Chapter 8: Jackson reply

Leah was done with laundry and took off for the supermarket. While heading to the supermarket, Leah took her time, she was majestically counting her footsteps. At the supermarket, she came in contact with Jackson's maid who used to be her maid back then, when she was married to Jackson.

“Hey, madame Leah” the maid shouted out as she spotted Leah from the other side of the gate.

“Hey, Louisa, how are you?”

“I’m fine, madame Leah and you?”

“I’m good, it's been long,”

“You can say that again madam searched for you to no avail.”

“I was no longer around, but what about you? Do you still work for the Lee's?” Leah asked.

“No madam, madam Sharon sacked me immediately she became the new boss, not only I, she equally fired the other maids and guards, and when we pleaded, she said she needed new maids who got nothing to do with you.”

“Oh! I'm sorry you lost your job, so how is life ?”

“I’m trying my best, I'm a salesgirl for one grocery shop, and today is my off day, I decided to come to get some stuff.”

“Cool!” Leah answered.

Leah hearing that Sharon Cook had fired all her maids just because she wanted to own complete ownership of the villa was bothering her, but she just decided to put that behind her mind and focus on her present life which was already a nightmare. She continued roaming around in the supermarket picking up products which were gonna be very essential, just then she heard a phone call, it was Kessy.

“Hello, Leah how are you?” Kessy asked.

“I’m okay, and you?”Leah replied,

“I’m good” Kessy answered.

“Good to know you’re fine, I guess we have dinner tonight.” Kessy asked,

“Sure!” Leah answered.

Leah and Kessy had planned to have dinner that evening since it was a Saturday, the dinner went on well.

By this time, Jackson, Sharon, and Evelyn were equally having dinner in the big house which was built with brick and cement. It was painted brilliant yellow and blue all over with gorgeous carvings of gargoyles on its balustrade. They were having fried rice and chicken for the night, the food was served by Sharon's maid who didn't hesitate to let them know the food was already served, Evelyn was the first to get to the table followed by Sharon lastly by Jackson. They had a nice time at the table as they all appreciated the meal, then at a moment Sharon revealed she had something to tell the family, and Evelyn was like “what do you have to tell us, deary?” and Sharon told the family she's pregnant, with a million smile on Evelyn’s face she jumped on Sharon and embraced her and Jackson said may the Lord be praised for once again he has proven he is God and not a man. The lee’s we're gladly celebrating the unborn baby.

On the other side, Billy and Ivy were on the edge of shutting down their relationship, this is due to the new contract between Mrs. Elssie and Billy's company. She was afraid that since Mrs. Elssie was a beautiful, elegant, gorgeous, and brilliant lady she feared she might take over her man considering the fact she knew who Billy was. A man who had a fall for every brilliant lady. The night was full of arguments for the two couples, due to this conflict Billy decided to pass the night at a nearby hotel because he needed some peace.

Monday, came the beginning of a new week, Leah was already in the building piling up documents that were to be signed by Billy. Mary peters were equally present and the rest of the staff. In some few minutes, came the arrival of Billy, the arrogant boss and as usual, he had a fierce face, his employers were already used to this kind of face. With no hesitation, the staff greeted him.

On the other side of Hilton, we had the lee’s who equally on their side was getting ready for work, the news from Sharon’s pregnancy kept a glowing smile on Jackson’s face. The maid served breakfast early.

Back at the office, Billy discovered Leah was not really in her mood as she used to be very flexible and smart but he noticed she was pale and decided to ask what was bothering her.

“Leah in my office,” Billy asked with a soft voice,”

“Yes sir, here am I,” Leah replied on her way to Billy's office.

“I noticed you've not been yourself all this days, any issues?” Billy asked politely.

“Yes sir, I got some little worries,” Leah replied with her head down.

“Feel free and talk to me” Billy said, while looking at Leah straight into her eyes.

Leah later explained the incident which had happened on her way to go get launch, the sudden accident, and the sudden message, Billy was like “have you reported the case to the police?” And she replied with a yes and that she was still waiting on the police to call her, Billy then asked in which police station she had laid her complaints and she gave the address Billy proceeded in calling the police station and asked them to be fast with the investigation and the police officer promised to be fast about it. After Billy dropped the call, he asked if that was all her worries and she said yes, and for the very first time Billy consoled her saying things were gonna be alright, and that she shouldn’t allow a mere message to stop her from exercising her duties. Leah got back to her office with a little smile on her face.

