Chapter 2: Lonely and Sad

Next Day

After having my bath and dress up for school i went to the parlour with my dad in the parlour about to head out to the office.

" Good morning Dad" i greeted.

" Hey champ...... how are you?" He said.

" Fine dad" i replied then i saw my mom coming out of her room.

" Good morning Mom" i greeted.

" Hey baby.....how are you?" She said.

" I'm fine" i replied then my dad turned to me.

" Listen Son.......i need to go now, i might come home late at night, and don't worry your mom will go with you to your school for the meeting" my dad assured.

" George i already told you i can't" Mom said.

" Listen Tonia, i don't want to hear any of that......you need to be there" Dad said.

" What do you want me to do, i have a place i need to be, I'm sorry but I can't" Mom said.

" I don't care tonia, i don't care and don't tempt me you don't want to know what will happen" Dad said.

" What will you do huh, what?" She said.

" If you refused to go with him then consider us done, i will have my lawyer issue a divorce" dad said.

" What!, so because of this you're threatening me with a divorce, am i supposed to be scared of that?" Mom asked.

" I'm leaving now, if i later find out you didn't go, i guess i know your answer then"

" So it's up to you, how much you value your family, it's either your work or your family, you choose" Dad said then pick up his bag.

" bye son" he said then head out.

" Sophia" Mom called at our maid as she come to the parlour.

" Yes ma'am" she replied.

" I want you to go over to my son's school and represent us" Mom said.

" I'm sorry ma'am, i wouldn't be able to, i need to look after my sick mother after i leave this place"

" I'm the only one taking care of her and I can't stay far from her, I'm really sorry madam" she said and my Mom sighed.

" It's okay, continue with what you're doing" mom said and she went back inside.

Then my mom's phone started ringing which she picked immediately.

" Hello peter" mom said.

" Oh I'm sorry, I'm already on my way... I'll be there soon" Mom said.

" Okay bye" she said then ended the call.

" You know what darling, i don't think I'll be able to go to the meeting but i promise to call your teacher and explain to her, okay" she said.

" But dad said....."

" Don't worry about what your dad said,okay, I'll see you when i get back tonight" she said then went out.

I waited for my school bus to pick me up, and after some time it came.

When i got to school my teacher asked about my parent and i told her that my mom is going to call her but she's not pleased with that.

I'm the only one that doesn't have his parent at the meeting which make me very sad.

Sometimes i think that what's the purpose of having two parent and it's still feels like I'm an orphan.

I got home that day and decided not to also care about them, i just have to be strong and think about myself alone.

At night when i was watching a cartoon Network my Dad came in but as late as he said he would be.

" Welcome back dad" i greeted.

" How are you, Bright?" He asked.

" I'm doing good dad" i replied.

" Where's your mother?" He asked.

" She's not back yet" i answered.

" Really?....Did she come to your school today?" He asked.

" She said she's will call my teacher but my teacher said she didn't" i replied.

" Whaaaat, you're telling me she didn't show up...okay then" he said then went to his room.

My mom didn't return home after two days and when she got home, i was in my room doing my assignment then i see my door opened.

I looked up and see my mom as she entered.

" welcome back mom" I greeted without happy expression and she noticed that.

" i know you're angry and I'm really sorry, I didn't know I'll be there for two days....something came up" she said.

" I'm not angry about that......you said you will call my teacher but you didn't" i said.

" Actually i was so busy that i didn't even have time at all, it's just about the project we are working on but I promise i will make it up to you" she said patting my head.

" It's okay mom, you seriously don't have to do that" i said.

" C'mon I'm around now, how about i make you pancakes, I'm sure you're going to like it" she said.

" You don't have to mom, I'm full already our maid cook before she left, but thanks anyway" i said then faced what I was doing.

" Okay then... I'll be in my room in case you need me" she said heading towards the door.

" Sure" i replied then she left.

My dad came back at night and i thought he's going to get mad and shouted at mom but i was surprised that he didn't even make a noise which make me wondered if all he said was a bluff.

Then the next day being weekend when my mom is on the dinning table eating, my Dad came in and handed a file to my Mom.

" I've signed it...and i expect you to do the same then get on with it" my Dad said.

" What is this?" My mom asked.

" You can read, can't you" he said then my mom opened the file.

" so you're serious about this.... you're not even considering the position you will put our son" she said.

" I'm doing this all for him...for him to have all that he wanted which his mother deprived him"

" So Please, sign it and drop it on the shelf" my dad said then went out.

I thought my Mom is going to run after him and begged but instead she made a pity grin then signed it.

Few months later, the divorce was approved and they got separated but i stayed with my dad.

My dad tried his best to be there for me but it's still the same but not long after he and a strange lady started coming home once in a while and he introduced her to be my Stepmom.

A year later they got married, as the woman who name is stella started living with us, she tried her best to make me like her and at a point i did.

But her attitude towards me changed when she have her first child with my dad, a boy.

She started giving me attitude like she doesn't care about me anymore, she only tried to be anytime my father is around but the only thing got from her is that she can cook.

My dad opened a grocery store for her to keep her busy but gave her a clear warning that she has to be back home by 5pm.

And ever since then everything has been cool, actually she's a nice person, she started attending my school meetings but the only thing is that she's not nice to me and i don't know the reason.

All she's doing is because of my dad But as time goes on i learnt that it's has a thing to do with my father's properties.

Three years later they have another child a girl which makes my dad really happy.

My Mom also got married a year after the divorce, and she and her husband had an agreement concerning her Job and he seems to be okay with it.

I also visited her once in a week which is on Sunday cause she's barely at home, her husband is quite nice, he and i usually speak often than i ever did with any of my parents.

Just like my dad she also gave birth to a Girl then three years later she gave birth to a boy.

But that doesn't stop my mom from working any less but her husband is cool enough to employ a nanny to take care of the children.

Today

I now have My father, my mother, my step Father, my stepmother, my stepsisters and brother, it's like I'm the middle man and i don't even have anyone to look after me except God.

I feel like I'm the only one in the world even with all these people around me.

I don't have who to turn to not even my parent, whereby i have both my parents and it feels like I'm an orphan.

I'm living in one hell of a weird world, in this case most kid go astray, encouraged bad act. Keep bad company and encourage bad advise given to them when their parents couldn't protect them.

They got influenced by bad people because they have no one to lead them in the right direction but I pray to God to help me survive this phase in life.
