"I have late night conversations with the moon.

He tells me about the sun,

and I tell him about you."

I miss him.

It's been 4 days since I've last seen him and I miss him. My wolf is getting restless from being away from her mate too long and to be quite honest I was getting restless too.

It turns out Hunter's way to 'contact' me was through notes that I would get from either Jeremy or Jace. I personally think this is way too old fashioned, I mean c'mon, there's this thing called a phone that helps you communicate better.

I sighed looking out my window and made eye contact with Jace, Hunter's third in command and currently my babysitter.

I nodded at him to come inside and he immediately walked in.

"How can I help you Luna?" He said with a small smile on his face. Jace is totally the opposite of Jeremy. He's playful and seems to be much more of a smiler than a smirker, which is so much better.

"Yeah, can you please do me a favor?" I took a piece of paper and wrote my number in it and quickly folding it and handing it over to Jace.

"Can you please just give this to Hunter and tell him to contact me through this number, and tell him the letter sending thing is getting too old for me."

He laughed and took the paper from my hand, "Well, other girls would think that sending letters instead of texts would rather be romantic."

I rolled my eyes at his words, "Yeah, well I think it's completely unnecessary and a waste of paper. And Jace, when can I see him again? My wolf is becoming restless each day." I groaned out the last part and walked over to the couch and plopping down on it.

Soon after Jace plopped down next to me and threw his feet on top of the table.

"Well Luna, he has been pretty busy these past few days, there's a problem on the Northern border and it's beginning to get under the King's skin. But I could ask him now and see if you could go to the Palace."

"Can you please do so?" I looked over towards him with a pout.

He laughed and shook his head before mind linking Hunter. His eyes clouded over and a minute later it was back to his usual green eyes.

He looked at me with a sad look in his eyes and I instantly got the message. "I'm sorry Lea, His Highness isn't in the castle right now."

I frowned at the information i just received, he didn't tell me anything about being away.

"Where is he then? And when's he gonna be back?"

Jace looked hesitant to tell me at first, but he just sighed and said "The northern border, he won't be back for at least 4 day."

I scoffed at his words, "That little shit..", I whispered under my breath. Jace whipped around faster then I've ever seen him after hearing my words. I didn't care if Hunter was my King, he was my mate above anything and yet he didn't tell me about being away for that long? Yeah, totally not cool.

What angered me the most was that I have no way to contact him. I stared at the stupid note that was lying on the table. What is something were to happen to him and he couldn't reach me?

I was gonna go into overthinking mode when a knock could be heard from the door.

Jace stood in front of me protectively, starring at the door as if it was his biggest enemy. I rolled my eyes at his actions but let him do his thing.

"Lea, if something were to happen to me, I want you to run to the Palace. No matter what don't look back." He whispered out.

I looked at him with a bored expression and stood up, "Jace, don't you think if they wanted to harm me, wouldn't they just knock down the door and kidnapped me instead? I mean, what criminal, would knock on someone's door?" I said while walking over towards the door and opening it, revealing a grinning Andrew with a box of pizza in his hand. Huh, where did he get the money to buy that?

"Hey Andrew." I said, opening the door wider for him to get through.

"Hey Lea...Hey Jace, why are you standing like that?" He looked over at Jace weirdly who was currently still standing in a defensive stance with a dumb look on his face.

"Nothing." He coughed awkwardly, straightening his posture.

I spent the evening catching up with Andrew and Jace. We were having so much fun when suddenly Jace's expression grew still, it looked like someone was mind linking him.

He dropped the pizza that he was gonna eat back into the box and stood up, "Well Lea, it's the end of my shift, Jeremy is probably gonna be here soon. So don't leave the house until he gets here, and Andrew...I think it'll be better if you go home too. I don't think the King would be happy with me leaving his mate here with an unmated male." Andrew nodded and got up from his seat.

My mood turned sour at the mention of my mate. He left me here for 4 days with nothing but notes, left the palace without telling me and now he still wants to control me? I swallowed my thoughts, because I didn't want Jace to get in trouble if I said no.

Instead I smile and nod my head, giving them both a hug before escorting them to the door. My parents were still working, my mom told me that they wouldn't be back home until tomorrow morning, so it looks like I'll be home alone for awhile.

