you're finally awake." Lana's eyes reddened again as she looked at her waking daughter. Kyson was truly despicable for pushing her daughter to this point.

Seeing her daughter's wrist still bandaged brought tears to Lana's eyes again.

"It's... okay," Amaya croaked out to comfort her mother.

She knew that even if she bled herself dry, legally she would still be Kyson's daughter by blood. But she did it anyway because she couldn't stand having his blood in her veins; it made her feel sick.

Lana heard her hoarse voice and slowly helped her sit up to drink some water for relief.

Just as she finished drinking, Lucy walked into the hospital room with a food container.

Seeing Amaya awake, Lucy smiled warmly. "Amaya, you're awake. Are you hungry?"

"I made some chicken soup for you. You can't eat anything else right now since you just woke up. Have some soup first." On the wedding day, Lucy had been outside greeting guests and didn't know about Kyson's arrival or what happened in the lounge.

She only found out when someone informed her after Amaya's incident.

Seeing her daughter-in-law forced into slitting her wrist and losing so much blood made Lucy's heart ache.

"Mom, I'm sorry," Amaya said hoarsely.

"Silly child, we're family; there's no need for apologies. Don't worry; anyone who bullies you won't be spared by the Hancock family." Lucy was both angry and heartbroken. Finally having a daughter-in-law only for her to be bullied like this was unbearable.

And the bully was her own father.

That old scoundrel Kyson would have to be dealt with sooner or later.
