Mattais

The two unlikely pair stared at each other from such a small distance. “Excuse me..” Essence mumbled sliding from the male’s gaze. She moved toward the shower feeling sick, it felt as if she’d eaten raw shrimp or bad meat. Her stomach churned as she got to her knees, the impending presence of the male never leaving her. “Feeling sick, are we?” He pushed as he lingered behind her. The girl ignored him as she turned on the shower water quickly to block out her sickness and her raging thoughts. Only wanting to be alone so she could shower, she began to say. “Could you leave-“ she turned to express her need of privacy to the man but he was already gone.

Essence sighed heavily as she pushed the bathroom door closed with her foot before she slowly removed the last of her sweaty clothing. She weakly climbed into the cool shower sinking to the floor as she let the water run over her body. It didn’t take long for her body to cool down from its fit earlier of over heating. Essence began to wash her body free of the extra sweat she worked up during sleep. After scrubbing her body down she rinsed before stepping out and wrapping a towel around her body.

In her room she found the male sitting at her desk. She headed into her closet almost missing his question. “Feeling better?” He asked. Essence pulled out a pair of underwear before pulling them up her body, she did the same with a pair of sweatpants and than a hoodie. She wrapped the towel around her wet hair before stepping out of the closet. “Do you even care..” she mumbled as she headed to her bed to remove the sheets. “I do.” He responded. Lair was all she could think as she yanked the sheets from the bed. “Who are you anyway? And why are you here again?” She questioned, her tone mostly irritated more than anything else at this point.

“Mattais is what you can call me, I’m Lucifer’s right hand man. See through all his business mostly. I’m here not only to protect you but to make sure your soul is in perfect condition for when it’s taken.” He explained. Essence paused as she turned to him, sheets in hand. “Protect me from what exactly?” She questioned. The man by the name Mattais rubbed a hand along his jaw line before he shrugged. “After your little show down below, every demon and so on will do whatever they can to get even a little piece of such a beauty like yourself. They’ll tear you apart from inside and out, what kind of right hand would I be to tell lucifers pride and joy just be diminished like that?” He continued as she left the room heading to her small laundry room. His frame appearing next to the drier as she entered. “Think of me as a roommate just minus the mess and unneeded grief.” He chuckled making her stare at him. He was kidding..he’d be around twenty four seven? Why was she picked to be lucifers she was sure there were other people out there that he could of chosen.

“I’ll remind you why you were chosen about and no one more else, if that’s what your thinking about. Inside that little body of yours, you hold a pure soul untouched by any other source than a Veni itself.” Mattais smirked gently poking her arm. Essence went to slap his hand away but he was pulling it back, causing her to swipe at air. Essence must of lost her mind somehow and this was just her hallucinations starting up. “What’s a Veni?” She questioned softly.

Veni: The bearer of a pure soul given by god to protect and harbor till death/judgment day.

“You were given it to you when you were born. Veni is like a protector of the soul.” He stated as he watched her throw her sheets into the washer. “Any other questions sweet one?” Essence rubbed her neck as she bit her lip racking her brain for any type of explanation, maybe this all was real and she was just a tiny puzzle piece to a giant puzzle she had yet to understand. But if only she knew she was the one of the last final pieces to the puzzle.

The girl was always one to roll with the punches and not really question things much because it overwhelmed her. This wasn’t as crazy as it could be right? Not even noticing the male close in on her she jumped as she noticed how close he was suddenly. “Are you still there?” He asked his copper eyes narrowing down at her. Essence pushed past him before heading to the kitchen, just across the hall. Mattais arriving before she did as he appeared on the counter top with his arms crossed. “Go away.” She demanded as she pulled out a knife from its holder. “You go away.” He retaliated his hands now resting on his legs. Essence lurched forward to wound Mattais but she was immediately disarmed and captured, grabbing her wrist he twirled her around before pulling her back against his chest.

The glisten of the knife out her peripheral was enough to make her whimper, making matters worse as he pressed it gently to her neck. “Don’t make me hurt you sweet one, I have no problem keeping you in check.” He whispered warningly into her ear. “Please.” She pleaded as she tried to keep from moving much. One wrong move and her throat would be slit, this plead earned a chuckle. “Please what?” He mused softly in her ear. His intoxicating smell of mint and charcoal filled her nose once again. “Please let me go.” She whined, the demon thought to make her beg but he could see how worked up she was already. With a light push she was out of his grasp and the way of the knife. “Be nice please, I don’t actually like hurting women.” He spoke almost with his own plead as he tossed the knife onto the counter next to him.

What in the hell had she gotten herself wrapped up in..?
