Warrior

*Warning: Graphic/ Violence/Trigger*

Essence tightly wrapped her scarf around her neck as she stormed her way down the sidewalk to the train station that would take her to the other side of town back to her apartment. She mumbled slight insults to the male as she found his little act not only embarrassing but slightly cute. Of course she didn’t hate him, how could she? As she walked she hadn’t noticed the figure stalking her approach from an alley, the dark shadows concealing their frame from her vision as she looked up.

She didn’t even get a chance to blink before she snatched from the sidewalk, her scarf falling from the force of the pull. A hand covered her mouth to keep her from screaming, Essence blinked rapidly as her vision went in and out as she dragged deep into the alley. Her hands reaching for anything and everything to keep her from being dragged out of sight of anyone passing by. She clawed at her captor as they tightened their steel grip on her nearly squeezing the air out of her lungs. Being thrown to the ground, she took this as the chance to scream before she could she received a sharp kick to her small jaw. Her body slumped slightly, a shaky hand reaching toward her throbbing face.

Essence leaned against the wall pressing her back against it to keep anyone else from sneaking up on her. A whimper left her mouth as her hair was tugged forcing her head upwards, her brown eyes taking in not only one but two figures lurking in the darkness of the barely lit alley. Her body trembled not only from adrenaline but pain, her hand gripped the wrist of the man holding her hair while the other reached for the broken bottle inches from her. “You won’t be so beautiful when you’re bruised and broken.” One hissed as the chuckled leaning into the light of the alley.

Essence smirked softly mumbling something under her breath causing the pair to look toward one another. “What did she say?” One questioned, Essence earned the chance to grab the broken bottle. “Fuck you!” She yelled using all her strength to shove the blades of the bottle deep into the man’s throat, repeatedly tearing in and out of his flesh. She kicked his falling body away from her as she launched to her feet going to attack the other but failed to do so. The wind was knocked out of her as a boot collided harshly with her sternum, her body hitting the brick wall with such force her head snapped back.

Blood immediately dribbled from her nose as she fell into the soiled ground with a pained gasp. “Such a shame I have to do this, I wanted to have some fun with you.” The other sighed kneeling as he pushed her fallen hair from her face, Essence wheezed as she tried to take in air. Her brown eyes fluttered as she felt her body slowly having its own battle in fighting to keep her conscious. As her eyes fell closed she heard the patter of feet before a quick. “Oh shit.” And the loud snapping of neck vertebrae.

“Essence..hey hey. Fuck. Look at me.” She heard that familiar voice urge her to open her eyes. Essence used what little strength she had left in her to force her eyes open. “Hey, it’s me. I’m going to move you okay?” Mattais said softly. Essence never thought she’d be so happy to see him, His copper eyes were firey with rage and sadness upon the gory sight of his sweet one. “On three, one..two..three.” He warned before he counted, Essence couldn’t prepare herself for the amount of pain that shot through her whole body as he moved her into his arms. The pain receptors in her body were shooting signals around her brain a million miles per second, a pained screamed tore from her throat as she gripped Mattais’ arm in utter agony. “I know it hurts baby I know. I just have to get you up.” Mattais tried to comfort. Another wave of pulse of pain wrecked havoc to her body, causing a pained sob to leave her lips as he lifted her body fully.

Mattais was overwhelmed by her pained cries, getting her somewhere safe he couldn’t help but noticethe light leaving her eyes. He began to panic, he cursed as his brain tried to process so many things at once. “Shit shit shit..” he mumbled to himself as he fazed in and out of the mortal plane to get where he needed to be quicker without putting Essence in anymore pain. “Baby you have to stay with me, it’s hard I know but you have to try okay?” Mattais spoke down to her, her brown eyes staring at the twinkling stars above them.

I’m sorry I can’t hold on longer..she tried to say but her mouth wouldn’t move. This was how it all ended, some shitty guys attacking her in an alley. Might as well find a more tragic story to tell at her funeral than that, she wasn’t going to let some low life bastards take the little life she had let. Lucifer already owned most of it, what little was left was for her to decide what she wanted to do it. And she certainly wasn’t going to give it to those fucktards. She wasn’t going to die, she wouldn’t not like this.

What little energy she had left to muster disappeared and was forgotten like her scarf on the side walk as her eyes dropped shut. Nothing was left to think about but how her family would act if she truly did pass. Would they even bother to show?
