Chapter Seven

The following morning, Camila had awoken to the sound of her phone going off. Day two of releasing Never Be The Same and the damn device still hadn't stopped buzzing.

Letting out a muffled groan, Camila rolls into the middle of her kind size bed before reaching for her phone on the bedside table. Using her elbows to support her, Camila rubs her eyes before looking at the lockscreen.

Nothing too important, except for the top message from Shawn.

We need to talk, now. Meet me at Vives Comida in 30 minutes.

Rolling her eyes when she saw how recent the message had been sent, Camila tosses her phone somewhere around her room before getting out of bed.

PULLING UP TO THE RESTAURANT, Camila lets out a sigh before exiting her car.

The moment Camila had presented herself to the public, she caught the attention of two young teenage girls. "Oh my god, it's Camila!" One of them squeal, dragging her friends closer to the unaware Cuban.

"Excuse me, you're Camila right?" One of them ask, stopping Camila in her tracks.

"Ah, Yeah? Why?" Camila mumbles, trying her hardest not to sound rude or u grateful.

"Oh my god- can we get a selfie with you? Just a quick one?"

The request seemed to have taken Camila off guard, but decided against a decline. Not that she would anyway, she's already gotten some of her fame back.

"Of course." Camila grins, snapping a picture with the three girls.

Just when she thought the encounters were over, fans and people who pass start to gather around the popstar. A chorus of Camila's name broke out, causing commotion int the street. Shit, maybe I should have thought this out.

"Guys, can you please give me a little space?" Camila tried to call over the yelling but fails as the air starts to thicken.

"Aye! Get off my street you savages!"

Hearing the familiar voice emerge from the restaurant, Camila lets a sigh of relieved when she sees Y/n inch closer towards her.

"Shoo! Shoo!" She hisses, holding her hand out for Camila to take. "Come with me if you want to live." Y/n smirks in which Camila rolls her eyes.

Taking Y/n's hand, Camila is Then dragged into the safety of the restaurant.

"I did not think I would attract that much attention, let alone people." Camila says in shock as she presses her hand against the glass door.

"I guess you gave me to thank for that." Y/n says amused by the current situation.

Camila smiles, turning around to face the waitress. "Thank you."

"I was kidding but, you're welcome. What are you doing here anyway?"

"I was meeting someone here- and also you promised to help me with some songs, remember?"

Y/n squints her eyes through her grin before mumbling., "I didn't promise you anything. I said-"

"You'd help me. Yeah, I remember." Camila sighs, her eyes immediately averting to the floor.

"And I meant what I said."

Looking up at the Latina before her, Camila couldn't help but feel the butterfly in her stomach return. She could sense the genuineness in Y/n's voice which sent a smile to her lips.

Both girls breaking into a staring competition before being broken out of it by the sound of the restaurant doors open.

"Holy shit!" Shawn huffs, licking the doors behind her. "It's like a zombie apocalypse out there."

"Aye, Mendes Guy." Y/n calls, smiling when she saw the broad shouldered man.

"Waitress Girl." Shawn replies, through his flushed smile.

"What are you- Wait, are you the one Camila is meeting up with?"

"Yeah...How did you-"

"If you would excuse us," Camila interjects as she grips her best friends wrist. "we're just gonna speak in private."

"Oh Yeah- Oh! Yeah no, I totally get it." Y/n gasps in realisation. "I'll just be doing my job."

Nodding as Y/n walks away, Camila drags Shawn into private. "What did you want to talk about? Could you also make it quick because I have something to do."

"First of all, did you take Y/n's song without her permission?"

"What- no. That's ridiculous. I would never do that." Camila scoffs, looking away from the younger Canadian.

"Look me in the eyes and tell me you didn't take her song then." Shawn challenges.

Rolling her eyes, Camila throws her hands in the air. "Fine, I took it but, we talked about it and she's okay with it. I just have to give her credit."

"And did you?"

Camila stays silent as the floor become more interesting than the Anything. She didn't want to give Y/n credit for many reasons. One, because her manager would demand to have it taken down and two, Camila didn't want Y/n to go through the stampede of people bothering her.

It wasn't till the previous night that Camila realised how healthy Y/n's life had been. She didn't have to go through stress, hate, or sleepless nights. She didn't want that to all dissipate into something negative for Y/n.

"I mean...I don't want people breathing down her neck for songs. She doesn't need that."

"Camila." Shawn sighs in clear disappointment. "You have tell, Roger. This isn't right."

"I'm not gonna do it again! I-I won't even go near her- just please! Don't tell, Roger."

Knowing the outcome of telling her manager, Camila would be in big trouble. She wasn't allowed to take music without permission and everything she did write had to go through him. If he found out, she could be dropped by her label. Especially because Y/n wasn't a qualified producer/song writer.

"Fine. But I mean it, Camila. I care about her. I'm surprised she hasn't had a go at you yet."

"You're right. I...I promise I won't do it again."

Sighing in defeat, Shawn nods before a silence falls between the both of them.

"Should we like...have breakfast? Is that a thing here?" Shawn asks, breaking the silence.

"Ah...Okay?" Camila chuckles nervously, it wanting Shawn to know about the arrangements she had with the waitress.

"Sweet. I really feel like trying that Coco Horcho."

"Horchata. I swear you do this on purpose.
