Chapter 8. You Are Not Her

"CEO Galant, don't you know what you're thinking?" Elle suddenly stood up and looked at him coldly.

'Who does Galant think he is?! What is the basis for him saying that to me?'

Galant's words just now had offended Elle and made Elle feel that from the beginning the man had guessed what her life would be like, even in his heart he had made a list of progress and found out that the current her was beyond her expectations.

It also made Elle feel high above. However, for Elle, the way Galant looked at her was like she was a toy in his hands that he could control.

Galant looked at Elle, then laughed and didn't care about Elle's attitude. Galant leaned back on the sofa and crossed his legs in a lazy manner, picking up the cigarette box on the table.

"Smoking is not allowed here, CEO Galant. If you have a problem with your eyes, please go get glasses." Elle warned Galant coldly, but Elle still felt like a cat whose tail was being stepped on.

Every office building usually has a smoking ban, so too in the company where Elle works there is a sign that says "NO SMOKING", but usually those who come to the meeting room are big bosses, even if they want to smoke, no one will forbid them. Therefore there is an ashtray in the room.

For the sake of getting business, smelling cigarettes is not a problem? But the reality is like this, when you beg to get something, then you will not demand something or maintain your self-esteem. All those rules are only intended for people who do not have the ability to refuse.

After hearing Elle's words, Galant's hand movement that took the cigarette box stopped, he seemed to be between laughing and not looking at Elle, then put the cigarette box back on the table.

Unexpectedly the words spoken by Galant next made Elle scared.

"That's right, you are still breastfeeding now." Galant said with a smile and his eyes showed tenderness.

Instantly Elle felt goosebumps. When she saw Galant, she felt scared, Elle's heart started beating fast.

'It turns out he knows I've given birth!' Elle's heart was pounding after hearing Galant's words.

"Just sit down, your body is still weak," Galant continued.

Elle felt herself going crazy. Galant had known that she had given birth and must have known that her child was not someone else's. If so, Galant should have guessed that she did not abort the pregnancy at that time.

"But if he knew everything, why did he have to talk about cooperation and call me to take responsibility? Is he playing with me?!" Elle wondered in her heart. Now her emotions were getting stronger, but a sense of helplessness arose.

No matter a few months ago or now, when Elle faced Galant, she was always weak. Elle cursed herself for being too stupid, thinking that if she worked hard she could be strong and still tried to hide the children after she gave birth, but in reality she didn't know that Galant had known everything.

For Elle, she must have looked messy and ridiculous in Galant's eyes.

Elle bit her lip and held her hand tightly, staring at Galant.

Likewise, Galant looked at Elle with a smile, his gaze softening. A few seconds later Galant suddenly stood up and stopped beside Elle.

"Elle, you are so great," Galant said as he held Elle's shoulder, his voice soft. "You have suffered these past few months."

'Suffered?'

Elle pushed Galant's hand away and took a few steps back. "Director Galant, how dare you say that?!"

Elle thought in her mind, "Why did Galant use his arrogant attitude to say that I am great? And also say that I suffered?

I was willing to do all those things, I didn't feel like I suffered so why should he judge me like that? Who does he think he is?!"

Thinking about that made Elle's heart ache. The feeling of inequality that emerged inside her made Elle go crazy. Elle did try to make herself better. She wanted to give herself a chance to be on par with Galant so that no one would look down on her anymore.

But Galant with his words instantly touched a sensitive part of Elle's heart which made him disguise himself as a strong enemy.

Seeing Elle fall silent, Galant frowned, then continued speaking in a soft tone. "Elle, I know I was wrong, it's natural for you to be angry."

Galant tried with all his might to hold Elle's shoulders, trying to make Elle look directly at his serious gaze. "I've told you before that I like you because you are you, you are not Chloe, not anyone else and also not... Katherine."

Hearing Katherine's name being mentioned, Elle's body immediately sweated and trembled. She looked at Galant in disbelief.

"What did he mean by that? Is he explaining to me? Is he telling me that the person he likes is me and not because I look like Katherine?" Elle thought.

Galant continued to speak, "I admit, when I first met you I was actually surprised, that was when I met you at the hotel. That day I was tricked into entering your room. When I woke up, Dicky had already come and caught us.

When I saw you, my first reaction was to think that someone had deliberately set me up, so I immediately left.

After that incident I checked your data and found out that you were the one who was hurt because of me. I was a little worried about your condition, so I went to the hospital to look for you, but I didn't expect to see Dicky's family forcing you to return the wedding money."

At that time I didn't think something would happen to you, but I just thought that it was my fault so I had to pay it back. You do look a lot like Katherine, but I'm a grown man with mature thinking so it's impossible that just because you look like someone I like you, let alone make you a substitute for someone."

Elle stared at Galant deeply. She didn't dare to believe what her ears had heard. Right now Galant was trying to tell her about the reason he was in a relationship with her, not because she looked like Katherine. So Galant chose her because he really liked her?

Elle's vision became blurry for a moment, her tears didn't stop flowing. Right now her heart felt like it was being held tightly by someone and became hot.

"I didn't tell you all that before, I didn't mean to hide it, but I thought all that shouldn't be told to you. Besides..." Galant paused his sentence and took a deep breath then continued his words. "Before Katherine had a car accident, I had already broken up with her."

"What?!" Elle exclaimed in surprise. Her eyes widened when she saw Galant. She didn't expect it at all.
