Chapter 7: Drunk

Ellie's POV

Lizzie giggled loudly as she twirled me around. I spun on my heels and crashed into her, a bubble of laughter escaping my throat as I straightened my posture and found my hands tangled through her hair. We've been dancing forever.

I can't even tell how long we've been here, I just know that it was forever.

"Hey!" I snapped my head towards Lizzie and stopped when I realized that she suddenly began talking to a guy who appeared before us. He dipped his head down to her ear and whispered something. Her lips tugged upwards into a mischievous smile before he intertwined their hands.

"I-ll-I'll come back for you later, El! Okay!" She shouted as the guy tugged her away from me. I frowned deeply and swore under my breath as I tore my gaze away from her. Did she seriously leave me here all alone!?

I'm all alone! Lizzie's gone, Alec and Xavier are nowhere to be seen and I'm here dancing all alone.

I swayed to the music, ignoring everything and anyone as I let my hips move to the beat of the song. And then before I knew it a hand had slipped around my waist and I could feel their hard chest against my back as they leaned in towards me. "You got moves," a familiar voice whispered into my ear and I snapped my head towards them, frowning.

"Dave." I spat and he smirked as his hands trailed from my dress to my waist. "Who taught you how to dance like that?" He chuckled and I groaned as I ripped his hands off my waist and tried to pull away. But before I could leave he grabbed my hand and tugged me back into his arms.

"Where are you going!? The fun just began!"

"Dave, let me go!"

"Aweeee-" he slurred as he dipped his head towards my face, "but we're having so much funnnn." He hiccuped as his hands gripped my waist tightly.

"I think she made herself clear when she said let go of her!" A familiar voice yelled over the loud music and I snapped my head towards Xavier. I let out a breath of relief and took Xavier's hand in mine as he outstretched it towards me.

He tugged me to his side and glared at Dave who swayed on his feet drunkenly, his eyes still settled on me, "s-she was asking for it, man! She was grinding that ass a-all upon me!" He cackled and I watched in fear as Xavier charged towards him, smashing his fist into Dave's cheek which sent him careering to the floor.

Gasps echoed around us as the people amongst us stopped moving, their eyes finding its way towards Dave completely knocked out on the floor and Xavier standing over him, a sneer plastered on his face. "I hate pigs," he spat before pivoting on his heels to face me.

"I'm sorry about that." He said and I shook my head in understanding, "I-I wanna get out of here." I replied and he nodded his head before grabbing my hand and tugging me away from the crowd that surrounded Dave.

He led me to the back of the house and we slipped through the glass doors and into the backyard where there were fewer people.

I tumbled towards an empty bench and slumped down onto it. Xavier lowered himself beside me and I grunted in pain as I slipped off my heels. God how do women wear these every day!

"What happened back there?" He asked and I shrugged my shoulders nonchalantly as I placed my heels beside me. "I-I dooon't know?" I mumbled and he chuckled as he leaned in to assess my face. "Are you drunk?" He inquired.

"Maybe?"

"You shouldn't have let that bastard get so close to you."

"Yah well! I did this to my-myself!" I said and he frowned deeply, "why do you say that?" He asked and I sighed as I contemplated on whether to not to tell him about what happened at the last party I've ever been to.

"I w-went to this party like about two months ago, I think. So Lizzie- my best friend ya know the cute one- s-she made me play beer pong! annnddd let's just say that was the first time I drank and I didn't know I was such a lightweight. Funny r-right!? I drank a shit ton of alcohol that night I confessed that I had feelings for Dave that night!! I guess h-he thought I still liked him. . .the embarrassment slapped it out me so!"

Xavier shook his head in disbelief before he placed a hand against my forehead and frowned, "I'm gonna take you home." He said as he grabbed my hand and tugged me upwards. I squealed as he pulled me onto my feet and quickly grabbed my heels sitting on the bench.

We passed through the backyard gates and made our way down the street. Xavier remained silent as we navigated our way through the streets and I frowned, remembering my brother brought us here.

"Ooookay dude where we goin'?"

Before he could answer he suddenly halted in his footsteps and I bumped into his back. I peeked over his shoulder and stared down at the grey car sitting before us. I snapped my head towards him then the car, "we gon stealll?" I questioned and he chuckled as he shook his head.

"It's mine, I made a friend drive it here." He said as he unlocked it and motioned for me to get in. I rolled my eyes and slipped inside. He slammed the door shut and rounded the car before slipping into the driver's seat. "Here, drink this. And buckle yourself up." He said as he handed me a bottle of water and an Advil from his compartment.

Does he randomly keep this in his car?

I buckled on my seat belt and ripped the packet of Advil open. The pills spilled into my hands and I placed them into my mouth before twisting the cap of the bottle off and downing it whole.

I didn't realize how thirsty I was until I realized that I drank the entire bottle of water. I pouted and placed the empty bottle beside me before turning my gaze towards Xavier whose eyes were locked onto the road intently as he drove down the streets.

"Xavier. . ." I drawled out. He flickered his eyes towards me to acknowledge that he heard before snapping them back onto the dark road, "yes?"

"Thanks, fo ya know, saving my ass back there. D-Dave is an asshole wi-with a huge ego, I-I don't know what he'd have done if you didn't knock the l-lights outta him."

"Don't thank me, anyone sensible enough would have done it." He said and I frowned deeply as I tore my gaze from his face. Yes, anyone would have. So why do I feel sad that he didn't acknowledge the fact that I was happy he was the one doing the saving?

"Hey," he whispered and I turned towards him as he flickered his eyes towards me, "do you like pancakes? Do you maybe wanna get some?" He inquired sheepishly and I chuckled in amusement, "Xavier where da hell sells pancake at o-one in the mo-morning?!"

"You'll see," he smiled and I rolled my eyes before tearing my faze away from him.

"What pancakes do you like?" He suddenly asked. "Chocolate chips, they're my favourite!"

"Well, I like blueberry. So guess what!? We'll get blueberry and chocolate chip pancakes, sounds like a plan?" I smiled and nodded my head slowly, ignoring the way my heart suddenly fluttered in my chest.