"Remember, don't go outside until Jeremy arrives. Goddess forbids if something happens to you the King would have my head." He grimaced, touching his neck.

Me and Andrew laughed at his words. "C'mon man, lets go." Andrew said patting Jace's back.

I waved at them and closed the door. I leaned my back on the door and sighed looking at the now empty house. I closed my eyes and savour the silence.

I hate this. I hate the silence. It makes me think of him. And right now, I'm missing him too much. My chest starts to feel heavy and it felt harder for me to breathe, goddess Hunter, just come home. This isn't what mates normally do after just meeting each other.

Normally mates wouldn't even be able to be separated after just finding each other, and yet here I am, alone and mateless. A tear slipped down my cheek and I quickly brushed it off. I gathered my thoughts and slapped my cheeks lightly to straighten myself out.

I walked towards the kitchen and made myself a cup of hot tea before taking the blanket with me and making my way to my porch. I sat at the step and looked up at the moon. I know Jace said not to go out before Jeremy arrives, but I just needed some fresh air to clear my thoughts.

I was just sitting there, admiring the moon and feeling the night breeze hitting my face slightly. I sipped on my tea and thought back on the events that took place the past week. I can't believe how drastically my life has changed, from being mateless to being mated to the King of Wolves.

Who would've thought that in a hundred year, a girl like me could be mated to Hunter. I took the crumpled note that Hunter gave me today. I placed it in my pocket after cleaning the table off food.

"I miss you.

Every night I look up into the moon and I thank the moon goddess.

I thank her for giving me such a perfect mate.

Your ours baby, no one else's."

I frowned at the note, "If you missed me, then why would you leave me without telling me?" I thought to myself before looking up to the moon again.

*crack*

I whipped my head towards the sound on my left. What was that?

I placed my cup next to me and leaned towards my left, squinting my eyes to get a better look.

I was gonna get up and walk over to the sound when I suddenly heard a voice calling my name, making me jump.

I looked to my right and saw Jeremy standing there with a stoic look on his face.

"What are you doing here?" His gruff voice called out.

I held a hand to my chest, calming my thumping heart. "What the hell Jeremy, you scared the crap out of me." I hissed out at him.

"Well, what are you doing here? I thought I told Jace to tell you not to go out until I arrive." He growled out.

I stood up and took my cup with me, "I'm sorry, I just needed some fresh air."

I opened my door and Jeremy followed me in, and closed the door behind him.

"Do you want anything?" I looked at him, he just shook his head. I shrug and made my way to the kitchen, placing my cup on the counter.

"Out there, what were you looking at?"

I looked back and shrug, "Nothing, I just thought I heard something."

Jeremy paused for a moment before nodding at me.

"So, why?" I asked.

"Why what?" Jeremy asked before taking a seat on the kitchen chair.

"Why did Hunter go to the northern border without telling me? What's going on there?" I spun around, crossed my arms in front of me and starred at him.

He cleared his throat before answering, "He just didn't want you to stress out. Anyways he did tell me to give you this before he left."

He took a white envelope from his pocket and handed it over to me.

I took the letter from his hand and proceed to open it. I looked over it and gasped. What the fuck?!

I looked up from the paper with a hand over my mouth.

"Surprised." Jeremy smirked, "The King believes that you should be able to continue with your education. That is if you want to."

I scoffed, "Do I want to? Of coarse I want to, you have got to be kidding me right?" I yelled out in excitement before hugging Jeremy and jumping up and down.

"Okay then my Queen, I think that's enough hugging before the King rips my arms off for touching you." He said pushing me back gently.

But a sudden thought occurred on me that dimmed my mood.

"But wouldn't it be weird for an Underdweller like me to be able to go to a prestigious school like this?" I frowned at him.

He laughed and ruffled my hair, making me scold at his actions.

"Don't worry your pretty little head about something like that my Queen. There are some Underdwellers that receives scholarships, so they're most likely gonna think you're one of them."

I formed an O with my mouth and nodded my head. I looked up at him, smiling.

Oh hunter, you and your tactics.
