Chapter 15: The Bar

Amaya hadn't seen Jaylan for over ten days since she woke up and was discharged from the hospital.

It was said that he had gone on a business trip to France and might not return for a month or two. She learned this from her mother-in-law, as Jaylan hadn't called her even once.

It was reasonable. Jaylan had no obligation to report his whereabouts to her, his nominal wife. When they first met, he also disappeared for half a month before reappearing.

Her primary task now was to take care of her health; matters concerning her husband could wait.

Half a month later, Amaya's health had mostly recovered.

She had returned to work and often visited her mother in the sanatorium or went back to the old house to have meals with her grandmother and mother-in-law.

Her days were leisurely, and she had completely put Jaylan out of her mind.

Since being discharged from the hospital, Amaya had fully realized the value of the black card Jaylan gave her before their marriage. She would go out shopping frequently, swiping the card with ease.

At this moment, she was calling Jaida. After a few rings, Jaida answered, "Hello?"

Amaya, who had been on a bland diet since her hospitalization, was craving hotpot. She got straight to the point, "Are you free tonight? I'll treat you to spicy hotpot after work."

Jaida responded enthusiastically, "Really? I'll be there right away!"

Summoned by the wealthy lady, Jaida agreed without hesitation. Both women had a body type that didn't gain weight easily.

Amaya had once joked that Jaida should become a mukbang streamer.

Jaida had considered it since internet celebrities made more money than she did as a small-town doctor.

But she worried that if she became a mukbang streamer, she might not be able to find a boyfriend in the future because she would eat too much and it would be hard for her boyfriend to provide for her.

So she firmly rejected the idea.

When they arrived at the restaurant and sat down, they began ordering dishes like crazy. While waiting for the food, Amaya habitually scrolled through her social media feed to pass the time.

She stumbled upon a selfie of Chase and his girlfriend and clicked into his profile to browse.

A post from two days ago caught her attention: "Welcoming my buddy back."

The picture showed August, Khalil and his wife, and Jaylan sitting in a corner.

This meant Jaylan had been back in the country for two days but hadn't come home or called her. He was just hanging out with his friends.

In the photo, there was a girl next to August, smiling and holding his arm intimately. Was there also another woman holding Jaylan's arm?

Unfortunately, the photo only captured two-thirds of Jaylan's body; his other arm was out of frame.

Amaya was furious and slammed the table, cursing, "Bastard!"

The waiter serving their food and Jaida both flinched. Angry women were scary.

"Did your husband make you angry?" Jaida asked cautiously.

"No, he didn't make me angry. He came back from a business trip two days ago, and I found out through someone else's social media," Amaya replied with a forced smile through gritted teeth.

That bastard didn't need a wife; he could just live with his friends. If she didn't know he was genuinely interested in women, Amaya would have suspected her husband was gay.

Jaida sneaked a glance at Amaya's phone and turned pale when she saw the woman holding August's arm.

She wanted to curse August for being a jerk! Since attending Amaya's wedding, August had been relentlessly pursuing her.

Although she hadn't accepted him yet, seeing him with another woman made her furious.

She noted the date of the post—two nights ago—the same night he told her he had surgery and couldn't see her. So he was with another woman instead.

"All men are scumbags!" Jaida slammed the table in anger.

The waiter almost dropped the dish he was serving in surprise.

Amaya looked at Jaida in confusion, "Why are you so angry?"

"Huh?"

"I'm just angry on your behalf!" Jaida replied nervously, her eyes darting around.

She hadn't told Amaya about August pursuing her.

She kept telling herself not to get angry because it wasn't worth it to get upset over a jerk.

"Let's eat quickly. Later, I'll take you to a bar to find some handsome guys who are more pleasing to the eye than old jerks," Jaida said while putting a piece of beef into her mouth.

August might have a pretty girl with him, but Jaida could find plenty of young men with just a wave of her hand. Who needed that old jerk?

Amaya suddenly remembered Jaylan's expressionless face when he put the ring on her finger at their wedding. He looked like he was completing a task while she at least managed to smile.

Her anger flared up again. Since he treated her as if she didn't exist, she didn't need to care about him either. They had agreed from the start to live their own lives.

Meanwhile, Jaylan was still working overtime at the company, and August was in the operating room, unaware that they were being cursed by two women who were planning to hit the club.

Jaida took Amaya shopping for tight-fitting dresses that accentuated their curves and applied exquisite makeup before heading out.

That night, at Star Bar.

Two long-haired beauties walked in from the entrance—one with a cold and aloof demeanor and the other exuding sensual charm.

"Let's go; my friends are already here," Jaida said as she led Amaya inside confidently.

"Jaida, over here!" someone called out from a booth.

They saw a group of men and women waving at them—some familiar faces and some not so much.

"You guys got here early," Jaida said as she found a seat with Amaya.

"How have you been? Haven't seen you out much lately."

"You look even prettier."

Everyone greeted her with comments like these.

"Your skin is so smooth."

"Same old, busy as always. You didn't think I turned over a new leaf, did you? I'm always pretty... my skin isn't for touching... oh, this boy is new here, quite handsome..." Jaida responded to each one.