After some hours, Leah was done with her task for the day, hence, decided to get home. On her way home, she passed through a primary school and stood there for some minutes and wondering lamenting to herself, she was asking herself if she had given birth which age will her son or daughter be now.

The Lee’s were already back home, getting ready for lunch, their favorite maid had already set the table and was already on her way to call for them, they were having chicken and waffles for the day. The lunch went on well.

The next day as usual was busy and Leah reported to work. Billy wasn't yet present, but Mary peters were already present, in an instant came to the arrival of Billy and the staff greeted him, he went forward to ask for the presence of Leah in his office. In a minute Leah reported to Billy’s office,

“Sir you asked for my presence,” said Leah with her hands folded over her tiny waist.

“Yes I did,” Billy replied with his head faced over his pile of documents.

Billy went straight to the point and was asking her about her night, how she slept and how she was feeling, and with a little smile on her face, she answered she was doing well and that the night was equally good. Billy proceeded in asking if she could accompany him for some holiday as he was craving for one, Leah was one of the happiest women at that instant as she taught her boss Mr. Stallone was an arrogant, fierce, bully and the disrespectful man who could never propose such to any of his staffs talk less of her, Leah taught her boss only saw her as trash which was meant to answer present at a job. The joy she felt after Billy proposed some holiday for the both of them was awesome, she took in her breath and replied to her boss and the answer was yes. Billy proceeded in saying, he had been stressed throughout the month and needed some days off work to take care of himself and needed his assistant to be present in case of any emergency, once Billy said that, the smile on Leah’s face went off, for she taught Billy was inviting her because he was feeling something for her, little did she knew it was only for professional reasons. With no hesitation, she still accepted her boss's offer.

“That’s all you can report to your office now,” Billy said with a light smile on his face.

“Okay Sir,” Leah answered while getting ready to leave Billy's office.

Throughout the day Leah was feeling happy even though her boss already told her the invitation was strictly for professional reasons she was still grateful thou because that said, she wasn't the only staff and it was a privilege for her to be a company to her boss in whom she taught it wasn't gonna be possible. The smile on Leah’s face stayed throughout the day even when her colleague mistakenly poured warm coffee on her legs she didn't overreact due to the joy.

It was already 5 pm and Leah was getting ready to go home, after greeting all her colleagues she proceeded through the gate and left for her tiny home, on her way home she came across Sara, eventually, she ignored her existence and continued but on Sara’s part, she refused to ignore Leah and followed her right away, when she arrived at some spot then Leah turned and looked at her straight into the eyes and pitied her for she was behaving like some low-class girl.

“Aren’t you tired of all these?” Leah asked while looking straight into Sara’s eyes.

“No I'm not, are you bothered?” Sara replied with her hands folded all over her waist.

“You’re behaving like some low class girl!” Leah said with a sharp smile on her face.

After Leah’s reply, she refused to listen further to Sara and continued to walk right away, but Sara was still not satisfied and continued following Leah for she had not passed her message, when she finally succeeded in meeting Leah, she looked at her straight into the eyes and said Sharon was pregnant with Jackson’s child. And Leah looked at her and in some minutes, she asked if that was all Sara had to say to her and when Sara said she laughed so hard that if she wasn't supported by a wheelchair she would have gone straight to the flow, for an instant she kept her calm and then later she asked Sara if she had nothing tangible to do with her life, Sara kept quiet and said nothing, Leah further asked her if she was been paid by Sharon to pass her information and later on told her that even if she was pregnant it was none of her business and that she doesn't care as well, Sara then broked her silent and asked Leah if she could give birth and further asked if she had ever in her life gotten pregnant, then Leah replied saying how was her situation gonna change Sara’s life and that she wasn’t responsible for her situation that she wasn’t God. Once she said that came the arrival of a taxi and quickly, Leah jumped into the taxi, it was later in the taxi she gave her destination. While in the taxi she didn’t allow anything of what Sara said to her bother her, for she believed she was living a new life and in that new life it was strictly about her, no Sharon, no Sara, no Jackson, no Evelyn, it was only about her and only her, hence, for her sake, she decided to be strong. In some minutes Leah had arrived at her destination and came out of the taxi, she seemed bolder than ever, with a sharp fierce face she proceeded to her tiny room, she took her bath, had something to eat and an hour of watching news, she went straight to bed as she needed to be early at work the following day.

The next morning the day sounded bright, as Leah work up with a beautiful smile on her face, just when she was about to go take her bath, she received a call, it was Kessy, the two friends had a short discussion for about 15 mins and decided to hang out after they are both done with work.
