The flight to L.A was just a little over four hours and even if it was that case I got easily bored by just sitting around doing nothing. I pulled out my tablet which wasn't a really a good idea as my short temper reached its limits and before I could think of flushing my tablet down the toilet, the flight attendant announced that we were ten minutes away from landing and they requested that we turn off all our electronics. Look at that. My tablet lives another day. I did as told and leaned back in my chair waiting for the plane to land. Once the plane touched the ground and we were cleared to get up from our seats, I grabbed my hand luggage and followed the rest of the passengers towards the exit.
I entered L.A's airport and made my way towards the arrival luggage to get my bags. I grabbed my bags once I spotted my luggage and made my way outside to catch a cab that will drop me off at the College Dorms. I tipped the driver and headed towards the building with all my luggage. As I reached the dorm room where I will be staying I heard girls talking more like arguing. I knocked on the door when I found it open and saw the two girls bickering at each other.
Both the girls looked at me with curious expressions "Hi, I'm Jaylin. I believe you are my roommates." I said. "Hi, I'm Ruby and this is Janelle." Ruby introduced with a friendly smile while Janelle just stared at me with an unreadable look on her face. I narrowed my eyes when I found her analyzing me with her eyes and I knew that look too well. I've received that look my whole life. "Is there anything you want to tell me?" I asked entering the room and dropping my bag on a bed claiming it as mine.
"Yeah, we are in College. What's with all the bangles, oversize pants, and heavy metal t-shirt? And the red highlights in your hair?" I quirked an eyebrow. "It's called cargo pants. More specifically skater girl cargo pants. And let me not start on your tiny cheerleading outfit and that obvious belly-button piercing." She looked taken back for a moment. "You don't get to judge me on my taste in clothing and I won't do the same to you. Deal?" I said noticing the smile on Ruby's face that she wasn't even trying to hide.
"Fine. But I will not be the only one." She turned her back on me. "I'm kind of betting on it." I replied not having a care in the world.
"So, what's your major?" Ruby asked me. "Psychology and yours?" I answered her. "Physics." She answered with a proud smile. "Duh, of course, you would become a physics major." Janelle remarked. Ruby looked at her with a blank look. "And what is yours? Literature? So, you can learn how to write instead of opening your legs for every guy you just met." Okay, I was getting a certain vibe from these two.
"You guys know each other?" I asked. "We attended the same high school." Ruby answered. "Yeah, nobody can forget the little nerd with all her achievements." Janelle said sounding harsh. The way Ruby's face twisted told me that she was picked on a lot in high school.
"Well, at least she has achievements." I muttered digging through my luggage for my headsets."And you should think about stop picking on her. We're not in high school anymore." I informed her before heading out of the room and down the stairs. I plugged in my earphones and walked down the sidewalk until I reached the beach. I looked around and noticed it was a popular beach. I spotted a few surfers out on the water catching some waves or waiting for their wave.
I was so caught up in the waves that I almost got hit against the side of the head when a volleyball came flying out of nowhere. I dodged the ball just in time and watched it hit the sand. I crouched down to pick it up when I noticed someone jogging towards me. I got back up with the ball in my hand as I looked at the person. "This yours?" I asked holding the ball out to him. “Yeah, sorry about that.” He apologized catching the ball when I passed it to him.
He was made of every girl's fantasy. He is tall, lean, tanned skin of spending way too much time in the sun. And don't let me get started on his facial features if perfect was a word to describe him I would. Short light brown hair, plump lips, and electric blue eyes staring at me as if I was some exotic animal. "You want to join us?" He asked motioning towards a group of people staring at us. "I think I'll pass." I replied noticing a girl jogging down to where we were standing.
"What's a New Orleans girl doing here in L.A?" He asked smiling. "That obvious?" I asked. "The accent pretty much gives it away." He answered smirking. "Great to know." I started turning when he stopped me. "Come on, I'm not like those guys you used to date." I turned around to look at him. "And what kind might that be?" I asked showing serious interest. "Obviously the ones that only stay for a night and moves along the next day." I couldn't help but smile at how ironic it sounded.
"Travis, come on." The girl nagged. I quirked an eyebrow unable to hide my amusement. "She's not mine. I promise." He said holding up his hands. "Could've fooled me, Mr. One-night-stand-himself." I replied with a shrug of my shoulder before turning to walk away. "I thought you like that kind of guys." I halted and glanced at him over my shoulder.
"I don't go for guys who go through girls like toilet paper. No matter how attractive they may be." With that last sentence, I walked away and made my way back to the dorms where I only found Ruby in the room. "Where's our favorite roommate?" I asked sitting down on the small couch. "Cheerleading practice." Ruby replied flipping through her magazine. "What's her deal?" I asked kicking off my shoes. "Don't know. She tries to act intimidating so she can get people to like her or more importantly Isabella who is dating her crush." Ruby replied.
