Mattais didn’t want to have to wake Essence from a peaceful slumber. They had a big day today and he wanted to get her in and out of hell as soon as he could. Her mortal body would only last so long down there before the heat and air pressure starts to take an effect on her. Mattais gently shook Essence, which didn’t even make her stir. “Hey..sleepy head.” Mattais whispered rubbing her arm to wake her. “Essence wake up.” Mattais said softly, she groaned this time. “Five more minutes..” she said snuggling back into his warm side. “I’m sorry but we don’t have five minutes to spare. We have to get you ready I already let you sleep in.” Mattais protested as he pushed her away from him to wake her up. Essence groaned loudly as she sat up glaring at him. Her tired brown eyes rolled down his body landing on a wet spot on his shirt. “I drooled some.” She pointed out causing him to peek down at his shirt. “You’ve done worse. Now up beautiful, brush your teeth, wash your dash, shower whatever you need to do to get ready. I have to go pick up our outfits from the store, I’ll be back in like fifteen twenty minutes.” Mattais said standing as he stretched, Essence rubbed the fairy dust from her eyes before she stood. “A kiss before you go?” She asked randomly.
Mattais wasn’t expecting it— he raised an eyebrow before he slowly nodded. “Don’t go back to sleep.” He warned leaning in. Essence stood on her toes puckering her lips, Mattais quickly pecked her making her smile. “I won’t.” Essence answered as watched him head for the door now. Waving as the door closed she laid right back on the couch with a content smile. “Essence get up.” Mattais demanded as he popped his head back into the apartment. She whined before she popped to her feet. “Fine fine!” She snapped as she headed to the bathroom to get ready, Mattais departing once again.
Essence took a hot shower, washing her hair before she sat at her vanity in her towel. She turned on the flatirons and let them heat up before she sectioned off her hair so she could style it. She didn’t know if you wanted to flat iron it or curl it. Her hair was naturally curly so, she decided to flat iron it. As they heated she did her make up, a natural look with a glitter eyelid. Smoky eye only made her brown eyes darker and look soulless so she avoided it at all costs. Once she had done her makeup she moved to her hair slowly flat-ironing making sure every strand was straight. “Hey, I’m back.” Mattais said from the hall. “Come in goofy.” Essence said laughing as he slowly entered the room. “I didn’t know if you were in the nude or not.” He said setting two large body length bags on the bed. Essence stood from the vanity adjusting her towel, skipping over to the bed she bit her lip. “Which one is mine? Can I see? Are we matching?” She asked excited. Mattais laughed softly at how excited she was. “This one is your own, you can see it when you’re done getting ready and yes we’re matching.” Mattais said as he motioned her back toward the vanity.
Essence placed herself back at her vanity and slowly finished her hair, Mattais had showered and began to get dressed when she had finally finished. She combed it and put in small hair clips that matched her sparkly lids. Her eyes flickered to Mattais as he zipped up his pants, biting her lip as she unscrewed her clear lip gloss. She couldn’t help but stare at his toned body, god was he one ripped man. She wanted a piece of that— Essence pretended to focus on her lip gloss as she saw him turn in the mirror. Essence quickly glossed her lips before she stood from her place and headed into the closet, she tossed her towel into the hamper before she slid on a black thong and black strapless bra to hold up the girls. She stretched as she stepped out the closet, Mattais unashamedly ran his eyes along her slim frame. Essence oblivious, she walked over to the bag that held her dress slowly unzipping it. It was a simply navy blue silk dress that was floor length, she didn’t get to show off the girls which were fine since she was going to be around hundreds of people she didn’t know.
Essence carefully pulled on the dress before zipping it herself, she had done pageants when she was younger so she knew a trick or two to do zippers alone. She noticed there was a high slit in the dress, maybe a little too high so she found a safety pin and pinned the fabric so it was a comfortable height. She looked at herself in the mirror and sighed, she looked underwhelming. She could have done her makeup better, she could have maybe eaten before she slipped into the dress, done her hair cuter. “Stop. I know what you’re doing.” Mattais said sternly standing in front of her blocking the view of the mirror. “Don’t do that to yourself. You look beautiful, you did an amazing job on your hair and makeup in such little time.” Mattais assured causing her to weakly smile. She had forgotten that he knew he like the back of his hand due to their past lives together. “Sorry.” She whispered as he gently took her in his arms. She avoided putting her face on his shirt due to her makeup. “I mean it. You look great. And I’m not taking about what’s under the dress.” He flirted kissing her head also due to her wearing makeup. “Thank you babes.” She said with a giggle as he squeezed her tight before pulling away.
“You look good too by the way..I mean you always do but yeah.” She said nervously brushing her hair over her shoulder. “Tonight you’ll blow them away, guest of honor. Lucifer won’t let me be around as much for obvious reasons. But if you really need me just say Tyliu vente, I’ll be there.” He said smoothing out the top of her head with a smile. “Tyli-u vente..” she whispered causing him to nod. “Exactly.”
