Chapter 6 — Almost

Maybe I was so wrong by asking Safiyah to narrate her ordeal to me few weeks back. Could you believe she blocked me in all her social media handles?  She even blacklisted me in her contact list, how weird!

Yes, that was actually weird. I did nothing to deserve such from a friend I trusted so much? But, it could be her husband warned her not to associate herself with me anymore. Yeah, he could do that for he had threw harsh words on me and shunned me out of his house aggressively that day!

Perhaps there really was a terrible thing about him that he didn't want people like me to know about, or maybe he just didn't like my relationship with his wife. By the way, he had never for once smile at me. Hence, I didn't like it when he's on break... I loved it when he travel to Abuja for work. He was a staff of AEDC (Abuja Electricity Distribution Company).

"Balqis come here you crazy woman!" I heard Abdullah yelled from his room. "Come here right now!" He added vehemently.

I was in the dining room mopping the Island just after we took breakfast while Abdullah was about going to work. He was already late though, very late if I may say. I quickly leaned the mopping stick on the wall and ran to his room. He was wearing his favorite dark blue jeans and a black polo top... He seemed to be searching for something.

"I'm here Ha..." I almost called him with the gooddays' nick, Habibiyy, but then I remembered he had warned me never to do that again. "I'm here sir" I revamped.

He turned and ran his gaze over my body... I had changed, after the breakfast, to a V-neck strappy loose tank top. That was my usual dress whenever I want to clean the house.

"Where on earth is my car keys?" He asked with a gritted teeth.

"Your car keys?"  I was puzzled. What could I possibly do with his car keys when I didn't even know how to drive?

"I'm asking you, you're asking me... Ka ji shegiya!" He insulted me.

"I... I am sorry Abdullah," I was already trembling and stepping back slowly. "I really don't know where you kept it"

"Don't pretend, kina jina koh? Didn't you entered this room when I was in the bathroom? Motsin waye na ji?" He began stepping closer.

"Yes, but... but I didn't see your car keys, I... I swear. I only came to pack your laundry" I stuttered.

Fear crept upon me, he had warn me never to touch his clothes again. He could beat me mercilessly for that, and seriously I don't think I could resist such thing that moment because I was having a piercing headache.

"You did what?" He puzzled. "Ban hana ki ba? Didn't I warned you never to touch my clothes again?"

"I'm sorry sir, It was your laundry man, Musa that came and asked for it. You were in the bathroom and he was in a hurry, so I decided to pack it for him" I said with fear constraining me.

"Whatever! But the car keys was on the drawer, you must have seen it. So just tell me where it is, now!"

I didn't even know what else to say to him, nor to do. I was just speechless. I actually didn't catch a glimpse of his car keys when I was in his room, why wouldn't he just believe me? And what would I even do with his car keys? Something I handed over to him the day my father gave the car to me? If I wanted it I wouldn't have given it to him in the first place. I kept stepping back until my back reached an abrupt end... The wall. He moved closer to me with a weird look. I closed my eyes, my heart beating faster than normal. Silence crept upon us and for a moment I thought he has gone, but when I opened my eyes I caught him staring at my cleavage.

"Please just tell me where it is, I'm late" He said in what seemed like a whisper. His face pushing away the anger constituting it.

"I don't know, I swear" I replied in a low and sexy tone. "If I know, I would've told you since. Trust me"

He heaved a sigh, not wanting to keep his gaze off me. Thence, he smirked  shutting off his eyes.

"Why that?" I puzzled.

Before I knew it he has restored back the anger in his face. "How silly I am to forget my car keys in the car" He said.

I tried to smile. "You were thinking, you shouldn't be thinking that much" I advised him.

"And what does that has to do with you?" He said, stepping back.  "Fucking get lost!" He cursed glaring at me.

I gulped walking out of his room in haste. I leaned behind the door, happiness written allover my face. "God, I can't believe I caught Abdullah staring at my cleavage" I joyfully whispered to myself. I was so overjoyed that I forgot I was by his door. Before I knew it, he had already opened the door and I was falling... Luckily, before I reached the floor he mercifully held me warmly with a smile. I almost fell, but he saved me. Wasn't that amazing?
