The Shadow's Curse
CHAPTER 1 - THE SHADOW'S CURSE
"The madam has passed out" A maid cried out loud.
The butler who was nearby heard the cry and quickly rushed to see what was going on. The first thing he noticed upon seeing the madam was her arms and legs. They were blue marks moving at a fast pace and he knew the exact reason why.
"Quick, carry the madam to her room" he instructed the servants before going downstairs to make a call. He had to inform the young master about this.
"Young master" It did not take long before the butler's call was answered.
"What is it?" Asher's grim and stern voice came from the other end of the phone.
"Young master, the madam just passed out all of a sudden," The butler said with urgency in his voice.
"Why did she pass out all of a sudden? I just left the house. Have you called the doctor to check up on her?" Asher questioned.
"I did not call the doctor, young master. Madam did not pass out because of an illness"
"Then why did she pass out?" Asher's voice became even grimmer and colder. He already had an idea of why his mother fainted suddenly but he hoped he was wrong.
"It's the curse. Her body is turning blue" The butler quickly told Asher.
"I've got it, I am on my way. Make sure to close all the windows in her room and allow no one to get inside the room until I arrive" Asher instructed.
"Noted, young master" The butler immediately went to do as instructed immediately he hung up the call.
Asher who was on his way to the office immediately found a U-turn before driving towards another direction.
He held his phone in one hand while driving and searched through his contacts before finally stopping on a particular name. He immediately called the number.
"Asher, it's rare to get a call from you. Is everything alright?" A young woman spoke on the other end of the line with a sweet voice.
"Where are you?" Asher asked. The urgency could be heard in his voice.
"I am at home, why?" She could hear the worry and urgency in Asher's voice so she knew something was wrong.
"The curse has acted up again. Get ready in ten minutes, I'm on my way to pick you up". Asher briefly explained to the young woman.
"Okay, got it" she replied before hanging up the phone.
Aviva quickly got up to get ready before Asher would get here. She knew what the curse was all about and she was the only one who could temporarily suppress it.
The curse of the Sims had been passed down from many generations. Her family being a magus family were the only ones who could suppress the effect of the curse a little but could not fully break the curse.
She grabbed her spell book and some herbs from the storage into her bag, before rushing outside to wait for Asher.
Aviva did not wait long before she saw Asher. She immediately got into his car and they sped up to his house.
Immediately they arrived at the Sim residence, Aviva went upstairs to check on Madam Sim's situation while Asher parked the car.
After a thorough checkup, Aviva had already concluded and it was what she had expected. She immediately took out the moon clove that she had brought with her and told the butler to brew it.
"How is my mother?" Asher who had just come upstairs after parking the car, asked Aviva about his mother's condition.
"It was as I expected. The acting up of the shadow's curse this time is more severe and might be the final attack before she dies. As she had interfered with the trajectory of the curse, she is bound to face repercussions.
The Blue marks spreading across her body this time is very dangerous. She will die when the blue mark reaches her eyes.
But, I will cast a spell to make the effect of the curse weaken a little and slow down the spread of the blue marks.
I have also asked the butler to brew the moon cloves. She would regain consciousness after taking the medicine.
Asher, whatever you are doing, please act fast. The time is running out. There is not much I can do anymore as a mage, but, I will always be here for you and Aunty, as a friend and daughter."
"Thank you very much, I will not let anything happen to my mother. I have almost found a way to break the curse and stop all these once and for all" Asher declared confidently.
"Alright then, do you need me to stay and look after Aunty?" Aviva asked.
"There's no need, you may leave".
"Alright, call me if anything happens" Aviva bade her farewell before leaving.
Asher stayed behind and looked at his mother for a while before turning to leave.
The curse of the shadows was a curse placed on the Sims and it has been passed down from a long time ago.
The founding patriarch of the Sims was a greedy person who was never contented. In other to become the number one clan, the founding patriarch made a deal with the shadow jinn. In exchange for wealth, the patriarch was to offer his first child as a sacrifice immediately after the child was born.
However, when the child was born, the founding patriarch hid him away and refused to offer hum to the jinn.
As a result, the shadow jinn placed a curse on the Sims. All sons of the Sim Family would not live long, they would die at the age of thirty-five.
When Asher's father, Jace, was thirty-five and was about to die, his mother, Eva, took a blood oath with the shadow jinn.
She had given up thirty years of her lifespan, in exchange for his father to live for five more years. After the additional five years due to the oath, his father died while his mother kept facing the effects of the curse and the aftereffects of the oath.
