Chapter 4: Kidnapped

Eisley didn't go to work with her sister. She spent the rest of the day changing locks, practicing her throwing skills and going through contracts. Though she is a low-key assassin, she hardly log into the community portal where assassins gather to talk business. It's been three years since she logged in. However, as soon as she did, she started getting series of private chats from her co-killers.

Ignoring them, she closed the laptop as she laid her head on the table in frustration. Though she felt happy with ending things with Arthur, deep down, she was hurting. Eisley sat in her room feeling board. After a while, she decided to head to her catering house to help her sister.

Lorraine was just minding her business and was trying to get through the day when her sister walked in.

“What are you doing here?“ Lorraine asked while trying to understand why her sister decided to show up. However, her sister's weird gaze made her chuckle.

“don't get me wrong, I like you and all after all, you're my sister. I was surprised to see you here after your recent breakup with that total jerk of a boyfriend.“

Eisley smiled lightly “he was a jerk…”

“Oh please. When it comes to Arthur, once a jerk, always a jerk.“ Lorraine said with an eye roll as she dried her hand with a tissue before heading to her office while her sister followed her

“So, why did you decide to come to work?"

The answer she got was not what she expected.

“I've been in a loveless relationship for a long time… I need to get occupied so that I can forget the shithole I was in.“

Lorraine gave Eisley a proud smile “it's good to see that your eyes are now opened. Anyways, now that you're here, we need to start packing orders.“ She said as she gave a big smile to Eisley.

Lorraine and Eisley were in their element, whipping up a storm of baked goods. The aroma of freshly baked cakes, cupcakes, and candied donuts filled the air, tempting even the most disciplined of dieters. Meanwhile, the waiters were busy tending to the customers, leaving the two bakers to work their magic. It was a delightful scene, with the hustle and bustle of the open kitchen adding to the ambiance. The sweet treats were worth every calorie.

Being professional caterers, they didn't talk while working on their orders. In five hours, they managed to finish up with the baking and decorating, they moved the goods to the large room for it to be packaged.

“The birthday event will hold in three hours, we should get the crew to the venue before then.“ Eisley said as she sat in her office after a long day.

“yeah… the van is ready. The staffs are catching their breath. After a while, we'll have the goods moved.“

Eisly nodded as she exhaled. Lorraine knew that her sister was trying to keep up a brave front. “You are not happy about it.“ She stated earning raised brow her.

“Happy about what?“

“The fact that you ended things with Arthur…”

Eisley lowered her head “is it that obvious?“

Lorraine placed her hand on her sister's shoulder and said “Honey, it is very obvious. You're not meant to force love. He obviously wanted your body not your heart. If he hadn't been cheating on you ever since you got together, I wouldn’t have had any issues. That guy is not good for you. He has never been good.“

Eisley sighed “let's just forget about him.“ She said as she stood up to leave. After making sure that the staffs had rested, they began to load their company's van.

“I trust you'll take care of the team like you have always done.“ Eisley spoke to her sister formally earning an eye roll from her. She watched as Lorraine boarded the front seat of the van. In no time, they drove off.

“Time to fill my empty stomach.“ She thought as she headed back to the catering house. Hours later, her phone rang. Checking the ID, she saw that the number was hidden which made her frown.

Reluctantly, she answered the call.

“Hello…”

“We have your boyfriend…” A monotonous voice rang coolly making her frown.

“Yeah…I don't have a boyfriend.“ She said as her mind drifted off to Arthur.

“Well, we do know you are Arthur's girlfriend. We've taken him hostage.“

The cold voice said before ending the call. She stared blankly for a while before dialing Arthur's number.

“He's not answering…it couldn't be that he was kidnapped was he?“ She wondered.

However, one of the waiters barged into her office making her jerk in shock.

“What…”

“I'm sorry boss! We just saw Arthur being forced into a black van!"

Eisley was filled with shock and fear at the news of Arthur's kidnapping. She couldn't believe that someone would stoop so low as to kidnap him. Her mind raced with different thoughts as she tried to figure out what she should do next.

As she stood there in the catering house, she knew that she had to act fast to save Arthur. She quickly texted her sister Lorraine to let her know what had happened, and then proceeded to leave the catering house. She knew that she had to find out who had kidnapped Arthur and what they wanted her to do.

Eisley went to her car and quickly drove to Arthur's apartment. She had a feeling that whoever had kidnapped him would have left some clues behind. When she got to the apartment, she saw that the front door was open. She cautiously walked inside and searched for any evidence.

After a few minutes of searching, she found a note on the kitchen table. The note read: "If you want Arthur back, you will work for us. Meet us at the old abandoned warehouse on Elm Street tomorrow."

Eisley was angry and worried all at the same time. She knew that she had no choice but to go to the old warehouse and meet with the kidnappers. She had to save Arthur no matter what it took.

The next day, Eisley drove to the old warehouse and met with the kidnappers. They told her that she had to work for them and do whatever they said. They gave her a list of tasks that she had to complete and warned her that if she failed, they would kill Arthur. Over the next few weeks, she completed the tasks that they gave her much to Lorraine's disapproval.
