I Got Married

CHAPTER 5 - I GOT MARRIED

"Your brother is currently in the hospital and needs a kidney transplant. I understand that it costs a lot of money, and for you, getting that amount of money within forty-eight hours would be hard.

So, why don't we make a deal."

"What kind of deal?"

"Marry me. If you marry me, I can guarantee that your brother's surgery will be done immediately and by the best doctors.

What do you say?"

"You are sure you would pay for my brother's surgery?" Cyra enquired.

"Yes, definitely"

"And all I have to do is get married to you?"

"Yes"

"Alright, let's get married." Cyra did not want to miss this chance. It was the only way she could afford medical fees. She could do anything for her only brother, including selling herself.

"You did not ask me why I want to get married to you. It seems like you don't care." Asher did not expect that Cyra would agree to his proposal immediately without him giving an explanation. It seemed that she really cared a lot about her brother.

"You are the one who approached me, so you must have a reason. And it's up to you whether you want to tell me or not." Cyra replied, but to be honest, she did not really think too much about the reason. She just wanted her brother to be alive and healthy.

"Okay, since you said so, I will skip that for now. It will save me the time and stress needed for the explanation.

For now, let's go get the marriage certificate and go through with your brother's transplant procedures." Asher got up and stretched his hands towards Cyra.

"Right now?" Cyra asked, perplexed.

"If not now then when? Or is your brother's health no longer important?" Asher questioned.

"It is, let's go" Cyra no longer said anything and hurriedly took his outstretched hand.

After getting whatever they needed, they went to the Civil Affairs Bureau to get their marriage certificate.

The procedure went smoothly and they quickly came out with their certificates in hand. After which they proceeded to the hospital for Ollie's transplant.

While they were getting their certificate, Asher had already called the hospital to immediately start the operation.

When they got to the hospital, Ollie was already in the operating room with the doctors carrying out the transplant.

While they were waiting, Asher suddenly got a call from Aviva. He stood up and went to a corner to answer the call.

"Asher, Aunty has finally regained her consciousness" Aviva spoke excitedly from the other end of the phone.

"Okay, I'm on my way," Asher said before hanging up the phone.

He then went back to where Cyra was seated and spoke to her.

"Hand me your phone"

Cyra looked at him for a brief moment before giving him her phone.

Asher took it and keyed in some numbers before returning the phone to her.

"I have to leave now because of something important. I'll pick you up at five. My number is saved on your phone, call me if you need anything"

"Pick me up? Why?" Cyra asked forgetting the fact that they had just gotten married.

"We are husband and wife, it's only natural to stay in the same house. I'll pick you up at five and we'll go pack some of your important things from your house before going to mine. Understood?"

"Yes, noted."

After getting a reply he was satisfied with from Cyra, Asher gave her a quick peck on her cheeks before turning to leave.

Cyra stood there, stunned, because of the light kiss and the fragrance left behind by Asher even if he had been gone for a while now.

She only came back to her senses when she heard her phone ring.

It was a call from Lora. Cyra collected herself before answering the phone.

"Cyra, are you at the hospital?"

"Yes, I am"

"I was just at the cafe looking for you but you were not there. I'm on my way to the hospital, I have something to say."

"Okay, I'll be waiting"

It did not take long before Alora got to the hospital.

Seeing her expression, one would know she was excited. But when she saw that Cyra was in front of the operating room and the light was on, her expression instantly changed.

"What happened? Did Ollie's condition get worse? Is he alright?" Alora asked in one breath. The worry in her voice was very clear.

"Calm down, Lora. Ollie is fine. The Doctors are currently carrying out the transplant. He is going to be fine"

"Really? Where did you get the money?" Alora was glad that they could finally carry out the kidney transplant but she was perplexed at how Cyra got the money.

Alora really hoped it was not what she was thinking.

"I.....I got married"

"You got married? How? When? Where? To whom?"

In the face of Alora's many questions, Cyra had no choice but to explain how it all happened to her.

"Oh my gosh, Cyra. Is this real? I thought it only happens in novels." Although Alora was shocked by her best friend's sudden marriage, she was also relieved.

"I was also surprised at first, after all, it was unexpected" Cyra replied.

While they were talking, the doctors finally came out from the operating room and Ollie was pushed out by the nurses.

"Your brother is fine now, the transplant was successful. We just have to wait for twenty-four hours to see if his body would have any rejection to the kidney. He is still unconscious, but he is alright and will regain consciousness within three hours." The doctor said swiftly, assuring them.

"Okay doctor, thank you." Cyra thanked the doctor before heading toward Oliver's ward with Alora in tow.

THE SIM's MANSION

"Mother why don't you read some more, I'll see Aviva out," Asher said to his mother who had finally woken up after suffering from the aftereffects of the curse.

"Thank you so much, Avi. Take care on your way." Madam Sim looked at Aviva feeling grateful. Although she has refined her consciousness, the blue marks and lines are still spreading on her body but at a slow pace.

"It's no problem, Aunty. You should get some more rest." Aviva bid her farewell before turning to leave the room.
