The dirt track

A knock on our door startled me from my sleep. I raised my head to look at the time and groaned. "It's Sunday morning, go away." I grumbled into my pillow pulling my blanket over my head. Janelle was already up to go check who was at the door while I was lightly pulled back in a daze. But I wasn't that lucky like I hoped because the next moment I found Travis crouching next to my bed wearing a cap and dressed in a tank top and track pants.

"Wakey, wakey, sugar." He said smiling. "Give me one good reason why I shouldn't kick you out?" I asked not moving a muscle. Just lying there stretched out on my bed with my pillow tucked underneath my head. "I thought I would show you how good I really am on the dirt track."

He said. "Can't you come back in say maybe an hour?" I asked. "Then I'm already racing for my spot." He answered raising an eyebrow. "Okay, fine." I pushed the blankets away and pushed myself up. "Just give me a few minutes to get changed." I said with a yawn as I pulled the door open for him to go out. "I'll get us some coffee." He said. "That sounds good to me." I replied closing the door after him and then finding clothes to wear.

I went with the basics, jeans shorts, a plain t-shirt, and sneakers. I brushed my hair and decided to leave it down. I grabbed my phone and keys before leaving the room. "Don't you want to join us?" I asked Janelle before exiting the room. "I don't think it's a good idea. Travis and I are not on the best terms at the moment. Like I know you, you'll love it out there." She said returning her attention back to her laptop.

I pulled up my shoulders and left the room.

I shut the door behind me and headed down the stairs where Travis was waiting for me at his truck. He handed me a coffee as I reached him. "Thanks." I thanked accepting the coffee from him and getting in the truck. "I got some muffins. Not sure what you like so I got a variety." He said handing me a bag. I opened the bag and chuckled when I saw all the muffins. "Choc-chip or caramel would do just fine." I answered pulling out a muffin while he drove us over to the track.

"What made you bring me to the track?" I asked. "Isn't this like the side you hide away from all your lady friends?" I teased making him chuckle. "I don't have any lady friends, remember? I'm a lone wolf." He joked. "But I thought it would be a great opportunity to get to know you as I have seen you are into extreme sports and not into normal sports." He answered. "I'm flattered." I replied getting a smile out of him. We pulled up in front of huge looking track where he had to sign in before entering.

He pulled up next to a tent that was located close to the track. Once he killed the engine, I spotted Zack walking up to us. "Morning." He greeted me as I exit the truck. "Why am I not surprised to find you here?" I asked. "Travis and I always stick together." He joked. Travis was already on the back of the truck unloading his bike.

Zack escorted me to the tent where the rest of the guys were including Ruby. She looked surprised when she saw me. "Hey." She greeted getting up from her seat. "Morning." I greeted back.

"Is my friend untouched?" I asked Zack in a joking kind of way. Ruby blushed while Zack just shrugged. "If you mean she and my bed had a thing going on without me, then yeah. She's untouched I believe." He answered. "Travis will have my balls on a plate if I so much harm her." He mumbled leaving the tent. My guess; he was going to check up on Travis.

"Travis is really like an annoying big brother." She grumbled. "He only cares about you, Ruby." I replied. "I know." She agreed. "Where's Janelle?" She asked looking around. "Not here." I answered taking a seat. "You mean she is all alone back at our place?" She asked sitting down next to me.

"I think she's trying to work through what happened yesterday." I explained to Ruby. "I know that she knows what she did was wrong. I just lost it for a moment when she didn't admit that she was the reason why everyone picked on me." Ruby replied. "I think that this is going to be hard to swallow but she also got hurt by doing what she did. I'm not taking her side or anything."

"I know it was Isabella who made her do it." Ruby confessed. "Yes, because Damian called you beautiful and thought you were cute." I told her. "Isabella did it because she was jealous?" Ruby asked frowning. "Yes. And Damian told Isabella that you reminded him of Janelle when she was younger. And Isabella didn't like it. So, she wanted to humiliate you and Janelle at once." Ruby stayed quiet as she processed the news. "And Isabella is also the reason why Travis and Damian aren't friends anymore." I grumbled. "Because she likes to lie and manipulate people." Ruby said sounding upset with her.
